Why Rachelle when Schulz, Switta, Western are on the list and Crowden has been re rookied
What happened to needing a big mid to replace Cerra and tall forwards that we are desperate for.
Why draft another small ?The logic escapes me.

Western is an unknown. The other players are all battlers and none are very good at being a small forward. I don't have any in my best 22, and I personally would have delisted a few of them for list balance (reduce the number of short people). Rachele projects to be a way better player than all of them. We only have one good small forward on our list (Walters), and he is almost done.

Our list needs a small forward, medium forward, tall forwards and tall midfielders. Drafting any of these types of players makes sense, and perhaps the best option is to get one of each (with a tall mid that can double as a medium forward). For example, Rachele + Amiss/Andrew and then there should be a few taller mids available at our 3rd pick.

yes, a lot of footy false prophets in here taking a punt....and not putting in the time to nut things out. But that's okay if the club doesn't do the same ;)

Motlop Is the one that gets me...I like what I see and maybe a lot of upside but can't see his being in the first thirty without a big gamble. Think we will pick Benning ...suspect he is already planned re the picks.

I'm wondering what Motlop offers that Sam Butler doesn't. Butler is very quick, can win the ball as a mid, plays as a small forward too.

The other option we could do is take Erasmus/Johnson first, JVR second, take Butler with 19, hope Motlop slides to 40

Is this man who spent the whole year bagging all of those players as not good enough?

Shultz is our only small fwd who's crafty and dangerous around goals.

Switta/Colyer have speed and are good kicks for goa, but play futher up the ground. Freddy is exciting, but inaccurate and raw. Walters has lost it a bit and looks for frees. Crowden isn't AFL standard and possibly the worst player on our list after our recent delistings. Western is too early to call..

Sturt can play small and tall. Imo he could be the most important player for our finals chances if he gets his body right. Saw him kick 4 for Peel this year in one game..without even breaking a sweat. Goals come easy for him.

If we do the swap for pick 4.. we sure Finn will be there?
You can make that deal right after pick #3 if it's the key component.

#3 live pick I mean, assuming Daicos and Darcy add an extra 10 minutes between pick #1 and pick #4. Then Adelaide's pick #4 is #6 but what I meant applies, have the deal ready to go and if he isn't picked at #5 - pull the trigger.

Then we get the player we think was #1/#2 and a later first choice.

If it came with 33 too?

Then 4 and 8 for 2 AND 13?
2, 13, 33.
Not sure we get the same bang for buck TBH

Depends how much we want Callaghan
I was thinking the same. GWS (if they want Andrew) won’t trade for pick 6. He will go to the by then
So 6 and 19 for 4 and 33
4 and 8 for 2 and 13

edit. Hawks for walks ( fat fingers)

What’s peoples preferred combo from:

Rachele/ Erasmus
JVR/ Amiss

Or go hard at pick 2 (Finn) and hope for bewith whatever picks left.

Me? I’m in the go hard at Finn and hope to land JVR.

If I had to pick a combo I’d go Rachelle and JVR.

Great question.

Rachele or Eramus maybe gone by pick 6 (8).

Andrew might be available as well and Richmond may go early on Amiss.

My number one option would be get Callaghan.

:shoutyoldman: funny how with few exceptions, humans return to the default position. For this board it is wanting to put most of the eggs in the basket of a Melb mid that has played to date predominantly wing and through half back, even when we have one of the worst scoring forward lines in the comp and having just lost our last Melb mid just when we were starting to need him after 4 years of development. I suppose at least we're consistent or at least predictable. :shoutyoldman:
