Seriously underrating players that have missed with a variety of reasons

My point is that Essendon over valued Shiel and Daniher. The result is that they have no depth on their list, little if any real talent coming through. To add GWS overrated Coniglio paying him way too much and what happened? The club was forced to drop their captain whose earning $1 M + per season and they missed finals...

Let's save this for end of next year, when Higgins has put in a preseason. Prior to his medical issue, was one of the most dangerous small forwards that found the ball with ease through the middle

J.Higgins is a gun footballer whose not worth a 1st round pick at this stage of his career.

I'm sorry mate, but this scenario is just ridiculous.
You're better of spending your time on other things rather than trade scenarios that don't have a snowballs chance in hell of happening.
With respect, that is.

We are talking shite about Carlton... I just put a scenario out there. Respectfully, I'm happy spending my time how I see fit.

Not sure why you are bringing up 2 other players that were never being discussed

Yes he is

Yes he is

Im making the point that players are over valued and a club doesn't need to sell the farm for a single player. Higgins is NOT worth trading a first round pick and getting Stack for less than a second round pick is achievable.

No team is giving up a first round pick for Higgins without something coming back the other way. That would mean he isn't worth a first round pick.

Overlap from defence is literally the issue we're out trying to fix in this trade period alongside pace in the midfield, so I'm not sure how targeting an undersized general defender helps us out.

In the 22 games he's played since R1 of 2019, Higgins has been a multiple goal scorer on exactly 2 occasions, averaging a whopping half a goal a game. Respect that he's playing more a defensive forward role at times, but he's not doing much of that either, nor setting much up.

He is objectively Richmond's weak link in the forward line, and remains a silly first round pick.

GWS aren't paying him $1M though. The AFL is paying a fair chunk of it.

100% NOT worth a first round pick, but he would fit into our team well... Stack with an improvement in his professionalism would also fit into our team. My original point was that having higgins and stack in our team would be of greater benefit than McGovern and/or JSOS. Just in terms of impact. Mcgovern played a majority of games this season and had ZERO impact and we played most of the season without JSOS. Does JSOS make us a better team? NO he doesn't

The age old question of talent vs system has to be addressed too, you can't just expect to transplant players from one club to another and expect to get that statistical output.

McGovern and JSOS can both make us better, when used the right way (and when fit), particularly McGovern. We also need some senior depth.

I agree and disagree ... based on output neither of them make us a better team. I like JSOS but getting a 3rd round pick for him to get a player like Stack would be well worth it. Assuming Stack commits to improving his professionalism.

I am not sure if the rumours of JSOS on his way out are true ? And if so i would be seriously pissed because he's quite a good player and getting better each season..
And for mine, most posters on here seriously underestimate his value to our team make up and dare i mention it culture..
His determination and heart are plain to see and he bleeds Blue we need him at the Carlton FC i am in no doubt.
A mistake just seeing this as purely footy business if we let him leave.

I agree he has determination and heart, but he doesn't have the 'skills to pay the bills'. McGovern, JSOS and Kennedy wont be missed. We can win games without them in the team. We need players that will win us games if we want to be successful.

I'm not sure many want him to leave, more a case of he might choose to because of what happened with his dad.

Higgins is worth a 1st round pick
He's not - his value is given by what clubs would pay for him. No club would pay a first for him his injury knocks his value down no matter what you think the starting point is. He's not worth a first round without the injury, regardless. Like the way he plays and thinks he's a good player but clubs don't value his role that highly, and he's not even top 10 in the league in his position. All adds up to not a first.

IMHO, Higgins is a first rounder

People have short memories, forgetting his output prior to his medical issues
