I want to be up in arms about WCE stealing Oscar....

But that's just a nice story about Nic Nat and a kid.

Hyperbole aside, Oscar might not be a footballer, and you have to love a player giving a kid the time of his life.

To Oscar. Hope to see you playing for us soon.

Cheeky, trying to influence a child like that... hope Oscar received that lovely hamper, electric car, drone, gold bullion bar and ice cream voucher from the CFC.

JGM will become our key defender - just not ready yet.

Need Rowe to hang around for another 1-2 years until he is ready to play.

Now this is a brave post I am about to throw out there but bare with me. Let me start by saying I am as disgusted in Jones as everyone else on this board, but considering we have him signed until the end of time has he ever been tried as a CHB? My reasoning for this is:

1. He is a good athlete that can jump and run although not a great tank.
2. He cannot mark a ball to save his life but can run jump and surely compete.
3. He does not look like the smartest footballer.

Could we use him to match up on a 2nd or 3rd tall and purely train him to spoil and break packs at every opportunity? Surely he can be coached to cut angles and go 3rd man up and support the rest of the guys. Surely he can punch a ball and genuinely use his height and reach to get a hand in.

Not sure if this has been tried before with him at Bulldogs? All I am trying to find is a potential solution to not waste a contract in the 2's when we at least have a hardened AFL body that may be able to fit a new role?

I know it's a long shot and don't kill me for the suggestion but I would be interested in people's thoughts.

If there is any prospect Jones could make it at CHB (and I see no reason to think so given his lack of tank/heart/footy smarts) then he will have all of this year and next to give it a go in the reserves. If/when he starts dominating games at CHB in the reserves he might then be considered.

I don't think there is a place for purely negative key defendersin at AFL level anymore. This is one reason Rowe is likely on the way out unless he can recapture his form of a couple years ago, and why Jones would likely be in the same boat at CHB.

Watched the reserves play Box Hill the other week, did a report but disappeared in to hyperspace somewhere and couldn't be bothered writing it up again.

Box Hill are no slouches, very structured, very good skills where we looked very green. Watched Jones closely out of FF, hit the packs hard but appeared nowhere near close to marking, from say 10 attempts, probably took 2 marks. Just seems to lack footy smarts and reading the play. Also kicked into the man on the mark when having a shot on goal???
He has been tried in the backline at the Dogs according to their scribers, sorry has shown glimpses but to improve our list he can not be on it. Ripping athlete but just can't package it up for the football field at AFL level, he's not the first and won't be the last.
JGM although raw seems to be switched on and with the right development should be a good pick up.
Thought Clem was our BOG and worked really hard all day so will be keeping pressure on for a small forward role with stints in the middle.

Really liked JGM's highlight package from U18's comp last year. Looks a very good rebounder. Very surprised we got him as a rookie and definitely could be an upgrade on Rowe after a few years development.

Smith keeps showing signs - but needs to consistently attack and defend without infringing (getting too aggressive). In time could be a beauty.

Has he tried laser eye surgery? ;)

Great to hear that the little fella was BOG. Has been rewarded with the emergency gig. Looking forward to him taking the next step

well if he put in a 4 quarter effort, that is a big improvement- in mental attitude and also fitness. Well done I say
Hopefully he gets a chance in the 1's and makes an impact on the game.
From very limited viewing I haven't seen anything which makes me think he'll be a player but the frequent positive reports suggest he has something, which I would like to see.

Sounds like a good showing by quite a few seniors in the reserves practise match today. Byrne pushing very hard for senior selection.

Depth baby!!

Just watched the Giants v Melbourne

Not sure Tomlinson offers us much over what Gorringe, Jaksch and Jones offers us to date
- he just doesn't get involved in the game enough and then to make matters worse - he can't kick sausage rolls

March bank looks a likely lad until the ball comes near him - panicks!
Career return is 17.17 but at only 0.3 goals a game - I can't see anything worth trading a first round pick for

I also went to the GWS v Dee's game and was about to post exactly the same about Tomlinson.

Cannot understand why we would be so keen on him.
