Masten , Mitch Brown , you must be kidding me ,,your sounding like the desperate bloke at the disco picking up the scraps as the doors are closing ,
At least Harley can play when - if right

Tim Gossage the WA announcer said he's too good to not be on an AFL list and mentioned his disposal and said he's uses the ball well. He was drafted as a forward but claims he's a mid, at 193 gives a point of difference.
Pick 62 in 2015 - yet to play a game - prefer taking a punt on Bennell.

If he's fit enough put him on a very incentive based contract for year and delist at the first sign of a problem.

Harley Bennell may very well be a loose cannon .... or not (media can exaggerate) so he witnessed a couple of his bikie associates bashing another bloke, not that I condone the bashing, but there possibly could have been an unpublished reason behind it. Oh & then there was the time he turned up to training drunk.
Won’t be the first or last footballer to have bikie friends and go out on the town during footy season, remember Dane Swan pretty handy footballer, had bikie associates & admits to drinking during season.
I for one would take the chance on him.

Yes to Masten, no to Bennell. Masten is around the Newnes mark. Great attitude, elite preparer, elite tank, durable. Won’t be our favourite player but won’t butcher too many of the 17-20 touches he gets when gets the call up. Will provide insight into the way West Coast go about it. Will be a good mentor for the likes of Phillips.

If any club seriously thinks it can change Harleys attitude towards life they have another thing coming. This guy will need a minder, and will become a great distraction for the team and administrators like Lethlean.

I've changed my mind on Harly. For some reason l thought he was about 23-24yo still but he's just turned 27.
I hope we don't bother with him now.
Taking on a young fella with some issues is different to someone who'll be reasonably senior with our group.
Throw in the chronic injuries and the press constantly sniffing around.
Local scumbags will also drawn to him, looking for opportunity.

In this case, we stay in the path and ignore the shiny object on the ground.
The club has done oh-so well this off season and will need to ride the wave of positivity into next year.
Just one little incident could derail us.
Melbourne is a much better fit IMO.

He sometimes gets 20 touches in the WAFL.
He "did" win the best and fairest for East Perth in 2018.
Must be 22 yo i guess.

Seems a bit too Vanilla for my liking, and his height doesn't make him more talented.

Phillips shouldnt even be on the list , talk about bland , Who's spot does Masten take as he is just more junk depth ,,,,,,Enough

The best clubs back themselves and their systems to get players like Harley performing and within the ethos of the club.

The tigers took a bloke who spent time in jail and turned him into a premiership player and the poster boy of taking a chance.

I want my club to recruit talent above the choir boys we have had running around in the last 6/7 years. If Bennell is fit then he should be someone we take. Simple.

In this game you don’t win anything without taking chances. A lot of fans believe had we taken cousins we would of had another flag...

Can anyone else elaborate on our interest in/Chance of getting Harley Bennell in?

Not asking for opinions, only seen us mentioned once in the media.

No because I don’t pay for the Herald Sun. But I agree that Murray fits our age profile. Bennell will be 27 for the whole of next year. Wow does time fly. But I would stay away from Murray.
Bennell is a bit like Menzel who we were interested in. Sometimes it's better to take a risk on kids

You don't find assaulting someone offensive... ok then.
You might have to help me out, can't find a source on him being done for assault.
There was the Bali dust up.
There was him being present as his mates bashed someone who had threatened his life..

Didn't Webster assault someone?
Kid in their early 20s get drunk and get in fight at the pub. Wowee that kind of thing never happens in your white picket fence world?
Remember too these kids are on tv and have braver souls than you talking shit directly to them on a night out, not just from behind the keyboard.

If we have to give someone a second chance Sam Murray would be my choice, much younger and has learnt from his mistake early on, unlike Harley.

I used to compare his career with David Armitage ( who was taken a year earlier ) and i always thought Dave was a slightly better player ( until after 2016. Who would have thought in 2015 that Dave would be washed up two years later ).
Masten has been more durable but he's not getting better.
If we had to choose whether to play Sinclair or Masten as a mid , i'd be happy to choose Sinclair.

There are players under 25 doing great in the VFL who have never had a shot, and I'd prefer one of them take the spot.
Mitch Hibberd is 23 and is doing real well as an inside mid. Most of his time at North was HBF i think.

I think what people overlook with Harley is that he has stared morality in the face this time. He was always going to get another gig after the suns. Right now he is a mistake away from being done and with a young kid to provide for and a good women keeping him on track I think he will be ok.

a lot of people do dumb things in their early 20s. Multiple that when you have 500k of disposable income and your famous.

All the reports about Pickett were that he had turned his life around, the Tigers didn't do it.

The Hawks took a guy that no-one else would take, and found out why.

From what i've heard Bennell isn't exactly settled.
If he came to the Saints, would Ryder and Hill be a good influence on him, or would he be a bad influence on the likes of Jake and Dan.

Oh I’m ready to believe if Sydney or Geelong picked him up and it went bad they’d be patted on the back for ‘giving a young bloke a chance’

Us? Nah we will get hammered if it goes wrong. Don’t doubt it for a second

I doubt that would happen exclusively to us. I don't buy in to the whole "media have it in for us" mentality. The fact is, over the years we have given them the ammunition ourselves. I reckon we are portrayed like a sexy club when things are going well.

He’s WCE’s whipping boy, so could fill a role..

And we have no one in the media that is "a friend" who has enough influence to kill or minimise a story, what we would have given for an Eddy or a Robbo to help hide the mess.

'The report states Bennell did nothing wrong during the altercation.'

Did anyone chuck their memberships in when Michael Gardiner joined?

I don't think you got the point of that incident.

Why are Bikers singling out Bennell, rather than all the other footy players? Is he just unlucky?
" the incident is being investigated as part of a police probe into organised crime "

Gardiner was always considered to be under the influence of Ben Cousins i think, rather than the influencer, and i can't quite remember but i think there was a certain amount of him wanting to get out of West Coast and that environment.
Also...we don't know how much he might have contributed to things we later heard about the likes of Sam Fisher.
