Pick 1 was never on the table and I'm wondering if we actually offered to trade for it before or after Richmond?
Richmond still have 6 picks so will be interesting what they do and I don't believe they offered us 7 & 15

There is absolutely no need to trade back today unless there is an AFL listed player involved.

Picks can be traded even on draft night so it makes sense to make any trade where we split picks on the draft night.

If we make a deal today around draft picks, it will only likely be because there is a player involved. That's why I suspect it may be a case of trying to trade up.

If North are willing to part ways with #1 pick if they can get a player and Callaghan, then I would not be surprised to see a 3 way deal between North, GWS and Adelaide where Roos end up with pick 2 (Callaghan), GWS ends up with pick 4 (Andrews) and we end up with pick 1 (JHF). Very unlikely I know but its probably more conceivable that Roos would trade pick 1 for pick 2 and goodies rather than pick 4 and goodies if they are fans of Callaghan.
Yep holding 4 on draft night could be a trade bonanza if Callaghan and Andrew are still there ( even Hobbs )

Pretty sure Callaghan played in this game ....didn't I give you this link B4 ?

I don't think so (although I might be mixing them up). Has Goater, Daicos and Ward but couldn't see Callaghan. Did he play in any of these trial games?

Yeah Jones is totally an elite mid picked inside the top 10 (drafted as a mid)... isn't he.

Pick 4 gets elite.
Rubbish, pick 4 is no guarantee of an elite player especially in this draft 1 pick or even several picks after pick 4 have as much chance of landing a top notch player. And by the way they're elite prospects not elite players when we're talking draftees.

I don't think we'll see any DFAs. 1-2 rookie upgrades is likely, depending on whether or not we re-sign ROC (1 if we do, 2 if we don't). I think we'll pass on at least one pick in the RD, possibly two, to take advantage of the PSSP and/or MSD.
I think that with the lack of NAB league games in Victoria keeping a spot open for a MSD selection is a pretty good idea. If that league gets up and running ok there’s sure to be some un drafted talent emerge.

Yes ....once MELB's future 1st went ....so did our bargaining power ....a player was never on the table as an option, not at this stage of trade week
Disagree. The reason North baulked at that offer was because we didn't have pick 2. If they give up Horne they must be guaranteed they get Callaghan at pick 2. There's no conversation until we have pick 2. I still think north are worried about the flight risk of Horne which is very real. Pick 2, 2022 1st and a player could get it done. Gws look like they are taking Mac Andrew which they could take at pick 4. They look like they are losing Bobby hill to Collingwood or Essendon. Offer 4,33 to gws for pick 2. They use 33 on wingard or breust to replace hill while they are in a premiership window. With pick 2 we either take Callaghan or try and get Horne with an offer to North.

So no point having an early pick then because they are all equal?

Go away spud.

Let me debunk some of this.

GWS rejected Norths future first (likely top 3) & 20 for pick 2. They will not accept Pick 4 & your future second IMO.

Moving 4 to 2 would require Pick 4 & a future first.

Moving 2 to 1 would require Pick 1 & a future first.

Unless Adelaide have 2x future firsts (or want to trade someone of Thilthorpe quality), it’s impossible IMO.

I agree it won't happen..however if it was purely picks someone else suggested to get GWS pick 2, we could look to give pick 4 and then do a swap of future 1sts - IF GWS thought we were still a bottom 6 side.

We would then hold pick 2 and GWS 2022 1st and whether that would be enough for pick 1?..I doubt it unless there is something we don't know and North were actually happy to take Callaghan and grab an extra 2022 1st....again, I highly doubt anything like this has wheels

Apologies ....no Callaghan didn't play .....Goater played in the midfield too, very impressive

IMO for the Crows proposal to have any thrust ....you'd have to have both 2021/2022 1st round picks PLUS our 2022 2nd round, nothing coming back

It's too rich, but that's what would be required .....in other words it would be too dumb to offer, and too dumb not to accept

maybe if don’t get callaghan I think we will split for 7 and 15 maybe even today. Think another move today hense put deadline on deal with Sydney

cal said Rachele interviewed really well with Adelaide and we know how we love players that interview well

just a thought

who knows, but if we did pickup Rachele, then I'd expect that to reduce our interest in Rankine.

ADE: Pick 2 & '22 Pick 13, GWS: Pick 4 & '22 Pick 4.

To then get Pick 1, North would have to accept. ADE: Pick 1. North: Pick 2 & '22 Pick 13.

I don't see that getting it done.

And I would cry like a baby ....I know it's not a popular POV , but I don't want a Daniel Menzel clone ......give me Bobby Hill

Unless GWS want Andrew, in which case pick 4 is much more attractive to them then a future first. Also I'd think a guarantee of Callaghan reduces the extras needed for pick 1

slight correction - you had north giving pick 1 for pick 4 and 13. It would actually be for pick 2 and lets say pick 13 (2022). But I agree - very unlikely it still gets done. Maybe if a player was also involved?..but way too late in the day for anything like that

Yep my mistake.

Brady Rawlings did suggest in an interview that a player would likely need to be involved (given that no side has the draft hand to get it done). But as I said earlier, the quality of player that we would suggest would be one you'd be crazy to part ways with.

All this talk of trading a future 1st for JHF which I would do most years but how could we possibly try to get Rankine, Lukosius and Hollands without a 1st round pick next year when they fall out of contract.

I'm really not sure why you want JHF .....I suspect you've been fooled by all the hype and "doctored" images .....it's not too late you know to change your mind
