Anyone else seeing the irony - Weightman misses out on a prelim because he didn't duck.......

Seriously though, as much as I dislike the way he plays it's a sad way to miss out on a final.
It's why the pre GF bye needs to stay imo.

I dont hate Weightman the way others do. I would love him in our side. Hes a cheeky little bugger, but he can play and hes deadly inside 50. This is a big plus for us.

Bont is the best player in the competition. I suspect he will play regardless, maybe under duress, but he is a champion and will no doubt have an influence.

We just back our plan in and we should definitely be able to win this.

I'm guessing that when Caleb Daniel has the ball the umpires are counting 30 steps instead of 15 in order to work out how far he has run.

Caleb Daniel's dad does some work for the place I work at. He's a hard little bastard who, I'm told, was a genuine wild man at Edwardstown Football Club in his day. He always wears his Bulldogs cap to work so I can't quite tell if he has long grey hair, a long grey mullet, or a Riff Raff do.
But knowing what a rugged dude his dad is actually makes me respect Caleb a bit more. He ain't no silver spooner.

I don’t mind him either. And the free kicks he got against Essendon weren’t a result of ducking.

the difference between him and another sucker like Rhys mathison, is that weightman can actually play

you Know for most silver spoon children, there’s a parent or grand parent who worked their guts out.

I'm guessing Bont will play a lot more FWD and they'll push Dunkley and Treloar into more midfield time. As big a loss as Bont would be they are actually pretty well suited to cover him.

I actually think the loss of Weightman will hurt them more as he has provided the most x-factor in their forward line while Naughton has been well down in the latter stages of the season.

Spot on. I come in peace.

Of course I hope my Dogs win but just hoping regardless result no injuries.

Couple of thoughts about the game

1. Last time we met you guys really smashed us in all key areas but some poor kicking helped us. I guess it is important from our point of view to see what we did learn from that game and how well can we rectify things.

2. I cannot work out how much we have left in the tank. Travelling eventually will catch up with us especially going to Perth then to Adelaide.

3. Just think you have too many options up forward that have a real goal sense as the one we have will miss (Weightman)

4. Ruck is of a concern as Lycett and Co can take us to the cleaners.

5. Our midfield goes okay and goes deep but your midfield is not far behind but think we can change things up with personnel should it not be working.

All the best

We had fewer free kicks than our opponents in 3 of those 5 games lol.

But thanks for dropping by and sharing that zinger.

Dogs fans are so used to winning the free kick count by 10+ against every single team that having a team where a couple of games have had fair umpiring is noticeable to them.

The whole Bont thing is really interesting.

I'm personally assuming it's all just a bit of gamesmanship on the Dogs behalf.

The guy came off late and he never put ice on the injury.

If you are a professional AFL player with a slight knee niggle you're putting ice on it immediately.

The only options are:
- That he wasn't actually hurt at all and hence no ice or strapping was required.
- Or that it is real serious, they realise he's gone for weeks and didn't really care.

I'm banking on #1 and expecting him to play and to be at the top of his game.

Yeah he's annoyed me lately but he is a serious talent.

I have a Melbourne supporting mate and I called the Dees crazy for picking Kosi over him if they wanted a small forward. So him coming good and Kosi fading would be a decent ITYS... that said they are both pretty likely to be stars.

The fact he was off when the game was well and truly on the line tells me it was genuine.

You don't leave a player like him off in a game that close.

C'mon dude... You're not leaving your best player on the bench, when the game is in the balance, if there isn't some damage...

Weightman shouldn't have even been a thing.

They clearly got the 'Don't even think about it' from the AFL.
If it was Dr Gary Zimmerman who made the assessment, Weightman was never going to play. He's the doc with the big bushy beard and afro hairdo and has been a club doctor for around 30 years and is one of the main stays of the AFL Doctors Association.

Or they wanted to keep it warm incase it settled and they wanted to put him back on if the game went to extra time.

Could have been genuine, but they could also know by now that he's actually gonna be fine and it was just a knock. If they do know that they would be saying the same things I'd say.
