Someone has written some crap that I can’t deal with at the moment (naming three players for their skills yet they have yet to play an AFL game - delusional and bizarre)

I normally don’t open a bottle of red until later in the day but I’ve driven to opening one now.

PS : please don’t tag the individual, unnecessary.

Or does it mean the Magpies become an actual SANFL team again, rather than just Power Reserves?

I don't think Port could afford to run a reserves side and a SANFL side that offers no benefit to their football department. The Magpies were going broke when they had to support themselves.

Can already see how many port fans will be against this just because of their history, I personally like the idea but will they need to increase the AFL list size to make full secondary teams? And will the travel cost be worth the crowd numbers?

Virgin's sponsorship covers all flight costs, the same doctors, runners, physios and some coaches would be used for both teams, so a lot of costs would be covered.

Someone tagged me, so I'm back for a bit.

No one ever questioned the talent of Polec and Wingard. It's the application of the talent that was the issue. They were more talented than Westhoff, Wines and Jonas, yet they finished below those three in the best and fairest. That's why Westhoff said it was a mixture of both discipline and skill that sees our list in a better place this year. Lycett, Burton, Mayes, Rozee, Duursma and Butters' discipline + skill > Wingard and Polec's discipline + skill.

Wingard won the best and fairest back in 2013. No one should be celebrating a sixth placed finish for someone who should be playing at his peak. And honestly, on field performance and how you are viewed by your teammates are two vastly different things...which is probably why Chad got the boot at the end of the year.

Polec loves it when everyone else is doing the hard work for him so it makes him look good. He'll slot right in at North, but it won't make a lick of difference.

P.S How confident are you guys that you'll finish above us? What odds will you give me? Cause I'll take up whatever you want to throw at me :)
I didn't tag you

Both players left and you guys are trying to sugarcoat it that it was on your terms. You would have them in a heart beat if they didnt want to leave.

What is it that Wingard has done wrong? Did he ever miss a training session? Was he one of only four players across the league to average 20 possies and a goal a game over two years? Would he rather have a session of Fortnite than get on the booze and hit the clubs?

He is actually one of the few players since Gray and maybe Boak developing into a truly elite player under your system. His role is attacking mid ( not Small Forward) and since making that transition he has been learning it and building quite well. I expect him to have a big 2019.

Polec, yep the guy is a bit if a loner. He was as a junior, was at Brisbane, has been at Port. I got told this by a WWT player a long time ago. But you guys would have known that if you did your due diligence in recruiting him. He too has been building nicely and only missing about 8 or so games in the last three years. And yes your are correct. He is 100% a receiver. He moves the ball up the ground and is quite good at it. That is why North are paying him $700k a year. He will.slot straight in as they play a quick moving brand of Footy with good targets up.fron their coach is not afraid to use.

Not sure why you are so against a player like Polec being a receiver. You are advocating Hartlett to be captain. He is as much a receiver and front runner as Polec.

Pittard will also do well there with the way they play. Some handy steak knives.

End of the day your club is just coming across as pretty and the Koolaid Krew such as yourself are lapping it up. Players move. Accept it and move on.

Yeah we will finish above you guys. Probably by a fair margin. Already got a few bets on with some Tealster mates. It is part and parcel with having a circle of mates that love Footy.

wot? How can you know the discipline and skill level of these 3? They been on a list less than 3 months and haven't yet played an AFL game.. :drunk:
To be fair they are at Port.

The next two seasons they will be at their most skillful and disciplined.

Their development ends now.

Lol - the ironic thing is, Port would actually be "better off" if they got rid of spuds like Westhoff!

So i was go through the different betting agencies today, Port are paying unbelievably $2 to win under 12 games this season. Glory be.

They barely achieved that with Polec and Wingard in their team, with Dixon and Wines out for the early part of the season, this is not a bad bet. Definitely better than 50:50 chances.

Dont worry about players getting injured in JLT. They are now getting injured opening a packet of chips. :drunk:

Smells like bs to me.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-02-20/knife-mishap-puts-north-defender-out-for-10-weeks

NORTH Melbourne key defender Sam Durdin has suffered another blow on the eve of a make-or-break season, with a finger injury suffered in a random home mishap expected to sideline him for up to 10 weeks.

A North spokesperson told AFL.com.au on Wednesday Durdin had suffered a deep cut to his little finger when a knife he was using to open a packet of food slipped.

If he was one of their best players, then that's why they were so garbage last year. He only won the BnF via being consistently average as opposed to any sort of brilliance.

He is a good swing man and stretches the oppositions defence when he goes forward.

Random accidents at home are a bitch! I sliced open my hand once clear to the cavity when I ran down the edge (blade) of a gladwrap box trying to catch something as it fell in the pantry. It is just that simple!

Was their best in B&F in 2018.

If we didnt have Tex, JJ, Fog, Lynch,Talia, Doedee, Hartigan and Keath I wouldnt mind having Westhoff.
me too for sure, one of the better swingman in the league really can even run well on the wing specifically for his height

he wouldnt be BNF players in most teams but he is easy 22 for probably all teams infact could argue he would be a better player for a better team

I think they will go u12 games well before August. Meaning the bookie should be paying out that bet by around July.

v2
In the 22 games

Port will definitely lose 8 games.

9 games are 50:50, I do think we will win both showdowns this year. Meaning they will need to win their remaining 7 games just to get to 11 wins. Unlikely.

4 games they will definitely win.

6 WINS 3 50/50 12 LOSSES

Happy to concede that they will beat the Lions at AO, they wont away. Lions will be a stronger team this year.

By the start of July will only have 5 wins.

Losing my faith in Kenny will be at full throttle. They will turn on him. Especially if they endure a 5 game losing streak to end the year off.

Funny thing is I cant see too many pulling our selections apart. Most might quibble over 1 or 2 but most would concede thats their year
