Re Ablett

Let's say we finish 7-8 this year & next year with current players projected improvement & adding Fyfe we aim to finish top 4. Does adding Ablett to that mix get us over the line in a prelim & move forward our premiership tilt? Be proactive...

Is the Pope Catholic?

Does a one legged duck swim in a circle?

Does the sun rise in the East and set in the West?

Chill mate. Paddy has potential and nothing more atm. He's had good games at VFL and shown flashes at afl but as someone said a bad game for Hogan is still better than Paddy's best game in the afl.

Why is everyone knocking young kpf's these days. Blokes like Boyd, Patton, paddy, Daniher, Moore all need to be given a break. You're acting as if it's either hogan-like results early on or bust. He's the benchmark for young kids, not the norm.

Paddy is in his third season and still needs a lot of time to develop. Can't wait in till he kicks his first bag so you can hear all all about it

Gaz is still only 32yo and it's been said for years that he is someone who could keep playing well into his 30's if injuries don't stop him, so if he looks like his shoulder problems are largely behind him there's no reason he couldn't kick ass for at least two more years after this year, which would take him up to 35yo. Plus there's the added bonus that he could finish his career playing solely forward, where he could easily enough kick a lazy 50 or so!

The HS have dead set lost their marbles today.....

Suggesting we should have a crack a Ablett was crazy enough, but now given oxygen to KB suggesting Richmond should have a crack at McCartin......they've all been at the pub with the Fairfax journos and left the apes to run the joint today!!!

Hogan's bad game? You mean when he doesn't touch it & sooks for the whole game?

Are u a brain donor?

It was rhetorical. Point made.

Imagine Ablett & Fyfe added to our 22.... frothworthy

Add Fyfe & Ablett to our midfield, then take Kelly out of GWS (assuming he goes to North). Now, if we compare 2 midfields against each other in this scenario the results are very interesting indeed:

GWS: Ward, Scully, Taranto, Shiel, Hopper, Whitfield, Griffin

v

Saints: Fyfe, Ablett, Steven, Ross, Steele, Acres, Armitage, Gresham, Montagna

Kelly is a key piece. If they lose him, their age profile is slightly off IMO. Comparing the above, I don't see how we don't have the better midfield for at least the next 2 years. That is pretty damn exciting. Essentially a decent run with injuries, we would be every chance to snag our second flag in 2018 with an Ablett/Fyfe combo.

I absolutely love the idea.

Nothing more than a suggestion, but they fit together rather well for many reasons...

He does need a run of games fairly soon, something I feel we haven't really afforded him (injuries haven't helped)

Also the 2 first rounders ;)

Re the Ablett talk

Isn't the article we should get him rather than we are actively trying to get him.

He's the best player ever in my books, I'd love to grab the little bastard but he's off the Geelong if he leaves GC.

That assumes Geelong will have him. That is most definitely not a foregone conclusion.

Floss leaving hilarious suggestion, sure he wouldn't go anywhere.
Two weeks ago all these journos thought he was no good now they think every club, their dogs and their cats should be after him....

Wonder if they just want us to have 4 picks in the first round this year because we sure as shit wouldn't take less than what the bulldogs had to pay for Boyd

Not sure how I feel about Gaz but I reckon he would be an amazing mentor for Billings and Gresham.

I don't think the captaincy sits well for him but he would bring so much to our club, in terms of inpact on the field and mentoring. Because let's remember, he is the best player for the past 10 years so he knows football.

What is this based on? Us trading him? Lol.
He is contracted isnt he?

If so the journo is a muppet

He seems to be claiming that Geelong would gift him games , and even points out that Hawkins had kicked a few bags by this stage of his career.
I'm going with Muppet.

Graham Teasedale says hi... and so does his suit.
Just to merge two subjects together, what about Brian Wilson. I presume he is the last recruit to come to the Saints with a Brownlow on his CV. I hope Gaz does a bit better, as he does have 2 Brownlow medals on his CV.

The fact that Paddy kicked 7 ( and could have been 8 thanks to the blood rule) and he is not playing seniors this week has the media in a spin. All morning on SEN KB was saying that the Tigers should be chasing him to come and play with the younger Riewoldt so he could get a game because he is sure he is getting impatient.

He was pretty much tongue in cheek though.

Let him be impatient, let him train the house down and kick plenty at VFL level and then let him come in and smash Carlton and Sydney.
