In all honestly he looks lost. He's had a tough year off field with his old man passing away & his own personal health issues so you can totally understand. I reckon Melbourne would move him on if the right deal was to be put in front of them.
Came up in conversation RE lever to Melbourne

Don't read between the lines on this but Jake Lever will be the best defender in the league in 2 years time. Think a better skilled Rance. He also is the most mature and diligent young player you'll ever come across who just oozes leadership.
He's the complete package and if he decided to leave Adelaide I think every club in Melbourne would be prepared to offer huge money for him.

I'm absolutely with you on this, I have talked him up when people thought you could get him for second rounder. His rankings have him projecting better than Rance if you believe Champion data. I just think you would be crazy to let Roberton walk so you could get him or you off set your gain and we don't have an immediate need for a tall back right this very second. If we could get him it would be great but Collingwood, Dogs and Dees would all be just as tempting and all have outwardly expressed interest. He will cost huge money and plenty of picks.

The idea that you would get a first back for Roberton is not likely anyway because I doubt the Hawks are allowed trade away next years and they don't have any left this year.

I'd rather give Hogan a year off than trade him for what would be his lowest value.

If he leaves then they're left with Weedman who looks a whole lot of meh at the moment (also has a face of a sexual predator), Tmac whose a Harry Taylor level forward, Pederson and Watts as their KPP stocks.

Watts is a handy player and a gun at times no doubt, who will be good for 40-50 goals but I doubt they can base a structure around him.

No, i think Hawks can trade their 2018 1st rounder

They used 2 first rounders in 2015 draft so they can trade as many 1st rounders as they want for 4 years, because they've already used 2 firsts on the draft over a 4 yr period

And I stick by that. Kelly and Lever are over the line for the Saints. My understanding is that 2 firsts for Kelly and a second coming back. Then that second RDP plus 2018's first for Lever. Time will tell. Oh and by the way, thanks for the show of faith Joffaboy.
So what are we getting for Robbo then?

Yeh ive heard that too ,
Both our 1st picks + player for Pick 1 & 19
Apparently we extremely into Rayner.
Rayner's stats on the weekend in the TAC Cup:

23 disposals (12 contested)
11 tackles
8 clearances
8 inside-50's
2 goals 4
2 score assists

WANT!!!

I have a feeling we can want all we want he's going to be at North, Carlton or Brissy.

A bit left field, Brisbane got Witherden for a steal last year, I wonder if they'd take a first round pick for him if we talked him back to Victoria, he looks scary good.

I cant see how that deal with Brisbane gives us any advantage at all.Yes it would be awesome to get pick1,but with Academy Picks and some possible Free Agency trades that Current Pick 19 will fall back into the early to mid 20s.
I personally would rather have 2 top 10 picks if we dont use them in the trade period.

Depends exactly where our two picks end up (Hawthorn could easily win their last 3) and how we rate the talent in that area if we don't trade them for a Kelly.

Wouldn't be surprised if we plan on using one of our two highest picks on someone who plays key defence, and there are plenty of them in this draft, so we could still get a good one around pick 20.

Imagine if they missed the 8 and Hogan wanted out.

Bit of a turn around from their party after round 1.

* They thought Hogan was THE next great forward (that looks like Daniher now - not even close)
* Salem just got dropped and Tyson is average as (ummmm.... should have taken Josh Kelly). Is there anything Paul Roos can't do?
* They just dropped a 26 year old number 1 draft pick
* Scully elite, Trengrove cooked
* Brayshaw in the same boat as McCartin

FMD I thought it was tough being a Saints fan...

A lot of pressure riding on Petracca. Will want to add to his 5 kicks in the last two weeks.

I'd prefer to keep Robbo but if losing him means we can trade for Lever then I'd do it every day of the week.

Lever offers everything that Robbo does & a lot, lot more.

I'm confident that at least one of White, Webster & Rice can develop into high level intercept markers that would compliment Lever beautifully.

I reckon Brisbane would only go ahead with that deal based on our current position of picks.

Bit rough here

Hogan has had probably the worst year you can imagine for a footy player, injuries, soft suspension, his father passing and then a cancer scare himself. He's still a ridiculous talent and clearly a gun.

I thought Salem was injured for this week and Tyson is a solid B grader, they also got Jayden Hunt as well. They added 3 players for their first 22 for pick 2 even if that's Josh Kelly. I would do that deal for the Saints back then as well.

Watts is Watts. He's to me a Josh Bruce level player, he'll make you mad and he'll have some games that he's unplayable and will be 40-50 goals a season.

For Trengrove and Brayshaw honestly that's bad luck, wouldn't be potting them when we've had issues with injuries with Billings and McCartin as well.

I don't mind Melbourne at all. They play decent footy and I wouldn't mind if they won a flag as long as we win one as well. Tbh, I couldn't care if any team wins a flag as long as we win one.

Lever won't be a Rance though. Rance is a key defender and as good as Lever is he's only an intercept marker. Not tall enough or big enough to be a genuine key defender so he wouldn't replace Brown, he'd be taking a spot off Roberton or Webster or White or Geary. And seeing as the other 3 can all rebound I'd guess he'd be taking Geary's.

1cm taller then Rance and 2 kg lighter then Rance

Lever already taller and would be close to Rance's weight. I see what you're getting at but Lever isn't a key defender just as Carlisle isn't a key defender...he has an amazing ability to read the ball and sag off his direct opponent to impact the contest.
He's the best young defender I've seen come through in a long time.
