Very similar to Battle, played all over the place including wing, hb & hf.

Given his extra height and athleticism I'd prefer Brander.
I'd prefer Battle

Brander is a cat IMO.

There are definitely similarities though and no doubt the fact a club could get Brander as a DFA or a late pick would have some clubs interested.

Always on my anniversary. Wife loves it.

Hopefully out of lockdown by then so you can take her out for a nice anniversary lunch at a wine farm or something, leaving your evening free 😀

If you need some inspiration (and we’re allowed that far) the Point Leo sculpture garden is great. Haven’t eaten at the restaurant there but believe it’s really good too.

St Kilda is open to trading hard-nut utility Ben Long as the club looks to bolster its hand at this year’s draft.
Long’s management has reached out to clubs about a potential fresh start, but without any takers the 24-year-old remains happy to stay at Moorabbin for next season.

Midfielder Seb Ross, 28, is also an unrestricted free agent and remains out of contract despite receiving an offer from the Saints.

The two-time best and fairest winner and St Kilda vice-captain finished seventh in the best and fairest again this year after another consistent season.

But the chances of securing a big payday are limited due to the tight salary caps across the competition.

Club sources on Sunday said this trade period looms as a fizzer with limited scope and cap room to land a big fish recruit.

Essendon was contacted about Long but the Bombers are yet to show any interest as Ben Rutten’s men look to the draft after successfully landing exciting trio Nik Cox, Archie Perkins and Zach Reid last year.

The Saints have picks No. 9, No. 49 and No. 67 in this year’s draft and want to be in a strong position to target some top-line young talent, according to chief executive Matt Finnis.

That includes next generation academy products Mitchito Owens, a wingman from Sandringham, and former gun basketballer turned powerful midfielder Marcus Windhager.

A deal for Long or a free agency compensation pick for Ross would bolster the Saints’ position to nab the NGA products depending on where rival bids come.

Finnis said it was time for the Saints to “regenerate” at the draft after missing the eight this year.

The club is also trying to prepare an offer to land Gold Coast star forward Ben King in next year’s trade period.

“I’m looking forward to the draft this year,” Finnis said.

“There is an opportunity for the club to really regenerate and some bring in some talented youth and hopefully even take advantage of the next generation academy really for the first time.

“There might be a couple of players there which will be terrific.”

I think I’d rather pick kids this year then pick a token delisted free agent like other years . Lots of kids in this years draft that probably haven’t had the exposure as other years. Bring in a back up ruckman is probably the other thing id do … let Pauly Hunter go

Absolutely agree with picking some kids in the draft… but what with? We currently have only 3 picks to fill 6 list spaces, Dunstan leaving would make 7*

(*Obviously there’s rookie spots free too)

We’ve clearly got something brewing cos at present, if just one of the Academy boys are bid on between picks 21-30, not even our picks 49 & 67 will be enough for him.

Fans & supporters need to get their heads around the fact that to get what we want out of the draft, there is the very real possibility that we say bye bye to some guys with currency.

And we will most certainly also add some others through DFA pathway, Rookie draft/supp list etc

Since when did we plan to cull Webster? Amazing how just like the stature of our players is elevated when we lose them, we tend to forget how good they were when they’re injured.

If we do go after BING next year then Webster will come into discussion to offload due to the salary cap but won't be this year. I was thinking about this yesterday when looking over who is out of contract next year. Hanners, Long, Battle and Webster are the main ones who would be on decent coin. No surprise to see them all gone by the start of 2023.

Who do you think we are working with Rors? Who has got plenty of mid field frdp's? Hmmmmm
