We will get our big fish. ;)

I reckon we will too.

But I'm not indulging in the utter fantasy that it's going to be for some great deal like jelly for 1 first rounder and a fringe player or something.

I think if we got his nomination it would be for something like hawks pick and next years first.
Although even then, if gws played real hardball and wanted both our 1sts this year we'd do that too.

Which is overs- but acceptable overs for where we are at.
We've got too much riding on us landing a big fish to jeopardise it by trying to be too ruthless at the trade table.

Jerker Jenkins come on down.

No thanks. I reckon Lever is the only guy who would be of interest that is actually available. Bilbo liked the Sloan suggestion but he's still under contract and not a free agent until the end of next season so it's not like they will want to let him go before that in case.

Unless he has indicated he will leave so looking to trade early and do the right thing by his club...

Is that right? 2 picks each event an individual and seperate event with a 50% success rate.

I'll take your word for it, seems rather high to me but I'm no expert.

Based on that we are really lousy at drafting players.
The way that works is there are 4 outcomes. 2 wins. 1 win 1 loss. 1 loss 1 win. 2 losses. 3 of the 4 events result in at least 1 win 1 of the 4 result in 2 wins. It's combinatrix.

Don't think your maths is that good. One in two is 50%. 3 in 4 is 75%. I would think it's less than 50% anyway. Probably 20%. I suppose you need to work out definition of a star. Our last 5 top 10 picks at the moment have produced no stars so we are batting at zero percent

I mean you can only really use our last 2, cos the 3 before that were before trout and co anyway. But no I'm definitely correct on the maths on this one.

I mean if you really wanted I could give you a lesson in stats, probability and combinatrix but something tells me you're not interested.

I don't think that's acceptable. We would start the draft in to third round so would need our Steele pick back at a minimum. They don't need late picks anyway and have always been happy to trade future picks as a way to stagger their list for long term success.

If the Hawks pick is top 4 that's much better than a mid first round pick instantly. Top 5 picks usually get the best players on average and give you a realistic chance at a gun. Add a future first and I'd still want a second rounder back even if it was their later one. Treloar got them pick 7 and a future first with a high second rounder back. Not all first are rated exactly the same. Otherwise we would just swap our highest pick with a team with a couple of late first round picks and give them 2 that way.

JAKE THE SNAKE!

I've heard of 4 Jacks and a Jill...

but 5 Jacks, 2 Jakes, 1 Jade, 1 Jarryn and a Jill is just ridiculous... could still do with some Jelly though. :D

What A grade mid did we try our arses off for last year?

Fyfe for one.
I'm sure we were waving our money and draft picks around to plenty of other clubs and players too.
Ameet confirmed we didn't just stop after doing the hawks pick trade last year- we were still trying to do deals involving 1st round picks right up to close of trade week.

Yep dead right, my son won't thank you I woke him up to get him to run through it with me.

See my earlier post.

If the picks were from current ladder spots for Hawks and Saints we could have taken Bontempelli at four and Luke Mc Donald at eight in 2013. If Hawks finish second last and we finished higher we could have got Kelly and Cripps. I would say three players from the top 10 from that year that haven't fired were all touched by Collingwood- Freeman, Scharenberg and Aish, Boyd is not too flash yet either.

Top 10 picks give you a huge chance at improving your list. Billings gets criticised but he's our classiest player.

We would be starting to load up on Joshes at that point too.

"Ok so everyone please take this with a grain of salt as its from a third party source, but .......

Rumor has it sometime over the next 7 days, depending on national and international flights aligning a luncheon is being held.

On the guest list:
B.Scott, M.Williams, Ed V-W, J.Ziebull, L.Mac, D.Martin, J.Kelly, J.Billings.

If true, this could add another twist to the 2017 trade period."

From the North Board

hehehe

why you do this :(

We will trade a ruckman this year which will net us a late 1st/early 2nd.

Put yourself in Ameets shoes on the last day of trade week...
Josh Kelly, fresh off his first AA and top 3 brownlow finish... has knocked back north and nominated the saints.
...who would have won finals in 2017 if only poor little jack steven had some help.

No way ameet says no, when gws say "2 first rounders please".
Especially when ameet remembers that pick 4 only cost us pick 10

Kelly Martin & Billings lmao. And they apparently need their first rounder to use of John Blakey's son in next years draft! Haha I bet Blakey's son opts to go to Syd as part of their academy instead

Makes me wonder why so many are looking to trade away all our first rounders including next years.

I also don't buy this two firsts is the new standard, if it is prices are going up faster than the property market.

Collingwood had some bad luck with scharenberg and freeman, injuries have made it hard to judge how good they are.

We werent trying to trade for Fyfe last year... Carlton had a fair crack but I havent heard anything that suggests that we had a massive go.

We tried to turn our 2017 pick into an early pick in last year's draft. That's not going after mids desperately & missing out on them causing more desperation in my book.

Either way, we need class in the guts now & Jelly Kelly is priority #1

He's pretty economical the Meetman. He will be trying it on until they break down at the last moment. We probably ned to take our original pick so we don't get caught out in the 4 year cycle so they might have to. I reckon they won't care that much as they already have salty cap issues and staggering the first rounders gives temporary relief.
