PLUS Your club board comp is now up!
What i didn't factor in is how a year out of footy will help his body recover in other ways. Not getting banged up each week and being able to rest might actually be a blesding for him and i could be wrong and his career might very well extend if he can perform at a good level rejuvinated. Time will tellWill enjoy your reaction to Sloane playing in the midfield next year and signing a contract for 2024.

Regardless of what he says, we've been in this position too many times of late where an older player cannot realise that their time is up, even if they are disgracing themselves on the field (or can't get on the field). It ends up in tears, and not the celebrating a great career kind.I wouldn't read too much into any of it.
People get carried away with the media trained, standard stuff that players and coaches say.
I mean, I'm sure Sloane is working hard towards coming back, but nothing that's said in an official club media interview should be taken that seriously. It's just content for the Facebook crowd
Do 30+ year old veterans / club captains even have mentors? I suspect they're probably the ones doing the mentoring.I listened and was shocked with what I heard. If Rory has a mentor at the club, it's time for a chat imo.

How many contracts has he signed? Bit difficult to make that call.Does anyone else get the feeling Rankine plays a bit better in contract season?
Absolute talent just not sure he is totally committed or switched on for all the right reasons.
Would take in a heart beat but would be wary about paying overs
I look at draft year then 1st year injured then 2nd year contract year, 3rd year disappointing and now contract year seems to have stepped up a gear. How many contracts has he signed? Bit difficult to make that call.
Long bow.I look at draft year then 1st year injured then 2nd year contract year, 3rd year disappointing and now contract year seems to have stepped up a gear.
Narkle would cost less...Not much chat about Parfitt….he’s one I think we should be having a close look at and he wouldn’t cost as much in a trade.
Not sure if you are being serious or not, but I do remember him having a great game against us a couple of years ago. He would definitely be cheap.Narkle would cost less...
Very serious, and I don't know about that cheap, problem would more likely be he'd prefer to head back to WA.Not sure if you are being serious or not, but I do remember him having a great game against us a couple of years ago. He would definitely be cheap.
I agree with this but it causes so much frustration.Has what we lack....speeeeed.
"Man Conversation " needed there.I know that Sloane is an all-time favourite (he's definitely one of mine) amongst fans and I'm sure among players, but we really need to have a conversation with him about next year.
I'm sure he wants to play on. I'm sure he is desperate to do it. I'm sure he thinks he can return to his best.
BUT, Sloane playing in 2023 and playing midfield will be disastrous for us. It will set back the midfield development.
We need to get on the front foot. Tell him we value his experience but want him to develop his coaching future. Tell him we can't guarantee he plays AFL.
If he refuses, fine. He starts in the SANFL, works to demand selection and then is used as a replacement.
It's harsh, but the conversation need to be had.
100%. It's times like that where Nicks will earn his stripes as a coach.
Hamill has wheels. Jones isn't slow.I agree with this but it causes so much frustration.
We have drafted sub 6fts galore and yet you say we lack speed which again I agree with.
Isn't this the ultimate indictment on our list management and drafting. Lots of smaller type midfielders and forwards and yet none with serious wheels.
Pyke was concerned about speed yet we had a few guys with wheels then.
Here we are 6 years and 24 draft picks latter still with a lack of speed.
16 of our list sub 183cm and yet few that one would consider quick never mind electric. Mindboggling
Can you imagine how upset the coloured hearts brigade will be if "our Rory" has to play SANFL? Theo will hammer Nicks with 20 questions on it every press conference and Rowe will be carrying on like Vader when his cruise was cancelled.100%. It's times like that where Nicks will earn his stripes as a coach.
And neither are high possession getters so it's very limited.Hamill has wheels. Jones isn't slow.
The problem is that neither are midfielders.
If you look at the Combine results over the years there's not a whole lot of top end footballers that have top end speed..Of course you can draft players with speed but can they football.I agree with this but it causes so much frustration.

We already moved him to HF and he looked a lot better before he did his ACL so very doubtful we will put him back into the midfield especially after recovering from an ACL and moving Crouch to the "bin".I know that Sloane is an all-time favourite (he's definitely one of mine) amongst fans and I'm sure among players, but we really need to have a conversation with him about next year.

Neither is Berry 3.02 is quick, anything inside 3.00 is real quick for AFL footballers.Hamill has wheels. Jones isn't slow.
The problem is that neither are midfielders.
I watch him closely. Not much chat about Parfitt….he’s one I think we should be having a close look at and he wouldn’t cost as much in a trade.
