Ruck/forward shouldn't even be a thing. Then you're just conceding two roles. Not as good as a ruck, not as good as a forward. Rather just have a forward pinch hit there and plan to concede those taps and rove accordingly and then play an actual forward.

Do you think JL has a bias there given he was a 'ruck/fwd'?
No I agree a quality forward is preferable. One of the many reasons I don't want Jackson, he's no forward.

So we've established that Jackson (all Australian under 22) can't play. Just need you to let us know the identity of the quality forward we are bringing in instead.

Exactly. There isn’t one available.

People would rather a forward that doesn’t exist than one of the best young talents in the game. Bizarre.

Snuffaluphagus who let that idiot chimp back on the Jackson thread on the D and T board.
I did, it was a temporary ban and I feel bad for posters who arent bad natured just numpties. He's trying to be better but he'll not last much longer. He certainly wont survive once the actual trade request goes through

There’s a lot of recency bias in the debate here.
A player has a bad most recent game - everyone want to get rid.
A player has a good game - sign him up ASAP!!
At HT on Saturday, many fans would have literally driven Lobb and Acres across the Nullarbor to get rid of them.
By full time, they needed to be signed up at all costs!
Truth is always in the middle really.

Logue is the same, after the Sydney game it was a case of - pay that man whatever he wants!
This week, after he comes in (following an injury don’t forget) and has a nearly game, everyone is suddenly “ok with Logue leaving”.

It’s understandable but try assess these players over the 23 game season.
Lobb has been decent this year, but he’s still not an elite KPF. He kicked two great goals in Q3 last week, but there was a moment in Q2 watching on tv that it liked like Lobb had just given up, when we were 40 down. Several neutrals on the main board remarked on it. It was mainly Brayshaw/Serong/young/Ryan/Switta that never gave up. They put a few doubters throughout our 22 on their back and said “come with us, lads, it’s not done yet”

Acres has been better this year for sure, and is a good player in our system. But his kicking is weak and I would back Longmuir and co to find another role player with a good tank to give us the same output.

Logue - he was not great the last day for sure. But there’s a reason other sides are clambouring for him, he’s a ready made KPP aged 24 and could (probably will) play 150 very high quality games for the next 8 years or so for someone. If we can somehow keep him, longer term he’s the one most likely of the 3 to give value up to 2030 for the dockers.

In my defense, I’ve been calling Logue a spud for ages. He’s had his best year at Freo as a defender, yet can’t find a spot in our backline. He’s not a forward.

Acres - for the cost and in an area of need, I just think pay that man his money.

Lobb - biggest one to replace and I don’t think it will be that easy. He’s been good all year in games we’ve played well in. You could put the best forward in the league in Lobbs place and he’d have terrible games in those ones we lost and just bombed it on their head. I want to keep Lobb.

If Logue does leave to North I’d really go hard at Tarryn Thomas. It would be a gamble but this kid can play.

Would be great on our half forward line.

I feel like you didnt read the last sentence of my comment. Being left out of a side because their are better players then you doesn't make you worth less. Logue is a walk up start to almost every other side in the competition.

Pearce, Cox, Ryan and Young just are THAT good.
And that works against freo. They go give us a first rounder, north go hand on he’s been dropped twice this year…

Well I don't think the cap is going to be an issue given the new deal - should increase significantly from 2024. Pay the guys to stick together, win the Fre-peat and then see what happens.

If we've done our long contracts correctly and not tied to the CBA increase, there is going to be an opportunity to splurge on a big fish in 2024. Naughton to come on down and complete the list...

Id like to see Tarryn Thomas as a goal kicking wingman. Good size, good in the air, much better kick i50. Questionable tank though.

Think the young leaders in the club and a fellow indigenous Tasmanian who is an ultimate pro in Alex Pearce could get the best out of him.

Then in 6yrs time or whatever we can give them back to the new Tassie team for picks #1,2!

Could be the our own Matthew Lloyd, Andrew McLeod moment!

The Danster ended up endearing himself to me. You can't help but love the little fella! =P

To be fair, he just loves his club with all his heart, and takes things a little personally (I can relate there big time haha). Some of his trade suggestions are....how could I put this....a little left of centre? Still, he's not vindictive. In fact, I was impressed at how well he did to hold his tongue in the face of all and sundry bashing him. I had a laugh at his expense on these boards, but I did try to speak politely to him on the main boards eventually, and he ain't so bad. He's not of the same category as your numero Uno's/DanWA's of this world. He's really not so bad, if not a little arrogant...

Not sure why there are so many trade scenarios involving Logue to North. The article that was posted in this thread this morning said that North have come in late but aren’t seen as the favourite. There was an article over the weekend referencing Clarkson and a bunch of out of contract players that he wants to enquire about on a wish list.

We could make the trade work for us by trading him for a forward and then drafting a developing KPD.

That Carlton offer for Acres even sounds low.
