Turns out the actual number is 51
My 70+ came from pasting another list into excel and not noticing it was counting some merged cells as 2.
Do I accept culpability or blame the original formatter of the Wikipedia page?

Anyway it's still alot.
It's Geelong's fault they didn't give your family enough support.

Every year we de-list some rookie bloke and everyone wails and gnashes their teeth, and every year they do **** all after that. Ballard, Wood, Vandeluer, Duffy, Uebergang, Kryichtt0n - to name a few in recent times. All shit. All still shit. Hell I even went a bit stroppy over Wood and DeLuca.

With the almost lone exception of Menegola who did nothing on our list for years and took a full season of WAFL after that to actually do anything worthwhile.

For me at least it's not a knock on the player. He just doesn't fit at Peel so what's the point in retaining him. If you've got a 23 yr old playing Peel reserves it's probably a sign that he's a bit surplus to needs.

Meek & Strnadica both had more games than him in the reserves. He only played one. I don't really think it's a big deal. The problem I have is I'm looking at our side in 12-24 months time. When it comes to our ruck department, Sandilands isn't apart of the equation. We have Apeness who is a good possibility to be delisted if he has one more major fitness hiccup. Meek & Darcy are still young and developing - Darcy is ahead obviously but is still incapable of doing the role full-time. If Jones improves his fitness he could very likely by that time be our most experienced and consistent ruckman in the side. Not the best.

Our next patch is going to be heavily reliant on rotating all four of them through the main side - to help us get through the year and deal with inevitable injuries. They all have a long way to go in my opinion, so best to develop and play them as appropriately as possible. For these reasons, I didn't think even with Strnadica on the list then our supply was an issue. I don't think we can be drafting another ruck in this upcoming period and targets seem a bit scarce right now / not worth the potential price.

Need to hope for a 180 in the middle in the coming years. Time for an actual dominant midfield group to come by with the best available serviceable ruck, not the other way around when Sandilands played.

That is what’s silly about this. Gave Apeness an extension based on a month of football then he gets injured. Should’ve been carried out at the end of the year. Now Nads got stuck with being out of contract. It’s pretty poor tbh.
I agree.

Their wouldn't have been a big list of clubs wanting to poach Apeness. Made no sense to sign him early.

Seems to me that maybe, Lloyd isn't a good as people make him out to be.

Why is Jones any more capable than Darcy of doing the role full-time? Think the jury is still out on whether Darcy becomes a dominant ruckman but even at his current level he's serviceable and miles ahead of Jones.

He'd be behind Sandi, Darcy, Lobb and Meek for the no.1 role imo. 2020 he'd move up a spot but I still don't think there's any real need for him that makes it worth screwing Peel over.

Strange!....Its Fremantle and officially wrong!
This is a interesting list...I count 56 delists without playing a game https://www.draftguru.com.au/draft-seasons/fremantle
https://www.draftguru.com.au/clubs/fremantle

Based on this I agree the total number of players who passed through our hands without playing a game is 56. However four of those were on-traded without ever actually coming to the club so they weren't delisted as such (Glenn Freeborn, Andrew McLeod, Darryl Wakelin and Phil Matera).

So I make the number 52.

Haggers said this morning that Sandis injury is not improving at all and the club is worried etc etc....retirement before last list cull?

Duffy did get picked up by a US College football team, so there's that.

Exactly. I also have the belief that Menegola only gets good because he is cut and it's the rocket he needed to make it. Keeping him would not have worked for us or him.

Even if we should have kept him, whinging about it is pointless as he is the exception that proves the rule.

All us BF experts want 50% of the rookies kept longer when in reality they are largely spuds at AFL level (and some WAFL).

So since '97 it has been Mott, Menegola and Carroll? Sounds like the club has made pretty good decisions historically in this regard.

How does it work the other way? Diamonds in the rough who've been delisted without playing a game elsewhere but played at least one game for Freo.
Should exclude Mzungu and any others who arrived through weird pre-listing at GWS or GCS.

I'll start with Spider Burton.

Dawson technically? He wasn't de-listed though, rather he walked in the PSD after declining a contract.

Nick Lower is definitely one.
