It's better to be embarrassing than a non entity. We are irrelevant these days, might as well get the disco back to Linton Street.

It'll be rocking Feb 20th

Matt Allen, not Oscar, they won't let Oscar go. Matt Allen was on SEN today saying he'd been forced out because of Kelly coming, says he's an inside mid. He was emergency on a lot of games over the last couple of years. Partington is also another worth looking at. Both good back up mid stocks.
Plus all of WCE lovely IP.

Tim Gossage the WA announcer said he's too good to not be on an AFL list and mentioned his disposal and said he's uses the ball well. He was drafted as a forward but claims he's a mid, at 193 gives a point of difference.

Re Bennell- geelong, melb, us, sydney all reportedly looking at him. Says a bit imo that the industry hasn't given up on him and many in it see an upside. I highly doubt we would be crucified if we grabbed him and it went pear shaped. It's not like we are the only team looking at him

I'm more worried that if it goes pear shaped for him, he'll drag someone else with him

Potential payoff is too good to not take a chance on, particularly when he plays in an area where we have a massive need. Our “great character from good stock” approach failed miserably.

I like the fact that the club is backing its culture in, and testing the waters with Bennell. Whether or not the club decide to take it any further will naturally depend very much on the medical and weighing up his character. IF, & it is a BIG IF, he is worth the risk then absolutely get him in. If we snapped him up as a rookie, then great. Minimum cost for big reward or simply minimum cost If it doesn't work out. If not, then give him a heavily conditional, performance and social based contract. Sometimes blokes like Bennell benefit best from regiment and structure. Not prison style, but more military.

there are some things bigger than football. it has nothing to do with weather or not the club thinks its a good recruitment. it's not a football issue.

i am capable of making my own decisions on what is acceptable behaviour. i don't need the club to decide that for me. because the club employs him doesn't mean i then just accept it.

i'm not supporting a club employing someone of his character. sorry but if that happens, i'm out.

the bloke is an absolute fu** wit.

if you want your football club to have someone like in that and all the shit that comes with it. then go for it. i aint having my kids associated with that shit.
I find reading your opinion of the young man more offensive than anything he has done that I've read about.

I love this quote
Martin’s opinion of Bennell is sought by football department officials, who interview Bennell later that day. Martin advises them against recruiting Harley, telling the Tigers that Bennell is ‘‘too loose’’.

If Dustin Martin thinks you’re a bit loose, where does that leave you?

I don’t need to become “relevant” again on the back of a Harley Bennell.

"Harvey Bennel's bid to join a new AFL club in disarray tonight after an absurd video emerges showing a drunken Bennel being chased by police through the Melbourne CBD with a person who can only be identified as 'Diehard Saint' perched 'relevantly' on his back."

look, it's not my finest work, but at least I saw it through

Oh I’m ready to believe if Sydney or Geelong picked him up and it went bad they’d be patted on the back for ‘giving a young bloke a chance’

Us? Nah we will get hammered if it goes wrong. Don’t doubt it for a second
