The salary dump certainly adds an element of intrigue to future trading, although I would prefer to take on expensive discards at a discounted rate rather than take on the full salary for an attractive pick or two. Treloar is the perfect example, why pay $900K for five years when I can get Collingwood to foot $300k per annum for the life of his contract?

Not against signing Bowes under these circumstances, but I do not want him if he is supposedly on $800K and we're paying the full amount. It would upset the apple cart quite a bit and a few of our players would inevitably leave because of it. Also, if Bowes worked out for us, how would we negotiate a contract extension if his salary is already overinflated?

Brodie Grundy is probably going to Melbourne, but hypothetically speaking, I'd be happy for the Swans to take on a contract like his if Collingwood were paying 15-25% of his remaining 5 years.
Yep, I'd be on board with Grundy coming.

Him going to the Dees should be announced this week as they're both out now...unless we've done another swifty;)

I mean, our swifties are pretty damn good. I'm happy to wait for the right kind of player to make that kind of move again but Grundy's probably only a signature away from being a Demon anyway.

Before the Swans go after another big fish (the KPP variety) we should probably wait to see how McDonald, Amartey, McLean and Ladhams develop over the next 12 months. If the club feels that Logan needs some help and the others aren't quite capable of supporting/anchoring the forward line over the next 5+ years then we should test the market.

Careful Ticky it might be time to get the list out for my ultimate draft

Suns supposedly happy to offer pick 6 as part of Bowes. If Lloyd wants out Bowes and pick 6 does sound attractive. Would put us in prime position for Jed Busslinger and we'd have good depth for the rebounding role Lloyd fills

Bowes was who we originally bid on before picking up Florent. Description matches how we play
Lloyd is 29 yo. Not worth pick 6.

Suns would be asking for Warner or T McCartin in exchange for Bowes and pick 6

Who is Bowes? Who wants $800,000 hit to their cap? Pick 6 and the previous baggage is a clean offload.

This is how I read it too. Nothing goes back to Suns other than salary relief. Basically pick 7 (don't know where 6 originated) + Bowes for 1.6mill salary relief. I can't see the Swans going anywhere near this. Geelong or Carlton could probably squeeze him into their sombreros.

Hasn't Grundy come out and said he wants to stay in Melbourne?
Hasn't nominated a team actually, and in truth, hasn't even come out and asked to be traded. Everyone's just assumed its the Dees because they've made it clear hes in their sights and he had lunch with Gawn.

After the U18GF today Herald Sun has called out some players that might be good for respective teams. Those named for Swans in our bracket are as follows:

  • Oliver Hollands: Midfielder The smooth-mover, who has been thrown all over the ground this year, was stationed in a full-time midfield role and led the way in the engine-room for Country, finishing with 23 disposals, seven marks, six inside 50s and six tackles. Was quiet in the final term but was everywhere early, racking up 11 first-quarter disposals and using the ball well on both sides of his body.
  • Henry Hustwaite: Midfield/Defender: Worked his way into the contest with a high quality second term after a slow start. Always seems to have time when he has the ball in traffic and regularly found an option by hand, but his kicking was off at times. But we can cut him some slack, given the tall midfielder returned from an ankle injury for the NAB League grand final last week and had just a six-day break for this clash

I'm keen on Hustwaite from reports.

PMBangers has released his Top 50 list for Sept. Some nice ones available around our current picks

Jake Stein anyone? Just de-listed by GWS. 195cm key defender. Has had a few good games, ex decathlete. Would come cheap I'd imagine.

200 games for #44 Jake Lloyd tomorrow. I feel he's a bit of an unsung hero for us. He's just quietly going about his job, marshalling the troops down back, defending grimly when required and providing that link to rebound from our back half.

Please re-sign him. Deserves to be a one club man and I think epitomizes the blood culture of hanging tough and getting the job done.
