Fev was a Saints supporter.

Will get him doen the club to mentor Stringer.

There you go. Problem solved.
You were quite during the Whisky mayhem but you did admit a fondness in your youth to the herb.

Put the bong down Joff it will kill your running.

You are either a deep cover troll or the greatest man alive TEW.

I'm serious when I say I know nothing about dire warnings so you will have to tell me. Are they the same dire warnings that wrecked Hodge and Buddy's careers?

By the way Kelly is still one for me but I'm hearing he is gone. Stringer is a far better option than 2 young kids in an ordinary draft and by some margin IMO.
Why don't you ask them I have no idea as stated, stringer better than 2 top 10 kids, please not on form he's not.

So are we celebrating this and collecting more of the same to keep the party going or do we just accept it's undesirable but inevitable.

Accepting what? We live in a society where illicit drugs is commonplace? Thet your men are risk takers and they indulge in illicit drugs. That young men with healty ego's, lots of money and are lauded as superstars in this town would take risks with illicit drugs?

Of course it is undesirable, I dont think P66, myself or anybody else is arguing that. From my perspective I think it is inevitable that this would occur with 700+ young men who are asked to be risk takers in their profession, have to be discipilined in their fitness and diet to be successful, have to forego alcohol as it increases skinfolds while the rest of their age group get on the gas at every opportunity.

I also think the AFL's attempt, flawed or not, to educate and help players who have tested positive is also a worthwhile opportunity.

We dont know the reason Stringer is on the nose at the Dogs. May be a change will be beneficial both for his attitude (kick in the arse) and his off field rumoured problems.

Worth the risk? Well risk and reward is the mantra for the footballers. Should it be for the club as well? Practice what you preach?

Well he wasn't but why shouldn't he be able to play anymore? If Usain Bolt was found with Heroin he could still run.
I think it would have more to do with the PR and the ability for the league to hide it.. Big difference between a couple pingers or Coke at a nightclub and heroin in a laneway

So 2 guys we don't even know or who haven't even played the game are better than Stringer. Seriously? I give up. If you think Stringer is playing to potential then I doubt you watched him previously. And ask who? If what you are hearing is from people on here then we have got Kelly, lost Kelly, Got pick 2 for Ledger, Got pick 10 for Lonie, gave up 7 and 8 for mother Theresa and even more.

Where do I sign?

It is off-the-charts naive to think that WB would be as keen to offload Stringer as they supposedly are if the "only thing he's done wrong is break up with his missus"! :D

I mean naivety doesn't get any more extreme than that.

He's just 23yo, has made an AA team at 21yo, has won their goalkicking the last 3 years (including in a premiership year) and is a massive fan favourite, so if they are trying to push him out in spite of all that, there have to be serious, serious issues there.

It is buyer beware in a big way and due diligence would absolutely be needed, and I expect, done.

MG are we seriously interested in stringer or does our interest lie elsewhere.

I think we'd be interested at the right price. I think our idea of the right price and the Bulldogs idea of the right price would be a long way apart.
If Kelly falls over we may go a bit harder. I personally am not big on Stringer unless we got him cheap.

We took Carlisle. How has that effected us? It has but in a good way. This is about Stringer and as far as I know the only thing he has done wrong is split up from his misses. By the way who said turn a blind eye to off field behaviour? And if we using rumours then why did Sydney get Buddy and why didn't we get rid of chips. Why is Martin still at Richmond? Why was Hodge captain of Hawthorn so long? The only scandal I see in us getting Stringer is what we may have to pay for him. Hardly a scandal.
who said turn a blind eye to off field ?? you did mate .. i quote "Who gives a stuff what they are like off the field as long as they can play"...
now im not saying dont recruit Stringer because of rumours - that would be stupid- but what i am saying is if we do our check into these concerns about his off field antics and they turn up to be closer to truth than rumour then the risk vs reward changes ...
we got away with Jakes stuff up because it was masked with the suspension of the entire group of essendon players.. if Jake were to get done tomorrow then the poo poo will hit the fan big time and our club will be dragged through the mud..
im still in the "i would like Stringer" camp but we have to be very careful on what we are getting

And to think its drugs also is even more naïve because Libba got caught. That is fact. Was he told to go? No is the answer. Maybe he has had a fall out with some players. Maybe he needs a new club. maybe he is stale. maybe his attitude is poor. If its one or even all of them its not the end of the world. If we back ourselves to be a leading club then we back ourselves to turn a players attitude around. thinking otherwise is naïve to the extreme and makes me think you have no trust at all in our club. By the way who were you directing the post at because I haven't seen anyone write that is the only reason Stringer is getting off loaded. I did write that is the only thing I knew as fact. Fair bit of difference big boy.

And who has said we shouldn't be careful. We should be careful with everyone taken. Why do you think clubs interview all kids taken. people write on here as if the club is dumb blind and stupid. I going to say they aren't. Sometimes though the punt outrides or the negative. We need to take some punts. From what I know Stringer is worth the punt. The club will know even more.

Fahren Ray got offloaded because Eade had a go at him after a final and Ray told him to GAGF'ed in front of the whole playing group. Eade said "you are never playing for this club again"

Ray said fine and almost wont a couple of flags with us.

Rumour is that Stringer didn't take kindly to the coach telling him about his exrea cirricular activities and responded by telling Bevo he should look at his own behaviour.

Now this might be fair enough, except that

1) Bevo is the coach and therefore is the boss
2) Bevo is not playing elite AFL football but is sitting on his arse coaching.

If this is true, and I stress it is only a rumour, I can see why Bevo would want him out. It completely fractures the fabric of authority in a club if a player is undermining a coach like that (Richo apparently is in trouble because someone rolled their eyes at him).

From reports Stringer needs to pull his head in. Getting kicked out odf the club that he won a flag with may very well do that.

sorry mate but you said the club shouldnt be careful by saying "Who gives a stuff what they are like off the field as long as they can play"...
i agree on paper Stringer is exactly what we want and need but what lays beyond what stringer brings as a footballer is concering. again rumours are just rumours and 99% of us have no idea what the ins and outs of the issues are but what we do know is the issue is bad enough that the Dogs are open to moving him on because of it so to the Bulldogs the "Who gives a stuff what they are like off the field as long as they can play" isnt in play.. he has the skills as a player so the off field must be a concern for the dogs - hence the "buyer beware" everyone should be feeling
