And im not keen on giving up 1 of those picks for 4 years at best from Shiel. Id wait the extra year. Stay the course. Bring in Lloyd and Brodie with 2nds. Maybe Dahlhous as a FA.

I'd like Gaff but unlikely.

Dahlhaus & Lester as FA's would be good and if we could trade for Lloyd Brodie & Scrimshaw that would be better. A good mature hungry SANFL or WAFL player as a rookie.

I would target Shiel (FA) & Kelly at the end of 2019

Take him and his partner in crime, Aaron Black, and our back-up mids would be stronger.

There's our VFL side competitive overnight with two mature hard working bodies that can pinch hit in the firsts.

**** off every marginal HBF on the list and recruit every SANFL, WAFL, NEAFL mid you can get your hands on.

Our list is a train wreck.

So many players that for one reason or another missed their AFL dream.
These players carve it up year after year (Posters on here would know your VFL, SANFL, NEAFL teams/player).
They would give anything for a chance, and give their all.
Would not have a sense of 'entitlement' just because they have spent time on a list or 2 or 3.
Tim Kelly a fine example.
Would you honestly think Tim would be getting a game still with Danger, Selwood, Ablett and Duncan in the team?
He is because he is leaving nothing on the field and letting his game do the talking.
Doing equal if not better than these guys at an absolute fraction of the price.
(Not saying we should go full moneyball, you never go full moneyball :))

Those players are out there, and like Passmark said, we need to get these types in.
If they are a bust, well no different to our current depth.
:)

You can bring in all the number 1 draft picks you want, but if our skills and development coaches aren’t up to it, those players will go backwards. I have no faith in our assistant coaches. For me that’s where the rot is and fixing it doesn’t involve a PP.

It goes all the way up the chain.

Assistants, medicos, fitness.

Unfortunately, given the relationship between SOS and MLG, we are unlikely to get an honest review of that department either. That's not to bag SOS , yet, but the danger is he's not held to a satisfactory standard. Lets fae it, he only got the job because MLG had to save face after rooting up when trying to get Wright from the Hawks.

Teague was a great get. Not his fault supply is poor.

Lot of baby out with the bathwater in this thread …...

All storm in a tea cup type of stuff. I was ready to blow it all up yesterday have now calmed down a little and only want to throw a grenade in there. By Tuesday I’ll be back to normal.

Natural after watching a performance like yesterday’s

And Menagola. Two time draft failure. Would be terrific in our line up as support to Cripps.

Yes, you’re right, it does go to the top. I still think SOS has done a good job recruiting, but then compared to our previous recruiters, it’s not the highest of benchmarks.

Any chance the afl awards us a priority pick after our first round pick with a handshake agreement we ontrade it to gws for shiel.

GWS- pick two

Carlton- sheil

Teague is well regarded. So is Hickmott, will be interesting if we show interest in his boys.
I think the point is,our efforts (granted from a long way away) look patchy.

Seems just like yesterday that it Bolts saying how rock solid the board and MLG were behind Bolts Trigg and Macca. Two down.....

Would absolutely add one or two to the rookie list.;

Righto, I’m downbeat and bored, time to go bang!!

Pick 1 & Bulldogs 2nd for Shiel, Setterfield and their first - 9ish

Will Brodie for Adelaide’s 2nd

Mitch Wallis FA

Basically trade our first 3 picks in this years draft for Shiel, Setterfield, Brodie and 1 top 10 pick.

It’d be like upgrading our two 2nd rounders into a top 10 pick and asking yourself is Shiel, Setterfield and Brodie enough for pick 1??

Pick up Wallis for free and have the option of going tall or small with our first pick.

Change the Brodie pick for our 2019 second rounder and you could be onto something

Keep 2 picks in the top 30

Brodie will cost more than that. Played nicely today with 24 disposals and a couple of lightning centre breaks. Plus he's contracted for next year. I'd expect GC would want at least a mid-late first round pick for him and fair enough too...

Our 2019 second rounder will most likely be 20-22 maybe we can offer up some steak knives

Would be good if Lynch left and Casboult would go to GCS. His age will start to work against him for where our list is at.

With Harry, Charlie, Pattie and Tommie in the last few drafts the only KPF or big fellas I would look at are defenders or a project rookie ruckman.

We need speed, skill, and toughness in the middle so go for best for needs, if it means we take a Smith or Walsh and not a Lukoscious I can live with it.

Not sure if this is the right thread but I have it on good authority that this BS stance on not wanting a priority pick is coming from the Pres and CEO with zero consultation with some (or maybe all) of the board who are getting quite agitated. One of the most agitated is actually away overseas ATM, hence the reiteration directive to Macca midweek. Same old Carlton, fractured board not on the same page. Obviously the Pres sees it as some sort of admittance that they've forked things up.

The fish rots from the head.

I can't really think of a trade for our picks or FA

Just been looking at everyone's list and seeing if what we can look at

Adelaide Rory Slone FA, Trade for Riley Knight, Mitch McGovern, Cam Ellis Yolmen, Eddie Betts & Lachlan Murphy
Brisbane Trade for Hugh McCluggage Mitch Robinson
Carlton Trade out Levi Casbolt, Jed Lamb, Sam Rowe & Sam Kerridge
Collingwood FA Alex Fasolo, Jarryd Blair Trade for Brayden Sier
Essendon Trade for Mitch Brown, Anthony Mcdonald Tipungwutie, Kyle Langford
Fremantle FA David Mundy & Trade for Lachie Neale, Darcy Tucker & Harley Bennell
Geelong FA Daniel Menzel trade for Nikia Cockatoo
Gold Coast FA Jarrod Harbrow, Michael Rischitelli trade for Aaron Hall, Jack Martin & Ben Ainsworth
GWS Trade for Dylan Sheil, Callin Ward, Heath Shaw, Tim Toranto, Daniel Lioyd
Hawthorn FA Taylor Duryea, Paul Puopolo, Ryan Schoenmakers & Brendan Whitecross
Melbourne Trade for Dom Tyson, Jayden Hunt & Dean Kent
Noth Melbourne FA Sam Wright, Trade for Ben Jacobs
Port Adelaide FA Justin Westoff Trade for Jack Hombsch & Todd Marshall
Richmond FA Reece Conca
St Kilda FA Sam Gilbert trade for Jack Steven, Jack Billings, Nathan Wright
Sydney FA Jarrad McVeigh, Nick Smith Trade for Jordan Dawson, Zak Jones & George Hewett
Western Bulldogs FA Mich Wallis, Luke Dahlhaus, Tom Liberatore Jordan Roughead Trade for Ling Jong, Kieran Collins & Jack Macrae
West Coast FA Andrew Gaff, Scott Lycett & Jeremy McGovern Trade for Jamie Crips & Chris Masten

The players I have put forward I believe that are gettable
