Can you enlighten us as to what his plan is?

I can't see it...
Tell you what. If he comes out in front in this he must be one hugely talented poker player as he is banking everything on a bluff. You NEED Hogan! you don't need Neale anywhere near as much and even if you get Kelly you still haven't solved your forward problems. If you had Hogan along with Pav, with the class medium to small forwards you have had you would have had a couple of premierships in the bag given the midfield talent you had. Imagine Lobb, Hogan, Taberner and McCarthy with Ballentine, Matera and Walters as small forwards and Fyfe, Mundy and the Hill brothers driving the ball forward?? Knowing Ross though, he would probably play Lobb and Hogan in the backline.

I'm not on speaking terms with Belly - but I have a sneaking suspicion he knows more about what's going on than the average BF poster. For now I'll back him to get the job done.

If he ***** it up then I expect him to be drawn and quartered at the annual FFC Family Day.

Well what is the job done?

Get Conca, Lobb? Keep Neale? Get Hogan? Not get Hogan? Get 4 picks inside 30?

Hard to judge but the first step of downgrading 6 was a very good deal, but it’s almost as if Freo think they need to fist every club in the trades they complete.

Personally I can’t understand how media aren’t going harder at Brisbane for only offering 5. If they could get the deal done I’m sure the ‘dominoes’ would fall.

Can u elaborate / summarise ??

Melbourne supporter has a friend who is a list manager (Not FRE/MEL). Apparently the general view on Hogan from most clubs is he's "damaged goods" . Alludes to "two issues" attached to Hogan's name that doesn't include what happened in Bali last year. If he's traded MFC won't get the picks everyone is expecting. It's basically a brief elaboration of what another actual insider said a week earlier.

So the basic vibe is: sure the boy can play but a club is one big Friday night away from wasting all those top 10 picks that they used to get him.

Right?

Are you under the false impression that people with their livelihood on the line make decisions based on off the cuff media snippets or something? What the media sprout doesn't matter in the slightest. It's your conditioning that has you thinking it does.

This is it, the poster has been a member of that particular forum since 2010, so hardly a troll I would have thought.

"I got some concerning mail re Hogan, the positive is he will be with us for a bit and that doesn't make me sad, am not going to post specific details, as I support the club and putting it out there only hurts us. My caveat on the mail is that it comes from another club's list manager (not Freo), which is another reason not to post. Am sure there are others that know more than me anyway. Also there were two issues about Hogan, not one, but this has nothing to do with the Bali incident from a year ago (just saying in case that speculation were to be fueled. Other clubs looking at Hogan as damaged goods, we are not going to get the picks we think he is worth, lets back him to play well for the dees."

I am certainly empathetic towards Hogan if he feels the need to deal with legitimate issues (and he certainly has had them) in a less than optimum way, but if this is any way true, I am happy we walked away.

Wonder what Lloydy would have done?

We weren’t, it was Hogan who raised the idea of a trade to Freo at his end of season interview. That your club couldn’t be bothered tabling a serious offer and trading out the pick that would have got a deal done is shizenhouse, it’s ******* over both Hogan and the MFC. Would strongly believe if he moves west in the future it’ll be to the Eagles after today’s performance.
West Coast have lower picks than what we offered you... and will have lower picks again next season...

Why ‘waste’ a pick to call out Kelly? Just to pick a fight with eagles and make them pay overs? What does it achieve and what do we get out of it? Nothing

I’m hoping it’s just another false report

Surely no truth to this right guys?
As much as were sworn enemies, the unwritten understanding not to mess with each others trades isn't worth breaking just for one player.

Avoiding bidding wars season after season for WA players wanting to return is most definitely in both our interests.
To be fair, I think this is more aimed at Melbourne than you guys. Doubt many believe Kelly is a chance to come to us given his manages stance.

So 11 / Future 2nd can get reported fairly quickly but no one knows the "disgraceful" offer for Lobb? Makes sense.

doing well this trade we've been slated as insulting, disgraceful, cute etc. Hopefully similar to last year when we suddenly were descibed as brilliant at close lol.

Must say I'm a little perplexed as to the number with Hogan addiction as the forward messiah for Freo. A pick 5 plus say 23 as a supposed acceptable trade for hogan could also be converted to a couple of picks such as 8 and 13, or 5 and 49 for 13 and 16. One of the Kings will be available at 8 and Bailey Williams will be there at 16. Dillon O'Reilly selected from our other traded in picks would give three quality propects as opposed to a Hogan.

A scenerio of Conca, King (8), Hill (11), Bailey Williams (13), Clark (16), Lobb(23), O'Reilly 30 and Stack 32 (if came with 5 fro Brisbane).
Not that we would need all of King, Bailey Williams, Lobb and O'Reilly, merely pointing out that that group look more appealing than recruiting Hogan

Do you mean because it will cause Melb to worry about 11 not being on the table for long?

If so it still kinda cuts across our negotiating position.
It would be like us publicly stating that we are going to use whatever we offered for Kelly on Lobb thus lowering your bargaining position.

Does it really make a difference if he is refusing to come to us though?

Yeah, I'd rather load up in the draft one more time before trading high picks for trade targets. I'd be happy with just Lobb & Conca, even T.Langdon if it meant we could do a haul of Smith / Hill / Clark / O'Reilly.

Not to worry Ralph consistenly misses the mark and is one of the bullies driven by ulterior motives when commentin on Fremantle

Didn't Freo try to attract McGovern with a massive contract offer? Now this.

When was the last time WC stepped on Freo's toes over a player or trade. It's not good for either club if WC suddenly think, "well now, what about one of the Hill boys? Or maybe Walters would like to play with his mate NN".

Lol you just won your 4th flag. **** your club and absolutely anything to do with it. If it suits us, I'd be happy for Freo to burn any standing gentlemens arrangement the clubs had to the ground. Bring on the bidding wars, we've got years of better pics and time to mend burned bridges.
