Apparently there was a Sandy Dragons coaches meeting last night where one of the items discussed was the fact that the Saints forgot a ******* pool in the Moorabbin redevelopment!! George, can you confirm whether that’s (the lack of a pool) the case?
Kids love water slides:D

# Seriously its silly there are rehab baths if they had included a pool it would of only been a narrow rehab pool and with so many organisations using the facilities its easier to book a hire pool or go down to the beach.
But if community groups other organisations want to get in the ear of the AFL and local/state governments to finance it I'm sure the Saints would be happy to oblige.
Get Kingston council to handover management of the failing bowls club plenty of space there for a community pool and gym on the unused bowls lawns.

Extremely unlikely IMO. Would be a tremendous result if we got him at 34 but don't see it happening at all. A very underrated type who doesn't have many holes in his game and is a tackling machine. Could see him going as high as about pick 16.

Yeah, he looks like he should go between about 12 and 20. I reckon he might go even higher than 16, he's very underrated as you said.

wouldnt surprise me. we have a habit of ******* up the basics
Unless I'm not looking hard enough, based on the tender drawings it doesn't seem like there is one.

I think every now again the swim at the GESAC. So maybe that's why they didn't include a big pool.

cool, whats GESAC?

does seaford have a pool or atleast a recovery one?

Yeah I feel dirty picking Ball. BJ & Dal are alright.

Gram nearly won a norm Smith & Baker is an elite stopper although I’ve got Billings on potential. Not many who can get 30 & 5 hence the inclusion.

Compared to Jack Steele's 2017, Luke Ball never won more contested possessions per game ( average )
He won more clearances than Steele, ( so far )
But Steele gets a lot more tackles in.

Ball suddenly decided he could play better when he went to the filth. Piss him off and put Steele in.
Steele's 2018 will be better than the best season Ball ever played.

Could add Harrison Petty, Will Walker and Andrew McPherson if still there.
Yep, McPherson interests me a lot. A bit like Witherden last year who was highly rated going into his draftvyear but then missed a lot of it with injury and slid as a result. Could be a very good value pick at 34 if there.

Ballard another one, although news today that clubs in the 20's are circling.

Ball won a best and fairest and from memory maybe even an All Australian?

Not to say Steele won’t get there.

That's my point, there is no such thing as a bolter as we have no idea who recruiters have on their board.
That's stupid. You might as well just not do any research at all and pick every player on a whim because the info you get to rank each one throughout the year and the way in which the majority of people rank them is irrelevant right? The only thing that matters is the very tiny percentage of draft experts who also happen to work at our club irrespective of their drafting history because they definitely know best and have never screwed up even a single pick right? No.

Bolters and Sliders are definitely a thing in the same way the we judge how good a player is because that's what bolters are, players who seem to be picked earlier than when they should have based on their apparent skill.

So you are telling us it's worth the melt if draft 'gurus' like twomey and knightmare don't rate a player as highly as the recruiters? What do you base your research on?

No. My point is due to the nature of a single selection draft and the combined rankings of every expert (to any extent of the word) we can rank each player based on where the majority of these people see them. And when a player doesn't fit into the rankings of said experts roughly where expected to go that means they are an outlier. I'm not going to comment on whether or not the outliers are good or bad but purely statistically bolters and sliders are a thing. And in the case of Nathan Murphy if taken at 7 or 8 he is without a doubt a huge bolter for some fairly unexplainable reason. He didn't have an exceptional end to the year like Bont or Taranto; he wasn't a junior star who spent a year injured like Bonar, Burton or Witherden and he doesn't even seem to have any exceptional qualities worthy of a meteoric rise from a mid second round pick to a top 10 one.

Yeah that's what the Blues said when they took Boekhorst, and us with Howard and Ben Long, and Adelaide with Tom Doedee.

Poor Blues get hammered on a pick #19, yet Garlett went #15 in the same draft and has been off the list for 2 years. :)

Feeling that things may fall for Saints getting Brayshaw and Coffield. You'd be pretty happy with that.

I agree with you to a degree but the fact that not just one club but 3 (Collingwood, Saints and Dogs) rate him inside top 10 tells me he is not such a bolter after all.

What’s with Murphy?
Is he a classy user of the ball or does he have great pace or does he have dmd factor about him?

He got an invite to the draft and to get that at least one club must have nominated him in their top 10. and the 3 clubs linked to him have been reported in various media outlets to be the pies, dogs and saints.
Do you have any links to back that up there are 3 assumptions in that statement. Goddard was at the draft in 2014 went pick 21
