I agree SPS is useless, but he's essentially likely to be a free hit.
Clark will disappoint.
He's not worth a pick under 30 let alone what Geelong is rumoured to want for him.

Would he be more disappointing than Valente, Sturt, Henry, O’Driscol.

Please don’t make a case for any of them. They’ve shown less than Clark in same period of time. Before you say NOD has only been given a year, Clark was playing for Geelong in his first year.

It’s not like we’re throwing away our hand. We’ll still hit the draft. Clark has been identified as a need. He’s 20! Not 28.

He deserves the same upside opportunity the one eyed folks on here give guys like Valente, Sturt and co.

Hell, Logue is an absolute liability but some still make out like he could be the next Rance. He’s had how many years?

So what ?

Logue is not a liability …he may not be a superstar but he can be a pretty solid contributor and tell you what if we start to get to the pointy end - Logue is someone who can plug & play in a variety of positions.

Simmer down Cobbler. Leave Griffen ‘Rance’ Logue out of this !

You can’t plug and play Logue anywhere.
That’s hilarious.
He’s a poor defender in what is his best position!

They’ve turned 27 down ….it sounds menacingly like you’re saying up it

Oh. We turned down 8. Guess it’s over. No point continuing chat.
My comments were in reply to bunch of comments about take 27 to the draft. Like that was our one pick in the draft and we’re about to blow it on a 20 year old who by posters on here is behind a stack on our list.

Dees added best 22 players, May, Lever, Langdon, Brown. Several on here didn’t even rate Langdon.
How can Clark cost more than the Langdon or Crozier deal?
You want to win a GF? Copy the Tigers, Dees.
Langdon and Crozier were out of contract.

Peps you all need calm the farm it is after all just the first day, where bugger all happens except some guy ringing a bell.

I agree that a pick value around 23-27 is more than fair Clark. I wouldn’t go any higher. Langdon went for the draft equivalent of early 20’s.

Our highest price should be pick 25 with a sweetener (max value the equivalent to pick 23-24). If they want more we walk away.

This talk of a range between 8-27 is rubbish. Clark was drafted at 15 and his value has gone down not up. But him being under contract means we have to pay top end value which is early second. If out of contract this year a value around early 30’s would be about right, maybe even third round with the threat of PSD.

Melbourne finished second bottom in 2019 so PSD was a genuine threat, with Langdon OOC an early second round pick was decent trade outcome.

Crozier was about to turn 24 in 2017 when traded for pick 40. He was OOC and we had traded Hamling the year before at a good price. We kept playing him forward when his best position was off HB.

I expect Clark will get traded likely at cost slightly higher than most are comfortable but only slightly higher.

There is a good chance that 25 only drops to 26 if Collingwood use 22 to match bid on Daicos. They should take that pick with later sweetener.

We have 8, 27 & 84 …..if it’s not 8 and it’s more than 27 ….what else are you giving up?

I am have been staunchly against trading Lobb for this reason. We will, for at least some games, see Cox or Logue or Meek as our #1 KPF next year if he goes.

Now that Cerra is confirmed going, I think we're already half committed to being worse or static next year. I can understand taking the picks if Lobb wants to leave and it's a great deal. We are worse for the next two years if we do though imo, with slightly more potential after that but no guarantee of course.
It really depends on fitness- Sturt, Cox or Logue can go forward. But gee yet again, for the 5th straight season- the team lives or die on Tabs. He’s our most valuable player considering the impact he has on the forward line. Lobb goes, suddenly we’re one injury away. It’s not good enough. Top teams have depth to cover, we have none.

Really hope we’d be after SPP. Guy did smash us with 3 goals and love to take the game on. Really think he’d be serviceable for us. I mean who else is better then him other then Serong, Fyfe and Brayshaw ? Mundy can’t always take it on. Better then Tucker that’s for sure.

This sounds dangerously similar to the situation at GWS and McCarthy.
They wanted 2 first rounders for him😳
In the end didn’t we the next year swap first rounders so they could get Taranto and us Logue?
You would think after Kersten, Matera, McCarthy and Hogan we would be wary of talented but flakey type players.
Freo. like the Saints are alway looking afar, and never what’s in their own backyard, doing the groundwork.

Colyer, Acres, Lobb.

We love over paying for shit players.

Colyer and Acres were cheap as.
I have the strong opinion that you don't bring anyone in who won't help you win a flag.

When you are down the bottom, you draft 6, 7,8 players if needed, and hope you can find some A graders amongst them.

I would rather looking a players like mature age players from 2nd tier comps, than target 27 or 28 year old players who will never be an A Grader.

We need to stop bringing in players who are not in a top 4 teams, best 22.
