I don't know where this moving up penalty has come from, I've never heard of that before. I don't really care about points personally I only looked at it to see what it looked like as I thought even just looking at the picks it looked fair and on points it shows as much.

Really it just comes down to who we'd like to pick at those positions/who GWS is after at our positions to see whether it's actually worthwhile. The points just show in terms of raw value it's a fair trade for both teams, now it depends how badly we/they want the player/s in that range.

Look at historic trades.
eg last year moving from 14 to 12 cost F2.

Penalty is the wrong word, premium would be more accurate.

Naturally the side giving up the most valuable asset should expect a return in their favor.

I remain unconvinced. 10 & 29 for 15 and 19 seems fair enough.

If this premium is a real thing then perhaps something more like 15, 19 & something in the late 30s/early 40s (if they have a pick there) is reasonable?

So you think a Club will trade 4 for 10 just because?

Players do make the difference, but it's always a premium to move up.
No but it’s would be a hell of a lot cheaper then it would be in other seasons.
It’s probably cheaper to move from 10 to 4 then it would be from 4 to 3 this year.
The number of the pick doesn’t mean a lot

Most deals are based on the variations in how clubs rate players

Let's say Sydney rate players in the 10 to 17 mark the same, they then wouldn't trade 14 & 17, for 10 and 29

If GWS had those picks, they might have the view that players at pick 10 are much better than 14 and 17, with pick 29 being of similar rated players as 17. So they are more open to doing that deal

The first pick in round 2 is starting to gain a lot more value, or picks high in the draft. Many clubs get to sit down and think about sliders and often a club is very interested to gain a player that may have drifted down the ranks. Having a night to work out deals is a lot better than 5 minutes.

Situation is currently too volatile to make a good guess at.

It depends who is available at 10 and who offers us what.

If a team has their heart set on Busslinger and wants to give up a 2nd rounder for a 3-4 pick upgrade. I ain't saying no

I still reckons if Busslinger is still on the board at our pick #10, WCE will come busting our door down to get in before the Dogs at #11, who you think would be almost certainties to select him given their KPD deficiencies. Now, THAT could be a deal that we could potentially cash in on.

Would do 10 + 29 for 12 + 20.

Should we be drafting a young winger this season if we rate both Camporeale boys and they are FS next year?
Not next year. 2024. One plays wing, the other half-back. But that may well change by the time they (hopefully) arrive for season 2025.
