Reckon Russell knows he has a very injury prone list.
He knows if he pushes them to new levels across the pre season, there’s every chance they break down again and again.

Williams, Kennedy, Martin All horrific games. What was that from Kennedy ?!!

Young, tdk, Walsh all very poor games.

We looked far more competitive every time jsos went into the ruck.

Never thought I’d say this, but god we miss McGovern.

Also it doesn't erase the fact we beat previous bogey teams Richmond, Hawthorn and last year's Grand Finalists in the process.

List has some holes in it still, but it felt like one of days the footy gods frowned upon us.

This was when Teague would sack the young blokes and play his mate cohort. There needs to be a statement but selective;

Out: Fisher, Newman, Plowman, O'Brien, Boyd, Cripps (hammie)

In: Dow, Stocker, Kemp, Durdin, Pitto,

No more walk up starts, insipid performances need to be called out. Somehow Owies and Martin survive, but those 50's in the third eventually cost the team the game

Bad loss but no need to throw the baby out with the bath water. Plenty to look back on and learn from. We could not have played any worse and went down by 5 goals. Onto next week.

Yep, it's pretty astonishing how many terrible things we did throughout the game and it only resulted in a five goal loss. We couldn't have played much worse. Although Saad couldn't have played much better.

Very rare to have that many good players so down. We should see a positive correction against Port.

The ruck was a serious concern all game. The fact that JSOS was more effective in there is an indictment on our recognised ruckman

A lot to dislike but the Dees only just beat them a few weeks back. Take Gawn and Perrracca out and they would have probably lost by 5 goals.

Footy gods? Unwarranted criticism?

Elmer if you want this team to go anywhere, they need to stop being protected by fans, club or media in the moments they don’t show up. A handful showed up today. That’s it. It was a shocking performance. Nothing to do with luck. Call it for what it is constructively, give GC their fair due and look to next week. Dreadful day out.

Voss, I’ll give you one long hard earned tip I’ve acquired from watching every game since we’ve been shiver for 20 years....

Do not, I repeat do not believe that the boys who gave a whimper today will repay the faith for you next week by keeping them in the side. Setterfield, Martin, Plowman, Owies, Fisher should be on thin ice for a game next week in the seniors. Some others will survive due to positional needs and injury, Like TDK and Young. Please teach the crew you’ll reward consistency and hardness in the VFL by promoting them and dropping those who don’t bring it in the seniors.

No need for payment Voss for that nugget... that’s free.

Shades of 2012. Carrots injured in the round 4 loss to essendon and here we had Cripps injured.

Credit to suns, didn’t let us out their forward 50. Scored on turnover and smashed us on the inside. On the flip side we struggled to keep the ball in our f50 and were on the back foot the minute Cripps went down. Gotta watch the game again to really see who should get the heat and from first look signs are pointing to our small forwards.

And this is why so many of us were nervous before the game.
Alot of passengers today,terrible game to watch.

Far too many were thinking this would be an easy win.
No biggie.
Pitto is our most important player structurally. TDK isn't ready for sole ruck work. He's 3rd fwd/2nd ruck at the moment.
We were losing the midfield battle before Cripps went down. We can certainly win without Cripps, but this wasn't going to be the game for that.

We move on. We aren't as great as some were saying, but we aren't as bad as this game either.
We bounce back next week.

TDK has the athleticism but lacks the ruckman nous which is what Pitto has. You can’t just leap and hope for the best.

We were really poor today. We were minced in the midfield helped by a dominant ruck. Their tall backs brought the ball to ground against Harry and Charlie where their small backs slaughtered us. All their forwards troubled our defenders. Hard to think of many who played well. A comprehensive defeat and a good reminder we still have a lot of work to do.
