Hopefully Steven gets his life straightened out and is a force next year , because we need him more than Geelong.
People involved in our club never thing positively about might unfold and the media certainly doesn't.

But considering we have salary cap space to bring in a couple players over a million a year we are a very good chance of securing a couple very good players , but what makes it realistic is we have the personnel now to make it happen.

No doubt our ties with GWS through Allan will have us in better shape to have a go at getting a Coniglio or Whitfield - of course Coniglio would be the ideal pick up being a free agent , but Whitfield no doubt will be also another player that will be hitting free agency next year and the chances of keeping him would be slim.
So I would not be surprise if behind closed doors Whitfield and Allen have had talks because as we know , they know each other well.

Imagine having a fit Steven , Whitfield and B.Hill thrown into the side with perhaps Hannebery to top it off.

That would be 4 top line mids into our line up and would make us look more than a finals contender , but a flag contender.

Just getting Carlisle back to full fitness , Webster , Steven , Hannebery , Geary back into our 22 will make us stronger and then adding a Crouch and Whitfield would be game changing with the likelihood of a fit Max King showing improvement and a few others that could blossom out of nowhere.
For instance I wouldn't count out a guy like Austin , he has been unseen this year due to injury , we know from the first year he played he can get plenty of the football and when he comes back he could well be a eye opener.
Bytel is another.

All I know is the club has not looked this good for many years - when have we had such good management and such a young squad with huge upside , plus a team atmosphere fueled by a great coach that can lift the spirits of a team that seamed brow beaten at times from the previous coaches defensive pressure mantra.

Anyway I'm looking forward to see if Webster , Steven and Hannebery can get back onto the park and getting some game time and then looking forward to the trade period - because it could well be the biggest trade period in this clubs history.

I think the club's will find middle ground and get Jack to where he wants to go. We won't be getting a first round pick for him. 36 seems like too much of a steal. We'll have to see what else you end up with in the trade period but I'd be surprised if we can't work it out.

You’re a great poster bird_man but I hope we have more astute negotiators at the club.

I agree we’ll get Jack to Geelong if that’s where he wants to go but I think they should be sorely disappointed if they are expecting a bargain.

Agree to disagree

Yeah pretty much.

Buts let not upset some of the natives and their beliefs that they know everything.

your mail is very very very good. it's just a pity you and MG do not post as much as you used to. you still frequent here but i really do miss MG's contribution. blokes a gun!

Yeah, I might have mixed them up, then I don't want him as much now. ;)

Actually just compared them he still gets a lot of uncontested possession so must do a bit more than stand around the centre dishing it off. Much more contested though.
That's only because he has his brother and sloane in there as well - ideally he'd be at the coalface or on the pine

Tom Morris “On the Couch” convinced Stuv will be at the Cats next year.
Cats players Constable and Abbott in the mix.
Healey reckons we only get a second rounder for Jack 😠

Brad Hill 100% requesting a trade and Saints are the front runner. Gubby all over it.
Yeah but healey also reckoned Jack hadn't played for two years....

Can I ask why Whitfield would have anything to do with gubby and I’m not sure how many times I can tell you he certainly is coming this year. As isn’t cogs. Reckon we get hill though. Rather crouch and trade dunstan. No point in having both.

passing on mail is great, doesn't always come to fruition and obviously there's a lot of BS (brian speakings) along the way, but being all floggy/I told you so about it is sad and deserves to be called out, especially when there are cases that said poster 'told us so' and ended up being 'completely f***ing wrong'

either way not that he cares I rate stav

Most of the media have very little interest in our club so I wouldn't worry about what some commentator comments about.
I haven't heard anyone mention that we have had the youngest team on the park most weeks and never hear that we are full of young talent when we have Steele , Gresham , Marshall , Billings , Battle , Lonie , Wilkie , Langlands , Hunter Clark , Coffield , Long , Parker , McKenzie , Acres , Paton , Hind - only 3 of these guys who are 23 or under have played more than 50 games.
Then look at our older guys Membery 25, Webster 25, Dunstan 24, Bruce 27, Carlisle 27 , Ross 26 , Hannebery 28, Steven 29, Geary 31 only 3 guy's over 30 ( Armitage and Brown)

we are looking far better than a lot of clubs heading into the future - Hawks , Cats and Crows have massive question marks due to the fact they have to fill massive holes in there side when most of there aging champions retire or pushed to retire in the next couple years.

I’d say Steven 99% gone guys. Hindsight is always great but if we had our time again we trade him last year.
This is just my opinion but I think we will say to Jack that we understand that he’s gone through a tough time and we want to get him to Geelong but they also have to step up and ensure we end up happy with the outcome.
After the Hannebery backlash we can’t seem to stuff up another trade, especially for a well liked guy like Stuv.
Realistically I think if it’s a straight trade and Kelly/Hill not involved I think we end up with one of their young mids, there’s one in particular I know we are keeping a VERY close eye on.
We have also entered into negotiations with a KPP free agent. With money to burn I think he would be a solid get.

Maybe not Jelly, but we may well get our just deserts with this recruit.

Ah, but you are wrong. The Cats cannot afford to wait. If the Cats were thinking "future", they would not be thinking Steven at all. They are thinking Premiership in the very short-term.

This year and next year are their year's to have a crack. After that their aging list will become a real problem. As it stands their list has 10 players who will be 29 or older when next season starts. Ablett and Taylor will be gone. Hawkins are Selwood would both be 33. Danger will be 31 and past his best etc etc

The Cats will want Steven in 2020 in order to have one last crack at a flag.

Absolutely correct. Geelong are structured for a tilt at the flag now. Most of their best players are on the downward side of the hill. They need Steven now. Time is running out for them. Fast.

The fact remains Steven is one of our best (if not our best) players. We forget how good he was last year. Even this year he was electrifying when we played Melbourne at the MCG as an impact player playing high forward. I was at that game. He was fantastic. Our guest on this forum didn’t dispute how good Steven still is but arrogantly wants him on the cheap.

If Geelong want him they pay a fair price. And that is not a second round pick. Stuff that. Cough up their first round pick and a lad or a second round pick and a very good lad, we then give a later pick back if their first pick is involved.

Sorry. Rant over. But we need to get fair value while still being cognisant to the needs of the player.

What’s the name of the kpp. Be nice to know before And yes constable was mentioned by a fair few yesterday. Beautiful posting. Giving nothing but enough to say I told you so
Roughy...awesome get. Play him next to Patty and Big Lewie for extreme defensive pressure.

I reckon fair value is their first pick or a good player. Can’t see how we get both.
