List Mgmt. 2020 Draft Thread

I think you’ll find that 2021 first will come at a premium this year. Supposedly a very very strong draft, way less compromised. Clubs will be keen to get a second first rounder in the bank for next year, so I’d imagine we’d be able to do a bit better than a late 2020 1st for our 2021 first if we went down that path.
If we were to trade out our '21 first I'd hope we could get a pick higher enough to jump a Reef bid. Would be great if we could also net a '21 third or fourth rounder (points for Daicos) in any such deal.

In: decent '20 first round pick + '21 third or fourth
Out: '21 first round pick

Wish the AFL would hurry up and announce what list sizes will look like next year. May not be any point in getting excited about this years crop (outside of McInnes) as we may have minimal picks. Could just be McInnes and some rookie list upgrades. Don't we have a few players like Mihocek etc that need to be moved from the rookie list this off season due to them being on there too long?

Just Mihochek I think.
Lynch was moved from the rookie to senior list end of last year.

Other rookies we have would be.
Keane and Tohil are Cat A/B.
Dunn
Broomhead
Tom Wilson

Is Madgen a rookie? I don't remember.

Keane is Cat A
Tohill and Wilson Cat B
Madgen is cat B, but needs to be moved to the senior list because he’s been on there for 3 years.
Basically at the end of the season we’ll have 1 cat b spot and 1 cat a spot free, assuming list sizes are cut to 2 cat A rookies, with Dunn and Broomhead both departing.

Thanks. I get confused who is Cat A and B lol

COLLINGWOOD

Draft picks (after home and away season):
12, 35, 39

The type of player they should target: Front-half players who can address scoring issues

Ideal player: Elijah Hollands

Father-son/Academy prospects: Reef McInnes

Collingwood’s forward line has looked messy at times in 2020, but Nathan Buckley seems to have pretty much found his finals formula, even if Jaidyn Stephenson’s form has been underwhelming this year. But a player like Elijah Hollands would help the club pepper the scoreboard more. The 188cm prospect is a creative forward-half player who knows how to hit the scoreboard and can play as a marking option inside 50. He hasn’t played for the entire season after an ACL rupture in February, but he would be a player with plenty of interest inside the first 10 selections.

Either we have to Trade Up or Hope his Knee's Medical does not come back well for a Chance to Draft Holland

COLLINGWOOD
INDICATIVE DRAFT PICKS:
12, 34, 37, 68

PICK SWAPS ALREADY DONE

The Magpies hold Richmond’s second-round selection, North Melbourne’s third-round selection and St Kilda’s fourth-round selection but are without their own second-round (with Brisbane), third-round (with Fremantle) and fourth-round (with GWS) picks.

WHAT DID THEY DO IN THE FIRST AND SECOND ROUNDS OF THE DRAFT LAST YEAR?

The Magpies did not have a first-round selection in last year’s draft after trading it out as part of the DAYNE BEAMS trade in 2018. Port Adelaide ended up with the Pies’ pick 18 and selected forward MITCH GEORGIADES. Collingwood used its second-round pick on athletic midfielder JAY RANTALL.

WHO’S IN THE MIX THIS YEAR?

The Magpies will be hoping a bid does not come on their Next Generation Academy prospect REEF McINNES before their first selection, which would potentially allow them to snaffle two high-end talent players.

A versatile player from Oakleigh Chargers, McInnes is a big-bodied player at 193cm who can win the contested ball, has clean hands and is good in clearance situations. He spent much of his time down back for the Chargers last season, but has also shown his ability to run through the midfield and play forward.

A key-forward could also be on Collingwood’s shopping list this year, a player like 199cm Northern Knights first-round draft prospect NIKOLAS COX one who could fit the bill.

Interesting as he’s not even a key forward. 😂

Who of the top 10 prospects can be matched it’ll be interesting how far we’ll slide and if we’d have to trade up to try and get Reef and somebody else.

at least 2 picks JUH for the dogs. Swans have a top 10 academy prospect too.

I know geelong got pick 10 from west coast but where did they get it from? Was it on traded from a priority pick
It was pick 11 (downgraded to 10 because of freo's points I think), and it didn't come from West Coast. It came from GC. They traded their compo pick so they can get Jeremy Sharp in last years draft.
