I think you're on to something here
I mean Morris, Edmund, Rendell & Barrett my god some heavy weights there it must be right

Hurley would be a Salary dump, just like Webster.
Actually might just be a player swap.
Well someone would need to be paying for Hurley for the next two and it wouldn't be Essendon.

All this talk is actually about keeping Jake but on a two year contract with triggers for an additional year.

Can’t help but think of Jack Steven’s prospects of cracking back into that Geelong team with Smith and Higgins being added.

I get romantic thinking about a homecoming. Get fit, play forward/mid, all is forgiven, win a flag.

Stupid, I know.

Yeah, I have NFI what is going on re Carlisle?
Really perplexing

Between carlisle's back and hip, I think he has 20-30 AFL games left in him. Just my hunch, but I know the hip injury of 3-4 years ago was a real battle for him, and the amount of work he needed every week to get through training and playing is likely to wear him down at some point.

I don't think he is underrated by the powers to be, but I think they are just being practical. He really is a good reader of the play. If his body slows him down any more, I think he will be done sooner than later.

The above is just my take on things. I really like the guy, rate him as a player, but if we trade him, I will understand that the club will have their reasons.

But Hurley is on about double Websters wage. We are losing Jake because we don't want to pay him so much. Makes no sense.
I could understand going after Talia to replace Jake
But i would take Jake over Hurley everyday of the week

Jack has been left in the oven longer than Hurley has
He is done

Agreed. I love jack but honestly I Wouldn’t want him back Even if he was available. Unless we win the flag in 2021-22 and he comes back as a 34 year old for one last premiership. Then I’m happy.

i don’t know what worries me more. Carlisle going or Hurley coming.

hope both are wrong but god if Hurley is coming I don’t think I can see that as a positive at all.
Hope ol mate deewhy is wrong about our interest in him.

It's not his back and hip, they dropped him while in form THIS year. It's clear as day the coaching crew don't see him part of the future and as i have said before it's his attitude. I used to love Carlisle but have dropped away in the last 18 months or so because i am over his body language.

Wouldn't surprise me either if his negative body language translates to cancerous behaviour behind the scenes although i am stabbing in the dark with this.

Does he make us a better team when he's firing? Yep
Is he a good fit for the club moving forward? No.

We are in need of a KPD and maybe the story of this years trade period is yet to unfold. Someone mentioned Freo has surplus stocks so maybe we can start fishing in that pond.

A good friends best mate is very high up at the Tigers. Thought I'd try to get a little inside info on Jack Higgins...

He said he won't even go there with his mate, he gives nothing away, he's a pro.

Got me thinking, who predicted the Crouch nomination? Kane Cornes seemed to get onto it the morning before the nomination was made, probably once it was given the all clear to be public info. Before that, crickets.

This whole ITK thing is kind of funny but if we have anyone at the club feeding every bit of info out there I'd be worried. The Crouch situation suggests we don't.
Can confirm as true.

Hurley is a poor one on one defender. It's been a weakness of his for many years. He was a good interceptor and rebounder which kept him at a pretty good level and papered over his weaknesses, but even that has dropped away now. He's over 30, not a good lockdown key defender, is not far off cooked and has a large contract that we'd have to absorb. I highly doubt we are interested.

Would rather play Joyce over Hurley... going to be super hard to move off the ball.

Might be easy to run off of though...

Always shocked by the Carlisle love on here.

Turning circle of the queen mary, terrible against the big forwards, should be a leader but has TERRIBLE body language when things aren't going well (See Geelong game where he'd get beat one on one against Hawkins and turn around and flame one of the young guys) and has terrible disposal coming out of the backline, just goes for little dinky kicks, has absolutely no power in his legs anymore.

His only decent attribute is his intercepting which all of our backs do well now. We're going to get a rock solid, no frills full back who jut gets the job done, Doug will go out more towards CHB where he can be more attacking/play loose and help out the FB and Wilkie, Long, Coff etc will cut off the rest.

Carlisle is grossly overrated on here. He WAS good when we got him, but 4-5 years down the track he's slower than anything.

I reckon if Nath Brown stayed in the hub we would've been playing him over Carlisle tbh.

'grossly' , huh? Nice balanced viewpoint, likely to convince a total of nobody at all.

Yeah Carlisle's cooked - that's why we've offered him a new contract. The issue is purely and simply the length of contract we've offered.

He wants longer than we are prepared to offer ATM - that doesn't mean he isn't wanted.

But given he's looking around (with our blessing) his manager would have been clearly told - we want him but under these terms but don't get offended if you hear about us looking at alternatives just in case Jake does get an offer we can't match.
