Good luck getting him to break his contract extension.... He just signed til the end of 2021!?

I was commenting on the scenario without complicating the thought with the realities of any trade.

Clearly Hawthorn would put a premium on his trade value because he is contracted & my view is he probably isn't worth what Hawthorn would demand, which is a 1st RDP.

But he'd be handy. A great finisher & clever seagull. Very skilled & slippery.

What makes you say that?

Fyfe is a West Aussie boy that captains a side that at the moment is just outside the top 4.

Whitfield is contracted and says to the media he wants to stay.

Those two seem less likely than Kelly to me, unless you know something I don't?
Only a guess

Just figure that the Saints are going after free agent and Fyfe fits the bill - never really gets in trouble in public and seems a safe bet - bigger profile in Melb - sponsorship money etc - and change of coach.
Pretty sure the saints have been after a free agent for a while and would of been checked out long ago.

Whitfield contract ends in 2018 , if they don't sign before they start to panic, still hasn't signed a extension - of course he says he wants to say stay - otherwise it would get a bit difficult .
The guy is a star and I think is more value for money compared to getting Kelly.
Also it has been mentioned in the media.

The Saints could get anyone , but my money would be on these two and keeping one of our first round draft picks.

so are we any nearer to unravelling the mystery of the champagne cork?

My guess is jelly has signalled his intention to join us

Just a gut feel

Ghost with a sneaky like on my post saying I read something into stav's post that north would be lucky to get 1 of dusty or jelly

Reckon we have locked one of them away. And I prefer jelly so that's who I'm backing in

If we have to trade for Martin than yes, Kelly may be the better option. But with the money we have in our cap, we have a chance to blow Richmonds' offer off the table. Surely anyone would prefer Martin and two top 12 draft picks rather than Kelly and possibly none.

I'll take Martin, Kelly and no draft picks...

It's interesting looking at some clubs OOC list. Some clubs are stuck in a bottleneck due to their marque FA not signing.

If some of those players start resigning we know the answer the club has been given

I reckon if media attention focuses on those players rather than the FA in the next 3-4 weeks we will have our answer

I'd prefer kelly over fyfe and martin. He will grow into a star whilst fyfe and martin may not improve much more and may dip off from here.

Start hitting up media personalities and talk back radio with some of these players contract status to see if the club is open about them being near to re-signing:

Aren't Fyfe and Martin already stars though?

They are but their output will not be the same years into the future. Where as kelly should be playing his best football for us for a long time.
True, but the two top 12 picks would hopefully be pretty handy for us for 12 years also.

I would be rapt with any of the three, but to get one of them and still have two high draft picks has got to be quite easily the best outcome surely. A 26 year old and two eighteen year old's is pretty exciting to me.

If we were forced to a trade with Richmond with Martin I'd definitely be on the Kelly bandwagon, but that's what makes FA so appealing to us at the moment.
