For the right price I wouldn’t mind seeing what other clubs would offer for the likes of tucker,Darcy and Cox during trade week.

Throw everything and the kitchen sink at Kelly. We don’t have many Fyfe prime years left. See any more of them Fyfes lining up to join Freo any time soon? Cup or bust. 3 years. None of this slow rebuild, go to the draft rubbish.

I feel there’s pros and cons on either side of the Kelly debate. I’m happy to trade for him all within reason though.

My trade would be pick 5 (Hill) & 20 (Langdon) for Kelly and Geel 2nd as we’d need it for points for Henry. Values TK at pick 3 which is about right. Draft in pick 6 and Henry and a bunch of Hail Mary’s at the end of the draft. There’s definitely positives there to work with in 2020.

Other option would be to take picks 5, 6, Henry and probably a top 35 pick in the draft. Could possibly live trade out 35 for 2x picks in the 40’s or thereabouts. There’s definitely positives there to work with in 2020.

Why would you be trading pick #5 if you have pick #5 and pick #6? Our #5 and #6 will probably end up being #7 and #8 by the time the selection becomes live after GC are gifted pick #1 and GWS match the bid for Green.

I think we should take our picks to the draft, we could do well out of drafting the top two SA players.

Simply because that’s what I think it will take to get the trade done.

But I agree I definitely lean towards going to the draft with all our picks.

I am inclined not to chase Kelly. It makes the club look rediculous to recruit a player that 12 months ago said he would not play for Freo. It is time the club stopped recruiting people that come to Fremantle for money only.

I would rather Bolton, and use Cerra, Blakely, as midfielders with Bolton and Sonny rotating.

There's a Mundy sized half back with a great kick and a very dynamic winger in SA that would allow us to cycle our existing half backs into elite delivery inside fifty rotating them up field.
The winger sounds like a solid first round pick, and if available should be considered, but the Mundy sized half back
we already have 3 of them in the WA U18 team.

Will Gould is playing league, getting nearly thirty touches and a very good kick. He'll slot into half back round one and Cerra can never see that deep in defense again.

I think the other important point is Gould can actually defend...

I'd quite forgotten about Giro. Guy is an even better endurance runner than BHill, has shown he knows how to find the ball and kicks it like Langdon so he would actually be perfect. Bewley could possibly do a decent job on the other side if he has the tank and works out how to get hold of it more often.
Giro did his ACL in June 2019. Unlikely to be playing any football much before the end of April/start of May and even then will take some time to find his feet. Also unproven at AFL level and very much inconsistent at WAFL. Can’t understand how his name can be thrown forward as a replacement for the wing - certainly not for 2020. Only thing going for him at the moment is he can win the 2km and 3km time trials.

Improvement from Colyer and Bewley make them legit options. Tucker another and getting Steven Hill fit is another. Someone mentioned moving Wilson to the wing again another decent suggestion but probably only for bursts as he would need to get himself a fitter.

Draft another quick outside endurance runner (there are a few good options - Hayden Young, Lachie Ash, Dylan Stephens) and also trade for an established player with good potential to go outside and play wing.

Not a popular opinion, but picks are overrated. People love the idea of draft picks because of the potential and underrate what a player has actually shown at AFL level.
I think people, via the media, over value short periods of performance from players in roles that suit the positive attention.

Sam Walsh. Good ball winner. Terrible ball user. Is allowed to run by himself because he turns it over so much, praised for being a ball winning gun.

Do we know of anyone else who wins the ball and is left alone during general field play because he gives it back so regularly? A lot of guys in the media come from a time when getting your hands on it a lot meant you were good enough, they turn to each other to discuss the player before the kick has even landed.

Ed Langdon.

I wouldn't say overrated however I think clubs need to find a good balance between picks, trades and free agency. Failing to give focused attention in all three areas results in list management failings.
I don't believe we can 'just' use picks this year. We have too good a spine to sit and wait for 2-3 high draft picks to be able to endure the AFL season over the next 3 years. Odds are only the highest pick is ready to go in some capacity.
If we don't reinforce our midfield, Fyfe is going to get bashed all over the place next year.

Generally I agree. However picks inside top 5 will more often than not be good players. Getting a 'bust' here is pretty rare.

Depends on the players available to trade for. Tim Kelly I would definitely put a bid in for but not at any cost (some are suggesting Schwabby like trades where we sell the farm - NO THANKS). Set our fair price and be prepared to walk away. The suggestion of one early first round pick plus an early second is fair value, which is similar to Lachie Neale. Neale had a year to run on contract - won two B&F’s, polled ok in Brownlow up to end of 2018, and had played almost 150 games. Kelly has played 2 seasons is a similar age at the time of trading, not yet won a B&F but will poll nicely for the Brownlow. Similar trade value is more than fair - not throwing two early picks at Geelong not an early pick, plus another pick and Darcy. Thanks but no thanks.

If there are no suitable options available to trade get as early a picks as possible and go to the draft.

Anyone else not give a s**t if we don't get T.Kelly? He was pretty disrespectful toward our club last year, I still have a sour taste in my mouth because of it.

If we are losing B.Hill and Langdon I wouldn't mind taking 5 & 6 to the draft.

If the club is expecting finals next year they may be in for a shock.

I'm starting to lean this way. We don't have enough young top-end talent to carry this list through to a premiership - so let's attack the draft and stock up on some more. In an ideal world with no injuries our best 22 is good enough to see us into the lower end of finals - so what. We need a premiership capable list. I wouldn't say the rebuild has failed, we've stocked up on some good players in a good age bracket the young side of prime. But Lyon was right about the list being thin once even a few injuries start to hit.

Kelly - he can come if we pay a fair price and he wants to be here. Sounds like he doesn't though. We don't want players who don't want to be here. It creates a shitty culture. Brisbane had mercenaries leaving for years but they now have a list full of guys who want to play for the jumper and it's working. Yes they had a lot of talent leave, but maybe if they still had Yeo, and Rockliff and Docherty etc they wouldn't be as good because they'd have a bunch of guys playing for themselves. You can't be a good team until the 22 run out are willing to bleed for the club and for each other.

So yeah Hill and Langdon can go, and anyone else that wants to leave. Let's take all those picks, try and do some upgrades to get 2 or 3 top 10's and hit the draft hard.

Maybe if the club plays hard ball and simply puts it to Kelly and Geelong that we won't go along with ridiculous demands, if you want a win win scenario then we can do it but I'm sure we are the only WA team that can afford his salary and the picks youd want within reason.

No pissing around - he wants home then we are his out. If he wants to play a favourites card and make us go overs then catcha later and enjoy Victoria for the foreseeable future.
