SEN in Melbourne this morning had Tim Gossage prattling on about the exodus at Fremantle and how damaging it is/will be. That guy is just an Eagles fanboi with a mic.
He gave no context to the Logue/Acres trade requests, mentioned nothing about the why Lobb is leaving and said that Freo are really in a dark hole if they don't get Jackson.
Prat.

Hi guys, I just wanted to post something very dumb because it's fun to think about.

So apparently Carlton are flirting with the idea of trading McKay before he hits free agency next season. The Hawks only got a first round pick directly after their first for Buddy, so we can assume that's all Carlton will get, which would probably fall at about 14.

Imagine if we offered them Lobb as a replacement, Acres, our first round pick and our future first and they took it (they wouldnt). Sorry Jackson you can go the Eagles.

Ok now back to reality.

He’s third in line at North too.

Neither. Think this is far too much for the depth to take. Would’ve been okay with Mundy and Lobb leaving but forcing out Logue and Acres during a sustainable period is overboard. Meek, Tucker even more so. Can only do so much with draft picks.
Unless Marie bodies coming in, 2023 will be a reality check for fans

There is a decent chance that 2023 would have been a reality check even with all our players staying. I see some similarities with Hawthorn who fluked a flag in 2008 when Geelong were clearly the best side (this year was our chance to do the same). The average age in that GF was almost identical to ours versus Collingwood. Crawford/Mundy. Guys like Rioli, Buddy, Hodge, Roughy, Croad were 18-21. Then they went back to 9th/7th before heading back into the top 4 and better things.

Our talent is ridiculously stacked U/24 and the age profile of say Gawn/May/Petracca/Oliver stacks up with where our young guns will be in say 2026-2028. Thats how long I think it might be before we are a genuine top level side.

Logue is the only one I am sad to see go with the concerns over Pearce's longevity. But we clearly wanted to keep Logue. We didn't "force" him out. He took a godfather offer. I won't be surprised if we have a Croad situation coming back the other way. Young will load up his $2.8 million over 4 years to be mostly paid in the first 2 years while North has nobody else to pay. Then in 3 years we will see what sort of player Logue is, and might be getting him back across just as we are hitting our straps and Pearce is possibly cooked.

He’s a utter CNUT. I cannot stand that s**tstain of an excuse for a human being.

Total mercenary, Part of me just wants him gone but I do admit he is too hard to replace
I don’t want to see him in purple again. He distracted our players, and may have been a big reason why we lost on the weekend. They were probably sick of watching him drop marks in the forward line, after hearing all about his new Melbourne mansion.

They must have butchered their cap if that's true.

Freo have youngsters at Peel waiting for their opportunity, Acres and Tucker had to go.
Lobb out at 30 years old and Jackson in at 21 , no brainer.
Logue is liked and well respected but he wasn't in the best back six.
Chapman or Hughes can cover down back and Amiss or Sturt forward.
We had to lose players to accommodate the guns at Peel playing or the kids start looking around. Its what happens when you have a stacked list.

This board during the season:
OMG get Acres out of our team!
Logue is an athlete not a footballer!
Lobb is a soft****. Trade him out for a packet of chips!
Tucker is done. Delist now!
We need to get games into Erasmus & Johnson!

This board now:
OMG the sky is falling, all our players are leaving!
We’ll go backwards playing kids instead of hard bodies!

Exactly they were the biggest characters at the club, what is nurries thinking haha
Every player that been on OBYB has said Griff Logue is intimidating as a first impression. Which basically means he bullies the young blokes. Plus he is a show off and has a high impression of himself even though he ain’t that good.
Lobb bakes every player when a ball is delivered within a 5cm radius of his hands as he won’t dive for it.
Acres, I have heard from an inside source is a bit of a shit stirrer - not in a fun, joking way

We were like a point off being a top 4 side this year and now you think we have to wait another 4-5 years to be a top side, I don't think so.

It's only Logue I am worried about losing, Alex Pearce's ankles are held together by fairy dust and angel hairs, if he goes down what do we do? Yes Ryan maybe can fill in as a tall for a few weeks or Chapman. Hamling's body is failing him and he is a shadow of his former self ( which was a super player for the record). I think if Jackson comes then Lobb leaves we can operate with Tabs, Amiss and then Jackson & Fyfe going through the forward line often in the 22 with Sturt and Banfield potentially as back ups. I would then look to see if Treacy can play as a back during the pre season and then he can become the Logue of 2022 if we need support down back he can help out, if not he can compete as a fwd.

I don't think the world is closing but what are the chances injuries are as kind to us in 2023? Our depth is young and we will likely be fine but I am not sure we can simply blame Colin Young (who is an absolute grub) for players leaving every season.

So, a 5 year front-loaded contract for Logue means Colin Young will be shopping him around in 3 years, right?

Dare i say we get him back to replace Pearce in 3 years time.
