I wonder if they’d be open to 2 for 6 but we give something else.
That’s only if we need 8 for Amiss.
If we are all in on Finn and happy to take best available at 13 then all good.
Hate for us to be ‘cute’ take Finn, miss Amiss and JVR and have to take a mid or small at 13.

Maybe a swap of future firsts and seconds as the something else? I think it’s certainly doable,

Coniglio, yuck. Why would we waste cap-space and picks on him? Even wasting a list spot is too much. He doesn't fit our list demographic at all.
we are kinda vacant for mids in his age group though. if a favourable deal could be done (gws pay decent hit of salary and we give up very little), i'd be open to it on those terms
How the hell are the Cats supposed to trade up the order to 2? Does anyone read his stuff before it gets published?

The only clubs in a position to trade for 2 would Richmond and us. Realistically just us I'd have thought unless they want future firsts or swags of second rounders.

magic i suspect. headline looks a lot less interesting for the herald sun if we're mentioned instead of the cats, classic ralph.
The other horrible idea that crossed my mind:

2, Coniglio <> 6, 8

6 & 8 for 2 & 13? Pick up Callaghan & Sinn (best mates supposedly). Trade future 1st to pick up JVR in the teens. Might still have a 2nd for Williams.

If Freo are intent on going after Callaghan, then picking Sinn as well wouldn’t be the worst strategy in terms of retention. Would be an extremely bold move though after losing Cerra.

Personally would rather keep 6 & 8 and draft local. Maybe downgrade 8 for a couple in the teens.

I haven't listened for an hour or so...does anyone know if they answered my text?

Few spelling errors in my rage.

Yes. Cerra's choosing Carlton because they are best placed to offer a deal that will satisfy Freo. Carlton aren't his first choice by any stretch and if he was willing to screw Freo he'd go to either Melbourne or Richmond.

Richmond would've actually been the best club for him to pick if he didn't want to screw Freo. Let's see:
1. Known interest in young top end mids.
2. Multiple first and second rounders.

Only issue was salary cap imo.

How did Carrol go in the VFL this year?

No ideal other than those VFL highlights on the Cartlon website. Just added his name as part of the mix in the trade dea for Cerra because its been suggested as a possibility earlier in the thread.

I managed to find Carroll after a good 30mins of googling VFL stats.. hes like a ghost to find anything on.

Anyway played 6 games, best game was 25 disposals and 8 tackles, next best was 23, 8 marks, 3 tackles..... then it drops off to 11,9, 6, 6 possessions with no other stats.

don’t need sinn we have enough half back flankers
Amiss & NWM for me then try to get inside mid later on like Browne

Two players with high upside, but also amongst the least ready to play. I'd be happy to have them, but Erasmus, Rachele, JVR and Johnson could play round 1.

I wonder if that would be a consideration?

I think we'll go best avaialable out of erasmus and johnson then one of amiss, jvr, williams with our first two picks.
Simple.

Had that thought about the Tigers salary cap issues, but included more for the fact they would be a preference for him over Carlton otherwise. Anyways, if Carltoon were to start with the draft/PSD shenanigans, Bell could just as easily start some talks up with the Dees to see what they might be able to rustle up if he hasn't already. That card would quash any bluffs by Carltoon pretty quickly.

GWS recruitment team - ‘This Coniglio drama… he’s costing us an arm and a leg. He’s lacking leadership. For crying out loud people are saying Greene to captain. We need Freo to ask the question’

Freo recruitment team - ‘Just checking the 26 potentials on our list… oh someone mentioned Conglio. I’m assuming that was a joke right? Look… I’ll add him to the list and we can keep an eye from afar’

GWS - ‘We need to get proactive on this. Someone get some comments out there some more. Create a headline… but remember we ain’t giving him up easy’

Freo - ‘I see GWS mentioned Cogs again. Clowns. But bad news guys. Sandilands management have confirmed he definitely won’t consider a comeback… so the list is down to 25… well 26 if we keep Cogs on it.’

GWS - waiting by the phone.

Freo - ‘How’d Dardy look boys? Righto… keep him at potential 25. Cogs still firmly at 26.’

If Richmond had any brains they would let us trade up for Callahan and be whispering sweet nothings in his ear while we put a couple of years of development into him for them

Adding JVR and Amiss to Treacy and Sturt as part of our taller leading forwards could be very good. How does a team deal with defending 4 fast leading forwards?

Watching Treacy and Sturt together in the wafl kick 12 goals was probably an underrated highlight of the year. Imagine doubling that.

While there's no 200cm+ ubertall prototype, there's 4 players who could/can be damaging aerially and at ground level while not losing much defensively.

If only 3 make it as AFL quality, that's still 10-13 years of sorted tall forwards. Yes there is chemistry to build, West coasts forward line coordination and leading prowess didn't happen overnight.

But over 4-5 years there's great scope.
