Yes lets get this straight, 27 years is not old and we are short of middle aged experience. Cook I am sure we could fit in the team, is wing his best position? Sholl? The same Sholl that we won't give a game too? Nankervis is a wing is he? You've been talking him up as Hamish's big bodied mid. But at 19 when do you think he would get a game? How many in the next 3 years on the wing? Newchurch who we wont give a game too?

Amon is one of the best wingers in the comp, the names you have thrown up to not try and bring in one of the best wingers in the comp are all speculation and no certainty to be as good a winger as Amon.
Amon is out of favour at Port ....because, like Taranto & Dunkley, he has "dodgy" disposal

We have the “competitive” players .....posters criticise Keays for poor disposal, and you want another one ?

Isn't the task from here, to add some class & elite disposal .....which makes the push for Rankine, the correct call

If I was list manager the following players would be on my trade list straight away no discussion required if we are talking Rankine and eventually Horne; [obviously none of these players would demand a straightish swap but would be add ons] or any other quality player.

Murphy Himmelberg Frampton
Jones McHenry Davis
ROB Crouch Rowe
Brown Keays MCasey
Sholl Mcpherson

As stated we wouldn't get a huge return but losing any of them [apart from Rob perhaps] would not lessen our team - we need to churn over the list and bring in quality.
Do you know what's really sad and disturbing?

You've named a third of our our list and hardly any of them are worth anything on the trade table. Most are just delisters.

I would think if you did this exercise for a number of clubs, there would a group of players in the same boat - North must have a fair list, WCE right now too and there would be others

He's got dodgy disposal?

it was round 7 against north in tassie when the tagging began

absolute coaching masterclass to just watch him be negated by fit c graders. Just keep standing fully stationary in the same spot making the tagger's job as easy as possible. Never did we change anything at all to try and make that job harder. This was a guy that earned his stripes as a gut running wing type. Put him out there again or have him arriving at the stoppage from 15m away and on the move.

It's definitely the bottom tier of our list but I don't think Jones, ROB, Crouch, Brown, Keays, McHenry or Sholl have no value. All of those players would have a home at another AFL club, though Brown to be fair is getting on a bit so might be touch and go.

Himmelberg, Frampton, Davis, Rowe, McAsey, Murphy (at least as a small forward) and McPherson are all fringe/delist material and would have very little value at this point I would think.

One thing Amon can do is kick a footy

We had no roo stationed at CHF to have sloane run the tag past like in the old days..the said tag then ends up ironed out on the ground and our mid was on their merry way tag free for a while

I hate to say this as Keays has just become my daughter's favourite player. However, because we haven't yet sewn the number 2 on the back of the Guernsey, could we have a swap of players going home, in order for us to retain a top pick and bring in potential high end talent? I also get the feeling Gold Coast would jump at the opportunity to bring in players that will help them now instead of draft picks. They need to play finals in 2023.

Rankine and pick 34 for Keays?

in a heartbeat.

Let's get this straight in a rebuilding phase you would sooner a 27 year old Karl Amon than Brayden Cook (20), Lachie Sholl (22), Luke Nankervis (19) or even Tariek Newchurch (20) who has definitely played his best footy in the SANFL on the wing given opportunities in a position they are all suited in?

we don't seem to have appetite to play those guys though. We've preferred both Hately or Crouch on a wing at times. Plus we have a gap in that age range.

McAsey would be worth something purely because he’s a high draft pick and another club would roll the dice that they could unlock his potential, maybe a third rounder or something.

We also need to improve, and considering Keays is contracted and helps with a pretty big gap in our lineup, I highly doubt we'd entertain the idea.

Really, if Rankine is coming back, it's probably treated as a similar situation to Dawson. They'll want our first pick, we'll want to give them our second. There will be some sabre rattling as we piggy back on another deal to get a mid-to-late first round and eventually that'll be moved on for Rankine near the end of the period.

That would be awesome. I still think Rankine may be a cruiser and not worth the $, but like Menzel, if we burn a pick and some coin chasing high end talent, big deal.

Not generally noticeable ......but in key moments, he misses targets ....Cornes brought it up, in some video footage on "Footy Classified"

Might be sour grapes ....but the footage supported his argument

I reckon Dawson has missed targets too. Langdon does too.
Langdon is known for his gut running ......his kicks go in the general vicinity ....his kicking is not why he's one of the first picked every week ....it's his ability to get deep fwd and back to help defenders

Not every player has to have great disposal .....I'd suggest though the midfield is one zone, where it's important

I'm loving how comfortable Berry is ... kicking both left and right ....it's a real attribute to have

I think Rankine brings his team mates up, not down. He has the potential to be the best player in our team.

Rankine average 5th in AFL 2022 for goal assists.

You'd change your mind, if you've watched his last 6-8 games ......the penny has dropped, and he's been rivalling Shai Bolten ....a move to the midfield is inevitable

The selfishness has disappeared

Port supporters bring it up all the time.

800 big ones might have helped and there are guys who turn it on in contract year and are pretty average outside of it. Not saying this is the case but it wouldnt be something new.
