They will match you would think...the point is they are indictating the use of this pick at the draft table rather that trade tableWould be pretty shocked if GWS doing match for Green. Maybe we're trying to setup a trade with them?
Not Toby Greene...Tom GreenEh? How would we get him with the number 5 pick if we gave that pick to GWS (If that is what you are suggesting)?
I'd pay a premium for sure, but that one sounds a little metaphysical.
He'd totally be worth a selection at that point in the draft though from all accounts...
Would that be even possible - giving them a pick for not matching our Green bid?Would be pretty shocked if GWS doing match for Green. Maybe we're trying to setup a trade with them?
Poor parallel IMO. That's a reason why "the deal seems a dodgy one even if we pay fair value", not "let's hyperventilate because Damian Barrett thinks that we'll pay overs, when in fact the only info he has is his own gut feel of what Carlton and Essendon would want"Because we remember Tippett.
Yes that's one part I did understand. From all reports a total gun mid. Part of their acadamy...99.9% sure they would match our bid at 5 - not that they need him, as he'd be behind a wall of the best mids in the comp...Not Toby Greene...Tom Green
I mean show we're keen on Green so trade out pick 5 for something like their first round and a second.Would that be even possible - giving them a pick for not matching our Green bid?
I trust the club but in this instance (despite the strong possibility that d barratt’s mail is false) decided to express my dismay at the touted three club mega trade. SURELY we get it done without pick 5 .. surely!!!

Well done. Better to complain now rather than complain after the deal is done.I trust the club but in this instance (despite the strong possibility that d barratt’s mail is false) decided to express my dismay at the touted three club mega trade. SURELY we get it done without pick 5 .. surely!!!

If that actually gets forwarded to anyone of note, I'll eat my own face.
Spend a weekend with Hanner and BuddyHow does one eat their own face tho?

Don’t think this post will have the legs the curry discussion had though.
never say never.
D Martin, Fyfe, Riewoldt, B Grundy, De Goey, P Cripps, McLuggage, Bont, Coniglio, C Curnow...Draft picks are grossly overrated
Thats not true. In modern times nearly every good or great player was drafted.Draft picks are grossly overrated
Exactly. Literally only 10 out of thousands of draft picks ever have been successful.D Martin, Fyfe, Riewoldt, B Grundy, De Goey, P Cripps, McLuggage, Bont, Coniglio, C Curnow...
All acquired in the draft.
Giants currently have pick 12 & 18 and nothing until 55. If we bid on Green at pick 5 they need to use both their first round picks and then get pushed back until pick 44.Sorry, not following at all.
We have to bid on him at 5 to have any chance of getting him. If we don't someone else will. Are you saying don't bid, give our pick to GWS and have them deal him to us when a pick does come? Can they trade someone immediately after selecting him in the draft?

We offer GWS pick 5 for their pick 12 and a 2020 first round pick (probably some other things too). This would ensure they have 2 first round picks in 2019 (pick 5 can match 3 & 4 on it's own) and we still stay in 2019 first round but also have more currency for 2020, but we miss out on Green entirely. We just keep talking about how keen we are for Green stating that we'll bid on if we go to the draft with pick 5
Zac Clarke was taken in the draft. Run for the hills !Exactly. Literally only 10 out of thousands of draft picks ever have been successful.
We should avoid it at all costs.
Asking the real questions hereIf we traded pick 5 and 9 for Daniher, how many Craig Birds would that make him worth?
