Supposedly we're only offering 2, he wants 4. He's never had a real payday before, so he's gunning for the biggest deal he can get.
I rate him as a player and I know it’s becoming more common but personally I’d be hesitant offering 4-5 to anyone. I just see too many clubs including ours get stung

Did their review find this ? Genuine question.

Their external review was more about the board and and business functions I believe, however Geoff Walsh did an internal review on the football department when he came back to the Pies at the same time.

Geoff Walsh's credentials blow away anyone working at the Crows however, so I would expect his review would uncover a hell of a lot more than if someone like Burton ran one. But Pies put in a talented head of football and look how results turned around for them after their shit years.

Players leaving this year may be inevitable and sad. The worst part from my perspective is that if the club didn't have their collective heads up their own arses and started a transparent and fully external review earlier an exodus may not happen or even be necessary.

Both Collingwood and Richmond were shrewd enough to start theirs mid season .. giving the clubs time to make the necessary structural and personal changes prior to heading into their preseasons

Maybe, but I do doubt it. We were firmly coming to the end of this core, it's a hard argument to continue with them after two bad seasons.

I'm not or wasn't really talking about the older players on the list. What concerns me more is that if there isn't a realisation that the current system isn't working and they take too long to make change other players may walk

I love the chicken but has he simply summarized all the Twitter and bigfooty goss or received his information hot from the managers? Or are these inextricably linked?

Grab the popcorn, only 6 more weeks to nab trade week radio

If the review comes back saying we should sack Campo and Burton, we'll ask for a second review
"The reviewers aren't inside the four walls during football season."

Speaking of that phrase... have a looksie here from 2010:

Neil Craig is misunderstood: he is not a dull scientific boffin but a cheeky, funny man.

So says evergreen Adelaide Crow Brett "Birdman" Burton, who has leapt to the defence of his embattled coach.

Burton says it is unfair that Adelaide coach Craig is copping it from all quarters after overseeing four losses to start the AFL season.

The high-flying forward said Adelaide's players must take responsibility for the predicament, and rejected criticism of Craig's meticulous methods.

Burton said Craig, who holds a sports science degree, was not the intense scholarly figure he is often portrayed as.

"In terms of Neil's seriousness, that is what you guys see in the media and I guess that is what supporters see because Neil is very controlled, he's very professional," Burton said.

"But if you guys could step inside the four walls of this footy club, you would see that he's humorous, he's cheeky... he is a great person to be around and he is fun and we find him enjoyable, so we don't see that as an issue.

"The scientific side, people keep drawing on that - it's an advantage for us, it's an advantage to have a senior coach that actually knows about the science of the game.

"His ability to be able to assess the game is so much better than some of the other guys because he's got that education.

"His knowledge of the game is just as good as anyone else's so you can cross that one off as well."

Burton said Craig's game plan was proven last season when the Crows finished fifth.

"There is nothing wrong with the game plan, I don't think we have changed a lot since last year," he said.

"Let's (players) get out our backyard right first, let's stop fumbling the footy, let's start hitting kicks and the game plan might work - we don't have a problem with the game plan.

"We showed to a high level last year that it can work, and we have got great belief that it can work again.

"But at the moment, we have got players in our group that aren't taking the ball cleanly, we're not hitting kicks, so we can't judge the game plan when we are not doing the simple things."

Unfortunately Brett, after all you're just another brick in the wall.

2 year deals offered to both HG and Keath reportedly.

Good list management, crazy if we were offering 4-5 years given their age.

Greenwood reminds me of Ricky Henderson... playing his best footy now

What did the Hawks offer him?

IIRC we delisted Henderson, and HAW picked him as a DFA

I’ve said it before and been caught myself, there is little to no value in sharing anything on this board - there’s always a clown who wants to ask stupid questions.
You learn quickly what to post and what to PM .....but I agree, and that's sad

To change track, I think the only player rumour I'm not a fan off so far is Matt Crouch, as he gives a good building block to base a midfield around. Rest I'm very ok with moving them on so far.

Would love to see Lynch go as well (or Tex, but I'll assume he'll be impossible to move on this off-season) to really open up that forward line and get the Fogarty, and Himmelberg 22 games a piece. Both have shown enough that they need proper investment, and now is the best time for it.

Bingo. Lynch and Jenkins need to be gone.
