We did draft some 3rd year players.....That side is predominantly made up of 3rd and 4th year players, while our best talent (with the exception of Fog, who just misses the cut off), are 1st and 2nd year players: Thilthorpe, Berry, Soligo, Rachele. I also think Berry has had a better season than Ginnivan, Pickett, Coleman and Quaynor, there’s just a lot of midfield talent in the age bracket above him.
Schoenberg is the one who I would’ve hoped would be at that level, but I think he bounced back nicely in the second half of the season and is still progressing well so no need to stress.
Also Rankine is more or less ours now, so we have at least one
Next year Thilthorpe, Berry, Sog, Rachele should be on that list. Too young this year.Revealed: Dockers dominate fan-voted 22under22 side as AFL Players’ Association reveals 2022 final team

Good representation for a rebuilding side with the youngest list
Jones, McHenry, Hately, Hamill, McAsey and Schoenberg have all underwhelmed. Hamill probably a write off because of concussions, while I'll leave off Worrell because we stupidly refused to pick him.We did draft some 3rd year players.....
Wouldn’t put Schoenberg in the ‘underwhelmed’ category yet. If he doesn’t kick on next year, yes, but the guy has obviously shown he can playJones, McHenry, Hately, Hamill, McAsey and Schoenberg have all underwhelmed. The Jones and McAsey picks in particular...f*** me they were bad.
We all thought RFA contracts were set in stone after the AFL ruled Buddy's contract could not be altered in any way. Then, as the AFL do, they let Daniher's RFA contract be rejigged because VFL club Essendon got the big benefit of Band 1 compo pick.Daniher got $830k for two years.. it was the only way Essendon was gonna let him go.. they had to get band 1 compo. Thats what they worked out was the required amount to get them Band 1 compo.
Then a year later Brisbane “restructured” his contract to stretch it over 5 years..
Essendon and brisbane rorted the system, the AFL investigated it and both should have been penalised for it.. but the AFL doesnt penalise Vic teams or the teams like GWS, Suns or lions who are in NRL territory.
Its a *ing joke of an organisation.
I’m not disputing that.We did draft some 3rd year players.....
Yep, people expect player development to always be linear, when it doesn’t necessarily work like that.Wouldn’t put Schoenberg in the ‘underwhelmed’ category yet. If he doesn’t kick on next year, yes, but the guy has obviously shown he can play
Those Jones/McAsey picks are gonna hurt for a long time
"Underwhelming" might not be right for Schoenberg. But he's below par at this point with negative momentum. Over this season he's slid from "Best 22" -> "Borderline and 50/50 with Crouch so it's smart to favour the young guy" -> "Forcing Ben Keays, one of the best players this year, into an ill-suited role just to fit Schoenberg in the side"Wouldn’t put Schoenberg in the ‘underwhelmed’ category yet. If he doesn’t kick on next year, yes, but the guy has obviously shown he can play

Brett Turner to be delisted according to Theo Doropoulos on 7 news
Funny how turner has said this isnt correct yet here we are ??I guess he’s done the basic football knowledge job and already imparted all his wisdom onto our mids developing in the SANFL.
He was drafted as an emergency. There was never ever an intention to extend him beyond the end of this season.
Yep, I’m nowhere near as critical of our list management as others but the Turner pick remains a head scratcher.Emergency for what? To get a game we’d have needed injury to a first 23 mid plus Crouch and Hately and then chosen to play him ahead of Taylor. And even then, to what end? Stop us from finishing 15th instead of 14th? Horrific list management decision, was obvious then.
Crouch seems a good fit for them, taking over from Cunnington...unless Cunnington is going to be fit and (importantly) healthy next year.Interesting that Clarko is looking to find some 'middle aged' players to top up their list. I wonder if MCrouch, Frampton, Burg (I know he signed) Rowe, Doedee would be interested in a game under Clarko? If that’s the case, I wonder what they might entertain coming back our way?
"We need a couple of guys amid that 27, 28-year-old bracket probably," the newly appointed Shinboners steward told Fox Footy's 'On The Couch'.
Cunnington, today, signed a new 2 year Contract at NORTHCrouch seems a good fit for them, taking over from Cunnington...unless Cunnington is going to be fit and (importantly) healthy next year.
Doedee might be a good match for them, increase their KPD stocks, but also Berg up forward wouldn't be the worst idea for them
No effing way...great way to destroy the culture we're building putting two interstate lads that have commited to the Crows for the next 3 years on the table.....Realistically, what are our chances of getting JHF and Rankine?
We should be throwing everything we have at them both.
Currency;
This year first (5)
Next year first (lets say 8)
Potential currency;
Matt Crouch (think we've destroyed his value, but as an experienced mid, still has value to a developing side).
Smith?
McAsey (not much, but something).
Frampton?
Rowe (pick around 30-40)?
Sholl (feel like we should've played him more, he's clearly leaving, but have we maximised his value)?
Rachele (has to be considered for JHF)? We viewing him as a mid? Same question re Rankine?
Soligo (as above)?
I think we've got the currency to get it done, and if we had a midfield of JHF/Rankine/Rachele (if we can swing it), we instantly become a MUCH better team.
Yep - Defeats purpose losing good players to get others that are no guarantee to be betterNo effing way...great way to destroy the culture we're building putting two interstate lads that have commited to the Crows for the next 3 years....
I heard and remember it live, he was 100% talking about Port Adelaide and what they need to do to get back into finals contention next year, referencing their current undersized setup of Aliir, Burton, Houston, and JonasHe definitely mentioned crows.
Naughton at CHF is obvious but surely the Fog should have made that side.Revealed: Dockers dominate fan-voted 22under22 side as AFL Players’ Association reveals 2022 final team

Not sure how it will happen as I know he is contracted but its unlikely Ned will be on the crows list next year
Don’t be so negative

Disagree, we've finally got young talented Victorians that want to be part of the future, sends all the wrong messages to the other young interstate lads already here and future draftees.I'd suggest the opposite - having mature and direct discussions about the possibilities would be a sign of a strong culture.
I'm not suggesting trading those guys against their will, but we need to consider our options with a clear picture.
If we'd been that way with Tippett, Dangerfield, Lever, perhaps we might've got a better result.
