If he is any good then why not. Does 6 weeks playing mid make you a mid though? He has played mostly forward except the final 6 weeks of the season from what I have read. If that’s the case, Sam Gray is more of a mid then Allen.

there are some things bigger than football. it has nothing to do with weather or not the club thinks its a good recruitment. it's not a football issue.
i am capable of making my own decisions on what is acceptable behaviour. i don't need the club to decide that for me. because the club employs him doesn't mean i then just accept it.
i'm not supporting a club employing someone of his character. sorry but if that happens, i'm out.
the bloke is an absolute **** wit.
if you want your football club to have someone like in that and all the shit that comes with it. then go for it. i aint having my kids associated with that shit.

Bennell has absolutely no place in a club that is rebuilding its image as an inclusive club that's family orientated.

Matt Allen, not Oscar, they won't let Oscar go. Matt Allen was on SEN today saying he'd been forced out because of Kelly coming, says he's an inside mid. He was emergency on a lot of games over the last couple of years. Partington is also another worth looking at. Both good back up mid stocks.

FFS Hill got locked up himself 2 x pre seasons ago - how could he be a character referee for anyone? I was against Trouts private school pretty boy policy, but Bennell is in a league of his own with off field discretions.

i just won't be involved with someone like that at our club. not worth it.
I am talking about Matt also. Read an article today about him moving to the midfield for the last 6 weeks of the season at WAFL level. Play mostly forward/utility most of his career it said.
If he showed more promise than his delisting suggests than it would be a better option than a late draft pick. Likewise Partington and Hibberd.

Serious question and not having a go at anyone but what has Bennell actually done that we know of other than racking that line back in the day? I know he's got a bad reputation but how much is innuendo and how much is fact?
I saw it posted that he has bikie associates with I genuinely dislike but then again Gardi had some colourful mates and he fitted in ok.

Could very well go the same way, but he wouldnt really cost us anything but a list spot for 1 year if we take him as a rookie. It seems we are taking a risk with a couple of list spots every year, which i like as a strategy. Weve lost Stuv, Paddy, Lewy, Billy, Armo, Rowe who didnt really play at all last year and replaced them with Ryder, Hill, Jones, Butler and Howard, which means we basically have an extra 5 players who either definitely will be or could be a decent choice in our best 22.
What im trying to say, it we took Bennel and it didnt work out it wouldnt effect our depth. If he gets his act together we have a gun player for nothing. Winning
