How do we take 4 picks to the draft when after by my calculation we have 43 including picks on the senior list.

2018
39 (+5 rookies)

Out
Neal Spurr Pearce Johnson sherriden grey Sutcliffe (7)
In
Conca Lobb Hogan Colyer Banfield Duman Nhyuis +4 picks 11

Leaves us with 43 (+2 rookies)

Am I missing something because as I read we will need to terminate three contracts!

Can’t find anywhere Duman and Nhyuis being placed on the main list. Please correct with link, happy to be wrong.

Just one year deals (sounds like they are still on the rookie list).

Banfield has been placed on the main list.

Everyone may be thinking the trade show is over but it may be "ain't necessarily so".

If this draft genuinely is a super draft, especially compared to next year, and depending on how we rate some of the players, would we be considering say trying to trade our next years first for a mid range first rounder this year eg: 2019 1st plus and say 2018 pick 43 or 31 for 2018 1st and 2019 2nd. A few possibilities may exist to do this at present - Adelaide Gold Coast Port Adelaide GWS.
Eg:
GWS Pick 11 and 2019 3rd rounder for our 2019 1st and 2018 pick 43. Or say PA pick 15 and 2019 2nd and 4th for our 2019 1st and 2018 pick 31.

I actually think Hughes and Nyhuis will be delisted and placed on the rookie list. Could be Bennell or Apeness instead though.

We’ll then trade Picks 31, 43 and 65 down to two better picks and head to the draft with three picks hoping Carter and Medhat slip through.

Just what I reckon will happen anyway. It’d make more sense to pay out a ruckman but how often does Freo pay someone out?

Can someone help me here...

How did we end up with pick 6 again from port? The whole trade confused the hell out of me. Why did bris trade 5 for 6? And where did 19 come from. Wasnt that Carltons pick?

Sylvia and Anthony come to mind. The real useless overpaid culture killers.

I believe #19 was West Coast's first round pick that Gold Coast had. Brisbane traded their future first for #19, a future 2nd and future 3rd.

#6 first went to Port for our downgrade deal, then Brisbane traded #5 for #6 and change - so Brisbane had it again, then we traded Neale and Port's #30 to Brisbane for our former #6 and West Coast's #19

I think Jones will be just plain delisted.
And yet we keep Bennell? <sigh>
If Bennell was on our list in 2012-2015, he would have been in the same meeting room that Anthony and Sylvia were in just before they retired.
He is the biggest "canary" on how much Lyon had changed -- for the worse -- as a coach.
I want the 2012 Lyon back.

"Bailey Banfield has signed a two-year contract which will see the midfielder at Fremantle until at least the end of the 2020 season.

The deal will also see the 20-year-old elevated from the rookie list to the senior list after the 2018 season."

"Rookie defender Taylin Duman will be elevated to the senior list after signing a one-year contract extension that will see him at Fremantle until at least the end of the 2019 season."

"Ethan Hughes and Ryan Nyhuis have quietly agreed to terms for new one-year deals that shed them of this status."

This was Nyhuis' 3rd year on the rookie list so he can only agree to a one year deal if he gets elevated to the senior list.

It'd would be unusual for these sources to be wrong, so I expect all three players will be upgraded to the rookie list.
Thanks for that.

I can’t see us going with 4 talls.
If we did, that would probably mean Taberner in there.

Even Brennan going back means a tall defence with Hamling and Pearce certainties.

Cox may find himself fighting for a game along with a few others.
Dave Mundy is a dangerous extra forward now, who will command attention from defenders. He cannot be left alone.
I think at this stage it is too much to ask him to play midfield other than an incidental run there.

Imho Mundy Wil play more midfield time. He’s still a jet.

Cam has just looked too slow to me, not sure if it is by instruction (bulking up) but he needs to potentially shed a couple of Kgs and get on his bike a lot more.

There is a hell of a lot of competition for tall forward spots ....Hogan, Lobb, Tabener, Cox and if you get in you might want to hold that spot.

Just an interesting stat as an indicator at how shit our up and unders into our forward line ...look at tackle pressure.

Last year -
Tabs averaged 1.3 tackles (equal lowest in his career)
McCarthy averaged 1.8 (2nd lowest in his career)
Cox (2.4) & Apeness (3.8) pretty decent but I think they tackled their guts out as they knew their was no guaranteed spot.

With Lobb (2.8) and Hogan (2.0) into the side, McCarthy in particular better start learning to bring some pressure.

If I were Cam I’d be getting very fit right now. I have Cox, Tabs, Hogan and Lobb ahead of him.

I know they are all different but they cannot all play.

Tabs is super fit and will Fire next year.

Jones would be on 80000 as a maximum first contract, Bennell is probably on more. Bennell upside is huge and Jones should be 6th in line to our ruck. I would have Sandi, Darci, Lobb, Apeness, Meek in front of him

Id also have Nads in front of Jones and Meek and possibly Apeness; big numbers in WAFL games and I think he may get a look in this season with Sandi playing his last.

this would be a huge mistake. u need to have a look at sharp and jackson from east freo. both could be top 10. sharp keeps growing could be mid tracks as good as any junior from wa. jackson if he can get his marking going could be anything

It is the downgrade feom 5 to 6 i dont understand

Brisbane traded #5 and Mayes for #6, #35 and a future 3rd (ours)

They effectively went back one spot in the draft (with a pick they weren't going to use) to get #35 and trade Mayes for the future 3rd.

It's like us twisting the towel on #6 to get better currency out of Port.

Strnadica looks like an AFL fringe player playing WAFL when I've seen him, whilst Jones just looks like a decent WAFL player

I know who i'd delist first
