Am I in the bizarro episode of Seinfeld with the Bennell talk. Guy hasn't played footy for 4 years besides 2 games, having more surgery as we speak, major off field issues, yet people are stoked we want him because of what he did 5 years ago talent wise at the Suns.

I think it’s pretty well understood that he’s grown up quite a bit over those 4 years. The off field stuff is gone.

The question is the calf. Only the medics can answer that one.

If he’s ok he has 5 years of footy in a relatively fresh body.

That’s worth the free hit given his talent.

What You might need to ask yourself is the club in the Bizzaro Episode Of Seinfeld because they are actually contemplating It. This Is A Real Possibility unlike The Daniher story line Imo. If it is a Menzel Type deal I am not worried either way. Having said that You are not seeing anything better from Menzel than we seen this year.

Ok guys, good luck with Bennell, **** me.

The off field stuff is still real. ****ing Victorians thinking they know all. Seriously Bruce, what are you reading?

Less than a year ago he was in court as a witness for the defence in a court case involving a couple of his bikie associates who were convicted for beating up someone in a night club while he was present. The judge described him as "unimpressive and unreliable witness".

Earlier this year he was involved in another issue with bikies at a preseason match.

Sounds like his off-field issues aren't exactly ancient history.

He may not be an upgrade but he may just be something different. He's got a tiny bit more explosiveness than any of the three current kingpins of the midfield and doesn't get himself under as much pressure. What's happening in our midfield since about 2017 hasn't been working. We need some pace and dynamism (is that a word?) in there, because we're very stale and one-paced and not very efficient. But suggest changing things up in there and you get laughed off this board.

As for Kenny, I personally don't mind him from the outside looking in. If the boys are happy for him to be there then I don't have a problem with it but to each their own.
I had a chat with Kenny at the SCG in the last round. Tells me he used to be a jockey & they called him “autumn leaves” because he fell off so regularly.

True legend.

I agree there's no guarantee he'll be any good. A long time has passed since his days tearing it up for the Suns, and there is no guarantee he's a changed man, either. Which is why if we were to take him on as anything other than a delisted freebie, I would probably be against it (I was last year when this board was speculating trading him in.) But to be in a position to have a player of his potential, paying him the bare minimum, with the chance to get rid of him at no cost on his first indiscretion ... low-risk, high-reward opportunities like that don't come around too often.

Not enough of that kind of stuff recently. I’ll happily stand corrected.

I do have this thing about footy though that it can be a vehicle for positive change in a bloke if he’s around the right group.

Will hear Daniher very soon
Any word on what the contract will be or what the club is willing to give up for him? Please don't tell me our first pick and 7 years on $800k p.a.
