Think you guys might be safe from a pick 1 bid after tonight…
Yes, I watched that game. It was pretty much Glenelg vs. Horne-Francis! He's a very good young player. Daicos could be just as good, but North may as well save any bother and pick the player they are going to end up with (at no. 1).

Looks like Briskey kicked 3 goals in the QLD U19 game v Tassie yesterday. So they are playing him down forward and not defence. Looks like he has put on some size since the summer, as you would have expected he should have this year. Forward/Ruck looks like. Looks much more comfortable, a real attack on the ball.

Was he close to 200cms?

But imagine all the media articles talking about our pick deal if he doesn't get bid on at pick 1, or even pick 2...

I think guys like Sos and Rendall should actually add some balance to that kind of commentary in the trade period.

When Cleary tried to raise it during the trade radio opening SOS shot it completely down.

Cleary and Lloyd looked like someone had run over their beloved dog. He straight up ruined their sensationalism in an instant.

Yep - in what world would a club in our position risk going to draft night holding pick 2?
A bid on Daicos and it all goes up in smoke.

Play like that might mean he gone before our 1st Live Pick

Just finished watching the 2010 GF replay.

I’d love a Wellingham in the rookie draft this year. I think I’d forgotten how good we was for us.

Yep. Played the perfect role in our team during that period. Unfortunately his legacy in the wider footy circle is probably hurt by the fact he didn’t live up to his trade value at the Eagles.

We did have a knack of finding gems in the rookie draft during that period.

Hopefully Ginny, Begg and Johnson, show we have got that gift back.

Wellers was brilliant but erratic, sometimes nails a 40 meter pass to a target leading back without them having to break stride.

Other times sends a 20 meter pass sailing way over the top of his target.

Yeah I think his best skill was his ability to occasionally slice through the contest.

When he got it timed right it was pretty magical.

GWS might not even bid at all, and could drop to suns pick, which he would not get past.

I think there is potentially enough dislike for the Doggies at Giants Stadium to put in a bid on Darcy at pick 2 to "price enforce", even if they didn't need a KPD or KPF or two coming through the pipeline (which they do).

Are there any key forwards likely to still be around pick 25-35ish that are worth a look at if we can trade back into the draft?

Knightmare Pie 4 Life

If Van Rooyen gets to pick 30 then I'd be hoping we'd jump on him post haste. Even at pick 25 I'd be looking at making a move to get him.

Edit: That might be taken out of our hands this afternoon though if he has a big one again in the curtain raiser.

The Giants have already said that since Darcy represents a ‘need’ more than Daicos they would likely bid on him before Daicos. (Personally I think there must be some handshake agreement in the mix too)

I’m more confident we won’t have to match a bid until at least Pick 3. Which would be an incredible outcome in the circumstances.

1 — 3000 — 2400

2 — 2517 — 2014

3 — 2234 — 1787

That is a massive difference in point value we need to find.

Yeah he’s the one for me too. Particularly given his capacity to play at either end.

Although I think he’s probably likely to go somewhere between 10-20.

The other bonus is that our points value will improve by approx 20 points each if pick 17 is gobbled up. If the dogs trade it for two picks in inside 36, our points will improve even further.

Williams could be the best of the lot, I'd be jumping on him if he's still around at our pick

You might be right, although I was thinking Van Rooyen more down back though and would be happier spending a second round pick to fill that particular hole, assuming that grabbing a decent KPP might require our first round pick next year one way or another.

As an aside I saw Amiss getting his legs cut out from under him on a lead today and it didn't look great for him with how he went down.
