If he doesnt end up a half back
Buckenara's thoughts on Sinn.

9. JOSH SINN

186cm, 82kg, Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro, defender/midfielder

I think Josh will develop into a nice rebounding defender in time as he has good speed and is a good penetrating kick that will make him dangerous coming off half back. These types of players are highly sought after in the modern game as they can turn defence into attack very quickly. I am sure Josh will be highly regarded in this draft because he certainly brings some nice traits to the table for clubs to consider.

Gary has had some weird thoughts in recent years.

But I do think Sinn ends up being a HBF and could you imagine the melts if we took another defender.

Not sure if you are talking about the STYLE of Elliott, or the QUALITY of Elliot, or both.

Would you be a yes for a player of the STYLE of Elliott that could be a top 2 player in a team (not saying that's what Rachele or anyone else is)?

People seem to go for the quality of the player comparison, not the style it seems more to be intended for.

My comparison was more to do with style (as opposed to the style of Greene comparison).
A comparison of traits, strengths and weaknesses.

His top 50 looks pretty balanced this year with only a few surprises IMO.

Judging from vision and profiles it seems the knock on Ward is his athleticism so wouldn't put him in the same bracket as Callaghan and Goater in terms of the type of midfielder we need.
???? ......Ward won the 2km time trial ??

Yeah very true if we had another pick in the 8-15 range I would without doubt draft Sinn. But 4 would seem high for a gamble pick to use on him although I am a fan of his.

4 seems a gamble on anyone in this draft.

There's no clear #4, so whoever we take is a 'reach', it just means we get first pick of all the 'reach' players

I can see Sinn being versatile like Luke Hodge. Mostly wing and half back. Attitude, aggressive play.
Smith, Seedsman, Sloane out in coming years. Sholl won't make it, Milera doubtful after injury, I'm happy if they choose his type for the wing.
Midfield stocks in Scho, back in Pedlar and Berry.

Say Rachele is our man at pick 6, do we try to get a Knevitt, Long or Roberts with our second rounder? Also does this mean we move away from a Murley type and try to get a pure midfielder?

Agreed. Also why we are in such debate over all these players in contention, with varying points of strengths and differences.

Sounds like we are looking at speed and power, so probably not this style of good, but not fast, players. Knevitt (and maybe Roberts) at 35 might be a bit good to overlook though. Long possibly.

Great interview with Hamish Ogilvie on 5AA.

We'll probably take 2 or 3 selections. 4 is very unlikely.

Phil Harper has been watching the SA boys this year.

Some years there might be 10 strategies with selections and moving up or down, this year probably only 3 or 4 options.

Would love Finn Callahan if he was available, but doesn't think he will be.

Cont.

We'll draft best available with 4 and use a later pick or two to balance our list

Butts and/or Keays in line to be promoted

Have had discussions about moving both upand down from 4, but nothing can happen until the night
