I'm not sure Tarryn Thomas has the right attitude to succeed at the AFL level. He's quite happy throwing around his existing fame and modest riches for all to see what a big shot he is.

If you want to pinch a player from a Victorian team you should head down to St Kilda Beach, or similar option, very early in the morning with a hot chocolate and see which fit young man is taking a recovery dip.

You'll see Scott Pendlebury. You won't see Thomas, at least not yet.

To remove all confusion, I'm not suggesting we try and recruit Pendlebury, that was for last off season. I'm saying that finding the professionals, the full time footballers, will have more success than bringing in talent without the internal drive as yet to be the best they can be.

So is Josh Corbett insurance for Logue? Or are we keen regardless.

Anyone else find the tone of Jon Ralph’s commentary about us really irritating in the HS?
He really doesn’t regard Fremantle as a serious AFL club.

He’s a tosser. We only exist as a trading ground for other clubs to him, but he’s like that for most of the non-Vic clubs.

In my defense, I’ve been calling Logue a spud for ages. He’s had his best year at Freo as a defender, yet can’t find a spot in our backline. He’s not a forward.

Acres - for the cost and in an area of need, I just think pay that man his money.

Lobb - biggest one to replace and I don’t think it will be that easy. He’s been good all year in games we’ve played well in. You could put the best forward in the league in Lobbs place and he’d have terrible games in those ones we lost and just bombed it on their head. I want to keep Lobb.
To be fair, Lobb wants it bombed on his head and doesn’t lead like an A grade forward. I recon Amiss will go past him in 2 years with his craft and bigger body.

Most forwards are pretty useless to be honest. This place complains so much about missing Naughton but he’s hungover from Mad Monday atm while we’re playing on Saturday.

Man I hope we keep Acres, his defensive running on the weekend was second only to Brayshaw. I think we’ll miss him more then some would like to admit
I think he will leave. I’m hearing we won’t be upping our offer anymore based on a small sample size. Had he stayed and continued his form he would have earnt more.

I don't think logue is an unproven backman at all? I think he's proven himself to be a high quality backman, just not quite as good as Pearce, Cox or Ryan who are or would be worth much much more then pick 12 if they were Logues age.
He's played 7 games in defence this year and managed to get himself dropped twice.

Chapman gets a backline gig ahead of him. Cox went from being developed as a forward to straight past him as a defender: woosh!

He would get a game ahead of Hamling because Joel looks a shadow of his former self after his ankle injury.

Pure speculation, but if Treacy has an uninterrupted season, he may already be playing ahead of Griff as 3rd tall. If all the forwards are fit in 2023 it is hard to see how he gets a game ahead of Tabs, Lobb/Jackson, and Amiss.

If you have never played a full season and are getting squeezed out when everyone is fit --then from an oppo list manager POV that is looking pretty unproven.

About time people are starting to realize that. Acres has grown in the environment we provided. He's a hard tackler, provides pressure acts, wins contested ball, good intercepter and is great for the culture. The only negative is his kicking. He's one of the best defensive wingers in the comp atm and Bell is too up himself to see that. Having a 90 kg that runs both ways is very valuable. For reference Worner is 79 kg lol.

Mate, you think Bell is making all list management decisions and Acres being pushed out has anything to do with Bell's opinion of himself?

I go back and forth on it but at the moment I think we really need to keep Acres. Rather keep him around for an extra year and risk him reverting back to spud than see him doing what he did this year for Carlton. His defensive work is so underrated and none of his proposed replacements even come close to matching it. Especially if Logue, Lobb, and Tucker are all leaving anyway we'd have plenty of money to spend on him so it's not like an extra year at 350k will hurt us that much. Still only 26 too.

Well who is the club going to be spending the money on when all four of acres, lobb, logue and tucker leave? Lobb is on big money, Griff's 4 years @ 500k is big money they're prepared to offer. Surely if those two leave we just up the offer to Acres??

He's not insurance for Logue. Logue is a defender, he's only playing forward for us out of need. Teams chasing him want him as a KPD.
I'd be keen on Corbett regardless, he is a smart forward who plays bigger than his 190cms.

I think success can get to your head especially if it is sustained. It is illogical to force Acres out when there is no replacement. I will admit that you are right and that there could be other players making the decision.

Well I would disagree there is no replacement. It's illogical to think this isnt a group decision between coaching group and the list management team

Youngsters have the opportunity to step up now and we draft another one for depth. If Acres wants to leave a young team in a premiership window for Carlton he has no interest in Winning a flag and only wants $.

Hope he gets one with us but good riddance when the season is over

Can't believe Logue has turned down down 500k over 4 years with us and i refuse to believe a club will offer him more. Fingers Crossed him and Acres come back with their tails between their legs asking if they can take the deal.

Imagine the field day the media will have if Lobb, Acres,Logue and Tucker leave with Mundy retiring.

To me the list decisions being made by Carlton show that Acres has one foot out the door. Col Young knows that the offer from Freo is final and he will be on his way as soon as the season ends. Acres girlfriend apparently from Vic and I’d say it has been in the mix for a while.

Logue a better chance of staying and the higher priority. I’m guessing that there are some clubs offering him more money and the longer this goes the more the chance he does leave.

List of forwards out of contract this year and next. If Logue does go to a new club some of those names could be asked for in a trade. Other we are some chance of adding via drafts or DFA.
