What a great gif, for multiple reasons.

Im coming around to this Liam Shiels rookie recruitment.

Obviously he'd add alot of leadership and experience and drive on the training track. Do we expect him to play every game? Nah, but if his vfl form forces it, then yeh sure.

Funny how Shiels is apparently the hardest trainer on earth and a fantastic leader but was let go by just about the youngest and most inexperienced team in the league?

Except he also won a threepeat under Clarko. Funny that.

Not saying he isn’t going to be a good pick up in a development type role, just asking the question as to why Hawthorn wouldn’t want him around mentoring their kids?

The standards he set might not be as important there as they would be here. Or maybe Hawthorn are the ones making a mistake. Maybe Clarko just wants a leader he already has a great relationship with and Shields fits the bill. Dunno.

I get what you're saying, but id trust Clarko. If he wants him around, then im backing him in.

Clarko has always been big on development, if Shiels comes to us then I reckon he will basically be an onfield coach - maybe targeted specifically for the VFL.

If that’s the case, then the kids in the two’s will thrive off his experience as he will be relaying pretty much everything Clarko has taught him over the journey and that can only be a good thing IMO.

That's one side of the argument, the other side is of course this…

I'd argue that Jed offers us more on & off field than Shiels because with stats like that Liam isn't offering us anything on field.

If I have to watch Jed gather a clearance from a centre bounce with no opposition within 10 meters and then blindly kick to the deep pocket or flank hitting the defender on the chest I’ll spew up.

Called for his sacking 3 years ago.

As tough as nails with no poise or footy smarts.

They have many other leaders in and around the club from their recent successful era. He’s not as critical in that regard there.

Whereas us…

Can you get the powerball numbers from them next time? I need to know which numbers to avoid.
Tbf I can give you the ones to avoid :-D

Sam Mitchell thinks he won’t make the same mistakes North made, despite making the same mistakes North made.

Rookie list just one mature player.
The rest should be under 22 players
nah

in a super shallow draft, i think the idea of rookieing as many Stocker/Stack/Shiels types as we can is a super solid plan.

Either get guys who can drive standards in a young group or give a second chance to talented players who are still young enough to develop.

Agreed. Kids ranked 60+ in this draft year won't help us at all in 2023. Senior bodies all the way.

I like the idea of getting Stack & Shiels. Bring J. Walker back as a rookie because of his versatility

The way things are looking I don’t think Jed will be making you spew up next year, of course we still have a few other players on our list that might.
