So much better than all the dribble you have to put up with from the media in general (including ex-players)
I had a chat with Kenny at the SCG in the last round. Tells me he used to be a jockey & they called him “autumn leaves” because he fell off so regularly.

True legend.
True attention seeker.

Am I in the bizarro episode of Seinfeld with the Bennell talk. Guy hasn't played footy for 4 years besides 2 games, having more surgery as we speak, major off field issues, yet people are stoked we want him because of what he did 5 years ago talent wise at the Suns.
Its not like he is our number 1 draft target.. he is a bit of a free hit so I dont really see much downside....either we win or remain in exactly the same position prior to tagetting him....

That seems to be vibe on here. The no dickheads policy no longer exists it seems. Anyway, whatever happens, happens.

Is he that bad off the field? Buddy is testament to what a good woman and a couple of years can do for a bloke's character.

Is there anything recent other than getting approached by a couple of bikies and leaving an event?

Happy to be educated otherwise, but if his recent off field form is good and he's done the work as Lyon says he has, then why wouldn't we give him a shot at redemption?

Or is he more like a Jake King type? In denial.

Just pm'd you.

I think the no DH policy is still in force, at least to some degree.
Last November I attended a coaching seminar and Tadgh Kennelly spoke. He was specifically asked about the potential recruitment of a particular player. Tagh said that shit skills can be coached and trained "but a shit bloke will always be a shit bloke".

So maybe that's why it is reported that Swans players have been seeking references about Bennell.

Why haven’t our skills changed in years?

It well & truly ceased to exist, if it was ever a thing, when we got Barry Hall.
Unfair there I think mate.

By all accounts Barry was a genuinely lovely, gentle bloke off the field and trusted enough by our whole club to be voted in as captain... He just let himself down on the field. His character as a person shouldn't be taken from some poor on field issues.

Having met him twice (once only briefly) he seemed calm, quiet and had a brilliant smile and was very approachable... Happy to have a chat and a laugh. Was brilliant with all the kids there and far away removed from the "Big bad bustlin" that he's been tagged with.

IMO, not a d**khead at all.

Watching Eagles last night and their skill level made me think 2 Arms & Legs just like our Blokes but Poles apart in skill level. Beatson or Darymple or whoever the **** need a rocket up their arse to start drafting blokes who can dispose of a football or it is going to be ****ing Groundhog day for as long as the club exists. Blame Lays fairly & square right there.

Very Impulsive with some stupid acts at times but everything you have said about his personality is pretty spot on. GF Night 2005 coming out of Crown Casino me and my wife going in, the moment he seen that Swans scarf on my Wife he embraced both of Us in a double Bear Hug and ruffling my hair like I was a 5 Year Old. Stood their for next 5 minutes or so talking about the day and how great it was and what we had been up to. Didn't know the bloke from a bar of soap.

Yeh I think about Hall this way for the most part too. He had (maybe still has) true anger problems which he managed to keep in check for much of his Swans career but it got the better of him in the end.

I remember hearing him speak (I think on Open Mike after he retired) and a few things really made things clearer for me with him. Firstly, his upbringing. It sounded like his dad was rough as guts with him. I remember him saying from a young age his dad would drive into him something to the effect of "never let anyone get anything over you" which included being violent/physical with others if you had to be. That kind of influence clearly stuck with him through his formative years.

And then secondly, the failure of the 2006 GF I think had an enormous impact upon him. He said felt he let the side down so badly and did everything he could to rectify it the next year but it seemed like he went overboard with how hard he pushed himself and pressured himself and it all went haywire the next few years.

I think he's a decent guy at his core. He disgraced himself just about forever when he punched out Brent Staker and that's on him, but I don't think he's a bad guy.

Don't totally disagree but when at the Saints he behaved like a DH at times & we still took him so I am making a comparison to the Bennell situation where he too can turn things around at our club. I don't know Baz but I did hear him once say in an interview that he wants to be remembered as a Bulldog, even though he held up our cup.

DH IMO because that should have been Kirk but I respect anyone that feels differently, as I do love him deep down.

Agree but I think that the club has realised that in recent years.

As much as he is loved now, Plugger was a DH when we got him too.
Just ask Peter Caven.
that was pre no dickhead policy. Even the coach was a dickhead back then.
Spider Everitt was a dickhead by his own admission when we got him. But once ensconsed in the blood culture he metamorphisised.
