Firstly, it was an outstanding effort by the TTCs (Trolls, Tools and Crazies). I haven’t seen a better tantrum since I gave my 7 year old son a bike for his birthday (he wanted a pony, a swimming pool AND a trip to Disneyland).

What a disgraceful performance by the AFC, I wanted Rankine AND Lukosius and we ended up with four KIDS that I have never seen play a game AND they have done absolutely nothing at the AFL level.

So to summarise our stupidity;
1) There were three players worthy of pick one and no-one was going to swap these picks for a handful of picks between 9 and 21.

2) St Kilda were always going to take Max King at pick 4 and IMHO he wasn’t a high priority for us.

3) We could have sold the farm for Rozee but IMHO as much as I like him, he is well below the talent of Rankine and Lukosius. Was it worth swapping Jones + McHenry (+ a bit more) for Rozee?

4) Was it worth trading up to pick 6 to get Ben King or Bailey Smith? I don’t think we were that keen on either of them.

5) We rated Chayce above Cardwell, Butters, Hately or Clark. I think I will back in Hamish against the TTCs.

6) We rated McHenry above Sturt, Duursma, Mclennan etc. In Hamish we Trust

7) We rated Hamill above Valente - IHWT

8) We brought in a raw talent at the end of the draft- IHWT.

9) We have greatly strengthened our hand in next year’s draft.

Yes.......we had an absolute shocker.
Agree, GC were always getting Lukosious and Rankine, hence why Port Power publicly dare them to do it so we would had to offer picks 8, 13 and 16 which is nuts, not even Port Power would have offered their 3 first rounders and they are desperate to get potential elite talent after losing Wingard.

We could have traded up to pick 4 for M.King who Saints clearly wanted or pick 7 for Smith who didn't want to leave Melbourne. If the trade-up was to get Rozee, I would consider that to be overs for him as all experts saw him at pick 8 talent-wise after the big 4, then Smith, B.King and Blakely and some after Thomas as the best midfielders.

Yes, most of us wanted Jones and Caldwell with the first 2 picks, but GWS also rated them in that order, the live trade pick pushed my vote from B to A.

Money post. Absolute money.

I honestly dont think we will keep that pick
The thing is we can decide at the time

The best mid of the last 10 yrs could be sitting there at the pick ... or not and we decide at time

But Lukosius I agree is firmly in our thoughts , the timing of our key forwards retiring and him coming to his own is perfect for that sort of move

Isn’t it 16 not 19?
Academy picks don’t really change things. (Still a good deal)
It's still consider pick 19 as those academy picks moved those clubs up the order by matching it with those stupid points system and selected the player that club wanted to draft, therefore, pushing your pick further down the order and it pick 19 when we live traded it.

I understand that, but its still effectively pick 16.

Without starting too much crap, about which I don't care enough, no, it's not.

We couldn't draft the 16th best player (in the market opinion), we could only take the 19th.

Low draft picks are far more likely to be undiluted. Lower 1st and early second season are likely to be much higher numerically than initial value. Later picks likely much lower as multiple picks get used up with bid matching.

But we could take the 16th best player available to us?

Port drafted Grundy to attract his brother next year. They are way better at getting people to their club.
That’s what I was thinking, if Brodie wants to come home surely he’d want to play with his brother.

Is the younger brother any good?

I hate passing on picks.

Pls. That will have zero influence on what Brodie does. Very little chance he ever leaves Collingwood, but if he does, it will be to the highest bidder with the longest contract. Port can try and con it's members with that rhetoric, but it has zero substance.

Brodie isnt coming home regardless.
He is set at Collingwood.

Remember when Jeremy was coming to the Crows, or Mitch was going to the Eagles ?? And go watch Riley's kicking test at the combine. It's not pretty viewing. He's a very speculative pick.

And what if both clubs have similar offers? You can’t say that it might not have an impact as you don’t know Brodie, none of us do.

I prefer quality over quantity!
