What if Rachele ends up moving to the midfield?

Not saying Rankine is a high level priority, but he still could fill a hole in our side
I haven't seen anything from Rankine that I would want at the crows. Same goes for Luko. Newchurch will likely end up just as good a player as Rankine if he improves his goal kicking. He has taken some big steps this year. Rachele, McAdam and Newchurch should see us through. We need an elite KPD and some quality mids and another KPF. Throw in a young athletic ruck and we could become a top 6 side pretty quickly. Brennan Cox and Dunkley is who I would be targetting end of the year. If Tom Green is looking to get out of GWS after Cameron gets the sack I would go hard for him instead of Dunkley.

With Sloane now going onto the LTI list, do you think we’ll look at a player in the MSD?

I’d like us to look at a young developing ruckman personally, ROB is limited in his effectiveness and Strachan is ?26-27, given they can take 3-4 years to develop physically it’s a role I think we need to start to look at.

A ruck or a KPD I would look at.

There was reason Izak Rankine went at pick 3 and we were able to nab Tariek at no draft cost other than a rookie spot.

Forgot about hipwood. McStay is likely to go though isn't he?
You think Brisbane won't fight hard to keep McStay and if he wants out still he won't come cheap. He's an Eastern Ranges product so it's probably likely he heads home to Victoria?

There was a reason why Richard Tambling went at 4 too
I'm not for selling the farm for either Lukosius or Rankine but I think I've seen enough of Lukosius now to think he'll never live up to his draft hype whereas I think there's still time for Rankine to perhaps do so. Rankine has had his share of soft tissue injuries throughout his time and missed a fair chunk of footy.

Answer me this if you had to choose between Luko or Rankine at the right price who would you favour?

Neither is not an option...;)

Right now, Luko.

Rankine lacks several levels of desire or hard work

I’ve answered that question many, many times.

My answer ain’t changing now, I’d take Rankine all day long.

I still would. The price I’d pay wouldn’t be that high though. Maybe a single pick around #30 at most.

Anyone gurning about first rounds need not be taken seriously

so…

Sloane to the LTI list.. opens up a spot for a MSD pick..

seriously though.. Sloane‘s body looked cooked before he did his knee.. lost any speed he had and endless injuries have been cruel to him for a couple of years now.

sounds like he wants to make a come back but…

does anyone actually think he can make it back to the top level and be better than what he has been in recent times?. he’s 32 years old. the sensible money would be on him retiring instead and taking up a lucrative spot in the media..
He will do all he can to play.

As he should. His motivation and drive should be focused on that. Anything less and he will struggle.

Then he can retire

So you dont think a Payne for Fog trade is realistic?

It really depends on if a club wants to take a chance on Fog based on the small flashes he’s shown in previous years

I reckon all other 17 clubs would be smart enough not to give up much more than a can of Pringles for him, though

Look at Brisbane's list for starters, plenty of KPF cover but outside of Harris Andrews, a 29 year old Marcus Adams and Darcy Gardiner their only cover is Jack Payne unless I'm missing someone? Given Marcus Adams' checkered injury history it would a brave move to let Payne go.

Fair enough. Any other KPD we should go after?

Rekon North would be looking for a forward . Anyone on their list we could swap for Fog?

Jarman was a ******* midfielder not a forward.

He spent his twilight years forward as he aged.

True, although pre-crows he did have a run of games at north from full forward where they cleared out the 50 and left him one-out. Kicked bags, was fun to watch. 1990 maybe ? Remember him kicking 10 against South in one.

Nostalgia aside - he was a midfielder.

Na. 27 at the start of next year so would only have 3 good years in him before he declines. Isn't the right fit and would want too much coin. We need to trade in players where we have gaps such as a decent KPD, Mids and a better Ruck. Would rather spend money on Dunkley or go after Tom Green from GWS.
I can see him being the type who moves clubs on big money and phones it in for most of his career.
De Goey is too old, would be a waste of money

Ha ha. De Goey is 12 months older than Dawson.

All we would have to give up would be salary cap for him as he is a restricted FA. We wouldn't need to give up a draft pick or a player.

Front load the hell out of a 4 year contract (we should have plenty of cash!). Adding De Goey, Dawson and Rachele in a 12 month period fastbacks the hell out of a rebuild.

Sounds very familiar to the discussions surrounding Dustin Martin in 2013. De Goey is a freakish talent. Well worth the gamble.
