Wading through these 72 pages, I don't think I've missed it. Didn't Gold Coast say they have too many draft picks already this year? Meaning our 2023 first pick can go to them for Rankine, plus any other pick swaps to get the deal done. Which also means we get to use pick 5 (or 6), or split it for two later firsts.
The possibilities.......

I’m not sure they have been told their list size yet?
Currently at 48 including rookies, the increased numbers were part of their concessions.
So yes, if they are forced to reduce the list in line with other teams, it is likely they will have too many draft picks (7, 25, 32, 33, 43, 51, 68, 69)

Wonder if Stkilda are thinking of Cadman if they believe they can get Ben King in 2 years?

Cam McKenzie is who I'm liking at our pick if we hold onto a pick in the 5-8 range

I better go and watch a highlight video of the kid because every time I hear the word Phillipou, I keep picturing the tennis player Philippoussis and I don't want to be reminded that tennis exists.

Jordan is a big Crows supporter so he is probably on here somewhere.

Yeah if we’re able to keep that pick for Rankine (I doubt it), he’s my 2nd choice after Phillipou

Cadman I think goes earlier. I can see Saints going for Jefferson though

The other issue they apparently have is they have a couple of academy kids that could go top 10 and maybe top 5 next year.

So our 2023 1st might be useless to them as they will only have to try and offload it or it will be wasted on matching a bid.

Unless of course we win the spoon!… but that’s a big risk to be taking.. we could end up finishing anywhere between 8-18..

Lol - that sounds about right! I think Phillipou is around about the bottom half of the top ten.

No wonder the media feel sorry for them. Only two potential top ten “freebies” next year. You can better understand Cochrane’s outrage!

What type of player is McKenzie
Exactly what we need though not particularly tall(187?). Can get his own ball but it's on the outside he's very impressive - fast, good acceleration &(most importantly) great kicking skills. Unfortunately if we don't retain Pick 5, or end up with at least a top 10 pick, we won't get him.

What does he offer that Matteas Phillipou doesn't from an Adelaide view?
Phillipou is the youngest player by a fair margin over the top end prospects, the biggest already of the top end midfield prospects, a goalkicking midfielder, versatile in that he has genuine forward talent, excellent overhead, moves well in traffic, penetrating kick. NO GO HOME FACTOR.

Point taken. Let's hope Crows retain Pick 5 to ensure they get to choose!!!

Listen to the Mattaes' Phillipou's interview I posted, only problem is he's a Powa supporter ;) though he hastens to add he doesn't hate the Crows.

A little bit off-topic, but I found the blues board to be one of the most highly censored / insular boards I've come across on the internet.

I responded to a few threads back in the day (height of the Round 1 pick swaps), where a poster had a bit of rant about how we (AFC board) were cheering on one of their players getting a long-term injury (I think it was Docs first ACL?) / rabble of a club. I responded stating that despite how heated things were getting between clubs, we wouldn't wish LTI to any of our opponents, and those few on our board who expressed those opinions were downvoted/put in their place with extreme prejudice.

I came back an hour or so later to find that the moderator deleted the ranter's post, and edited my post to make it look like I wasn't responding to the initial poster at all. I get that BF moderators have an extremely tough gig, and that you want it to reflect the best of the community, but I have never experienced that level of infringement/board manipulation in any of the internet forums I've ever participated in.

Probably threw that in there as no doubt we have had plenty of discussions with him so far, so he knows we are well into him.
