Throw in chump change for Jackson. Tucker, Sturt, etc. Not Serong. Yikes.

We’re a forward away, as per usual in the Pav era, of dominating. Lobb goes and no one replaces, it’s pointless having an elite midfield. Been through that road 2012-2015.
There’s nothing out there that’s going to suddenly give what Lobb has. Have said Weideman, but Melbourne will make us pay. Maybe try Scache, but again Bulldogs will do the same.
Peter Wright would’ve be a good get. Unfortunately whenever Freo try to get these Mature forwards, backfires.

Backing Amiss and especially Kuek to develop. Kuek can be a great prospect over the pre season.

Yes, lucky the club doesn't take advice from bigfooty

I'd also imagine the players would be mighty pissed if Freo traded out player of the character of Serong for a shiny toy.

As much as id like Jackson it's about trading smart without being panicked

Tucker trade would be with a different Melbourne club.

I watch Essendon last night and they are beyond terrible in defence. Their experienced key back has had career ending injury set backs. Hamling at times looks like he has been pushing through with a dodgy knee. Will be interested to see how he goes today after the bye. Apart from the game game against Swans he has been pretty solid even with the dodgy knee. He is only turning 30 next year and would be handy for Essendon if his knee and ankle are all ok. Tucker and Hamling combined with Geelong’s 4th round pick could be manoeuvred to net us a couple of third round picks.

The player I would be trading is Lobb. I just don’t see things working with him, Jackson and Darcy. Also Meek would want out. For me it’s Lobb or Jackson.

Lobb being realistic is worth end of first round, early 2nd round pick. If we finish top three we may need to trade that with our first to get an earlier first round pick between 10-12.

If we finish around 4th-7th then that could be a pick around 12-14 and that along with Lobb if Melbourne are interested is what I would do. We may also need to sweeten further with future picks.

Something like 14, Lobb, F2nd > Jackson, F3rd.

If something similar to that can’t get the deal done then hold onto Lobb.(might consider instead of Freo 2nd for Melb 3rd a swap of F1 Freo for F2 Melb).

Ok I’m all in ok Jackson now. Watching us smashed today by a more mobile midfield with DeKonig jumping all over Darcy…

We desperately need angus brayshaw. Hard, defensively minded mid that can run. Can’t wait two years for Erasmus and Johnson to get to the level.

if darcy does not pull his finger out this year trade him for luke jackson

Pacey mid anyone…?

Liam Baker would be such a asset.
Gee he would be epic

As good a time as any to take stock.

We've seen enough this year to gauge who's in the rebuild and who has question marks.

If we're just looking at the players who will be there in 3-4 years, a rough best 22 going forward:

FB: Walker, Pearce*, Ryan, (Logue)
HB: Clark, Cox, Young, Chapman, (Aish)
Inside/Balanced Mids: Brayshaw, Brodie, Serong. (Erasmus)
Outside Mids/Wings: Acres, Aish, O'Driscoll. (Henry)
HF/HHF: Frederick, Henry
FF: Banfield, Schultz (Amiss, Treacy) Logue
Rucks: Darcy, Meek

My wish list over the next 2 drafts would be:
-3 medium/small forwards
-1 high half
-1 tall forward (if it doesn't look like Treacy or Amiss will make it)
-1 balanced mid with good kicking skills (could this be Johnson?)
-1 wing (Worner?)
-1 ruck/forward (Roy?)

Does Baker play midfield? He never used to.

Oh absolutely! Plays everywhere that bloke. He’s been one of their best all year.
Realistically can’t see them letting him go he’s been so good.

Have thought all year we lacked some pace or explosiveness out of the middle / stoppage.

I remember in some of the Clark highlights he was starting the the centre for Geelong, could be a option. Or maybe after another preseason Henry could have some bursts through there like Sonny used to

Western and Sturt have pace. So too Switta. Whenever Schultz is being well covered up forward and or the midfield is being beaten, he should be thrown into the midfield rotations imo.

JL mentioned through the week that the flu had ripped through the team. May have been worse than first thought. Seemed to lack that extra gear and drive
Luke Ryan was on on 6PR on Thu morning and he said he had been crook all week - fever and vomiting. Not COVID. Even on Thu he sounded a bit dusty.

Brayshaw didn’t seem his usual energetic self and noticed him on and off the bench quite a bit. Mundy spent long spells on the bench. Not an excuse but I’m certain that illness played its part.
