Why would GC want so many draft picks? Do they not have enough young players?

The rumour of the 5 for 2 pick swap is probably bulls*%# but let's just say Adelaide and GC have different strategies for this draft.

We have a good list, just need a couple of guns to fill it out nicely.

GC is being decimated by the departures of their stars (again), their future looks bleak. So they go for the big bang rebuild. Instead of drafting two SA guns who don't want to go there, they are worried about burning those picks. So....instead they draft the best five kids from country Victoria who are all mates. Bingo, the nucleus of a good team in a few years, all done in one draft.

It'd be a bold move by both clubs, but could prove to be a win-win.

Well McCarthy was traded along with 7. Tyson traded along with 9. Carlisle traded with a second rounder. So in most cases the club giving up the player also had to give a decent pick.
And I don’t think any of them were the right thing to do other than Beams

Won’t be the right thing to do either this year

Relax guys clubs don't get in the way of players getting more opportunity if they can't provide it themselves. We're not paying overs for Stengle.
Yes, I think this trade will be fairly simple & straight forward .....Balme's a pretty pragmatic guy

I think it's possible he took a 2 year deal. Stay for the short term and hope you can win a premiership and at the end you're a UFA and can go freely wherever you want if you choose to.
I think it’s possible he took one yr.

Hang on so Lycett just has to go to Port regardless if he wants to? I've really lost touch with how this all works.
No not at all. If West Coast match, he can then choose to stay at the Eagles or go in to the draft, or choose to still go to Port if they can satisfy the Eagles in a trade. If Eagles don't match, he's off to Port and Eagles receive a compensation pick courtesy of the AFL.

Ok - but can’t he also just say no I don’t want to go to Port, so there’s no matching required, Eagles just sign him to a new contract?

So not sure if this has been covered but on the charlie cameron insta post one of his lions teammates commented #4 . Wonder if this has to do with the suggested Jenkins deal? Or a 4th player to leave? Could be nothing of course but I found it intriguing
