Hogan probably was worth more last year - similar level of injury issues, but younger and wasn't a FA in 2019 so would have taken a trade regardless if he left. Daniher being a FA next year means that he can't be worth two top 10 picks.

I'm assuming purple is repeating what he's heard from Essendon rather than anything you guys are actually entertaining.

Plus Fremantle were so desperate and have been trying to get a key forward literally since the club was founded.

What if we are all way off the mark & the guy is seriously considering retirement or sitting out of footy & not coming to the Swans at all?
How's this hypothetical?
What if Joe really was just catching up with Harley for genuine advice on what he should do as his body is truly stuffed & he needs another year out of footy? Dr Peter Larkin pretty much said yesterday that he was in big trouble needing the surgery he had & that he would have big question marks over his ability to play going forward.
So let's say that Daniher is not part of any conversation in becoming a Swan.

What is it we are doing? Who is it we are after?
I have been speculating for a month now that it can't be just Daniher if Paps & Jones are on the table.
Daniher, based on the above from Larkin, is a cheap as chips recruit for anyone other team other than us.
I will go out on a limb & say we are & have been into some one else...........big.............for a long time in the planning.

If we have picks 5 & 9(Paps) & Beatson has gone on record as saying we don't rate the draft.
Other than Daniher of 2017, who wouldn't have wanted a bar of the Swans when he was flying, what player that is currently being discussed in trade circles would pick 5 & 9 get us & be worth the effort?

BRODIE GRUNDY!

We're not getting Grundy.

If Damien Barrett’s article regarding the price for Daniher is correct than the swans are mad to consider it. If Carlton want papley for less than pick 9 they can go FO. I will be very worried in our decision makers, if this article is remotely correct

We are always going to pay a premium for a key forward especially a top 5 one...they simply dont get traded.. id suspect danihers contract will be heavily incentive based to lesses the risk or the bombers will be paying a significant portion

don't read the barrett article on afl.com if you want to enjoy your morning.

something 'significant' along with Papley for pick 9.

then we are going to give 5 and 9 for daniher.

Im sorry, but if anything remotely like that happens ... that is the most incompetent piece of list management I have ever seen.

Wait I thought 9 years $10M was our most incompetant list management moment?

Guess we forget about that one now

Id happily take the risk on 5 +9 for daniher...get him fit and he is unstoppable. Poor draft this year aswell. Very slim chance we take anyone with half his talent at those picks anyway

I reported that last night. The Swans board rejected it. I still don't have faith that it is guaranteed not to happen though.

That is how the governance and oversight process works at a club.

The board (with all available information from their football department) will have to sign it off.

If they are steadfast against it, it is going to take Carlton two first round picks to do it.

It’s a 25% chance at best that the deal does get done.

Holy shitballs

I just watched Brodie Kemp highlights.

See for yourself

Draft Prospect Brodie Kemp

A dead set gun. Tall, fast, skillful, athletic, smart.

Are we going to let this bloke go and go and get Daniher?

FFS.

I feel ill thinking about it.

Imagine Kemp, Dawson and Blakey running around together in a few years. Wed be unstoppable.

From what I have heard: Next years draft is apparently weaker than this year which is meant to be alright, just not as good as last years which was perceived as really strong. It will all probably be viewed differently in a few years anyway. I prefer not to throw valuable picks at someone who can’t get on the park. I can’t remember having non academy top 10 picks

I don't get why 75% of the forum was willing to trust Barrett. He's not really a trustworthy journalist and loves to spew shit for clicks.

Because that deal made little sense. Hogan went for 6 + 23 and he was two years younger and had actually played in his trade year....

About to jump on a plane to Los Angeles so hoping I'm not going to be disappointed on the other side. Glad Damien Barrett isn't our list manager. Terrible trade. Hope there's little truth to it.
Safe travels :)

5 and 9 and McCartin or perhaps Rowbottom would be where I’d start.

To get there I’d be happy to sweeten the pot by including the GWS selection, which I think is pretty fair. I don’t think I’m being at all unfair in saying I want a s**tload back for him
Some Essendon board gold.
