Darcy and Jackson 50/50 forward and ruck. Both fresh as. Would be an insane duo as both are handy forward.

Sooo we all happy getting Jackson now?
I know it is the "never satisfied" but this performance does nothing to convince me that giving up 2 years of first round draft picks plus other costs is the correct call.

It is a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation for Jackson with Gawn out.

If he didn't perform; doubters can say "see he can't even star when he is the main man, yet" and when he does do well we get to say, "we need him to show what value he can bring when not lead ruck because he needs to perform with Darcy in the side" 🤣

What it does confirm (if anyone really doubted it) is that he can and will be an amazing player.

I still say the cost is too high compared to the risk at this stage 🙂

Thing is though he was average in the ruck, it was everything else he was excellent as. You can literally play him anywhere on the field, he’s unique

I dont remember the Vic media saying all this when Adam Cerra wanted to leave us.
And why would they?

We were still battling to get through the rebuild so no claims to great success.

And they are the Vic media, their audience is predominantly Victorians who unsurprisingly support Melbourne teams.
Balanced media is a nice idea, but it's not how it works, they've got to get eyeballs/clicks somehow and the best way to do that is to appeal to your audience.

However feel free to complain that the WA media didn't run a "stay with Freo" campaign.

You are slowly winning me over, Snuff. I am sure by the time trade period rolls around I will all aboard the sell our next two years picks, our first born and sacrifice a GOAT to the unholy collective of Wallsy, Belly and JL to make it happen 🤣

Can we afford to trade a contracted midfielder that isn't Darcy Tucker for trade capital?

I’ve said it before but if your coach can’t figure a way to use Jackson to advantage then you need a new coach

Yeah and given the success JL has had with every recruit traded in that put in any kind of effort, I’m confident the list management team and coaching panel know what they are doing in chasing him. They have a plan and there is clearly a ridiculous amount of talent to use.

How do you see the deal getting done?

I'd say the recruitment team would have a better idea about what our needs might be post this season; they might even have inside word that someone like Rory Lobb is still planning to leave at the end of this season

My personal opinion is that some team below us like Saints or Dogs will / are going hard for Lobb. We’ll upgrade our first and send that with a future first and get something back.

Out Lobb and two firsts, back in Jackson and two picks between 30 and 50

I think that makes me feel ill

The only way I'd accept that is if Brayshaw was coming too.

That way we have a ruck forward and a utility midfielder and won't have to trade in at all for the next few years...we would then hit the draft hard as bottom 25 players come out of contract and clear cap space

It's also losing Lobb...we also have a need for an elite small and medium forward and a KPB to replace Hamling. Two years of first rounders hamstrings that
We have more talent on our list then ever before, we can afford to splurge on a 21 year old freak of nature with three picks we rated top 12 from last year sitting at Peel. We have the medium tall covered with some combo of Logue, Fyfe and Sturt and we can find a KPD to stash at Peel for a few years with lower picks.

An elite small would be nice but we’ll cover that with what we’ve got, there’s no guarantee we can get that with our draft picks anyway
