Not drafting Carmichael at 188cm with huge upside and being 22 yo could end up being Hamish biggest error IMO

Has shown plenty but could be a new guy after an AFL pre season too
Ash johnson from sturt is looking pretty good at AFL level now too. Collingwood have aced the mid season drafting it seems

Couldn’t get a game for our SANFL team when he was a top up for us in 2019 …. now he looks like he might be even better than older brother/half-brother Shane McAdam.

I wonder if we would have taken him before Parnell in last year’s MSD if Collingwood hadn’t picked before us?

Jeez they must have had some decent end to end marking practice as kids in Halls Creek.

Daniher got a 1st rounder a few years ago with $750K so will be touch and go with $700K.
Daniher got $830k for two years.. it was the only way Essendon was gonna let him go.. they had to get band 1 compo. Thats what they worked out was the required amount to get them Band 1 compo.

Then a year later Brisbane “restructured” his contract to stretch it over 5 years..

Essendon and brisbane rorted the system, the AFL investigated it and both should have been penalised for it.. but the AFL doesnt penalise Vic teams or the teams like GWS, Suns or lions who are in NRL territory.

Its a flipping joke of an organisation.

Been watching Ash Johnson very closely, I have no idea if his current form's mirrors his form at Sturt, but if it does, I cannot believe we didnt at least give him a go.

Looks like a good forward player for the Pies to complement their forward line.

Go check out the youtube channel it's been the normal club practice with new draftees whether taken in the National Draft, rookie draft, preseason draft or mid season draft.
Here is the Patrick Parnell video released by AFC when he was recruited in the MSD. -

Ash was always seen to be the more talented but also never had the necessary work rate growing up. Glad it’s worked out for him now though.

Think you'll find he was injured at the time. There was a story about him and McAdam floating around a while back.

Yeah compound fracture of the arm sustained in the grand final for Old Collegians which he was still recuperating from while on our top up list.

Apparently he was referencing Port need one, not that the crows were going after one.
He definitely mentioned crows. We have more of a need for an experienced KPD than port anyway regardless of what Roo said. If Butts or Murray go down our KPD depth is Borlase. Frampton is likely taking off to Collingwood and is a 3rd tall interceptor anyway. McAsey is a forward and there's rumours he may ask for a trade. Doedee and Worrell are 3rd tall interceptors, so that leaves Borlase as our depth as a KPD. That leaves me with no confidence.

The reason we are also playing Dawson as a defacto undersized KPD is also because we have no genuine KPD depth. By bringing in a quality experienced KPD that frees up Doedee and Worrell to intercept and allows us to move Dawson to the wing. By playing Dawson down back Nick's is wasting the reason we traded him in along with shortening his career through forwards jumping into his back and injuring him. Opposition coaches just sit a couple of players on Dawson as they know he is our chief offensive outlet.

Berg, at a pinch.

Let’s face it, we need a bit and it’s not all going to be solved this off season. Not enough class in the team and the class we have Nicks doesn’t know how to use anyway.

Good representation for a rebuilding side with the youngest list ;)

That side is predominantly made up of 3rd and 4th year players, while our best talent (with the exception of Fog, who just misses the cut off), are 1st and 2nd year players: Thilthorpe, Berry, Soligo, Rachele. I also think Berry has had a better season than Ginnivan, Pickett, Coleman and Quaynor, there’s just a lot of midfield talent in the age bracket above him.

Schoenberg is the one who I would’ve hoped would be at that level, but I think he bounced back nicely in the second half of the season and is still progressing well so no need to stress.

Also Rankine is more or less ours now, so we have at least one 😉
